I'm transitioning from the Optimus V (which was damaged) and am wondering if those power cords are compatible with my new HTC One V. Don't want to just 'give it a shot' because the parts look the same. Thanks in advance.

Just the USB cable? Should work just fine. Won't hurt it. At the most it might charge slower, but I doubt it. As for the charging plug, it would probably work fine, but it can give a different power frequency. I always stick with my stock charging base. But the cords are universal.

Have a look at your Optimus's charger, if output 5V/1A or more amperage then you can use it with your HTC without to worry.
But rapid charging? It might or it might not, you have to try it.
Rapid charging means a full phone's charge in about 2 1/2 hours
