im new here so this is my First post and what i want is help from any android expert in solving my problem. see i recently got the HTC one X plus and unlocked the bootloader, and installed clockwork mod recovery and rooted my phone. now when i receive the offical jb ota update 1.17.401.1 , i cannot update it and it says error and i abort the installation and then reboot the phone in clockwork mod. and by the way all this unlocking and rooting is done thanks to Hasoons2000 tool kit, bless that developer who made this toolkit. so after researching reading many forums and i find out that we have to use stock recovery image for htc one +. to fix the problem , i cant find any One X + stock recovery image all i can see are htc one X stock recovery image. but i need the one specific to my phone model.
Also it would be of great help if you show me the process of using stock recovery on hasoons2000 toolkit for oneX+
Since i dont want to risk bricking my expensive phone. so guys if you have the solution to my problem please do help me out.!!
maybe Not now, but even if i do choose im sure there is only one for the one X + and that is maximus rom plus. dont want to mix my one x rom wtih one x + noo sir.
still do you have any link where i can get stock recovery image for one x +.
i still prefer getting ofical jb ota updates.
I would have thought that, if you were able to find a corrent RUU (ROM Update Utitlity) for your phone, then you should be able to put it back to stock... perhaps it would be worth waiting for someone else who has the same phone as you to answer

Would you be able to advise where you are from and who your network provider is? This could help with suggesting the right RUU for you. Also - do you know if your phone was SIM free or network locked?

my phone is sim free and unlocked. but my network provider is wataniya, kuwait. . hope it will be of help in findinf the ruu and my phone model update says htc europe

i believe that simply running this ruu will be the easier way for you to get the update, over reinstalling the stock recovery so you can recieve the OTA. i used to advocate that folks leave the stock recoveries in place so that they can recieve OTAs,but as phones become more complex, there are more checks going on. as people mod their stock roms, tweek thigns, and eliminate bloat, the chances that the OTA will fail go up exponentially trying to make the OTA work can be very fustrating, and there is nothing special about it. running the ruu utility from your PC is more controled, more stable, and will get you the same end result.
heres what i would do:
-download ruu
-make backups of your user apps with titanium backup,or an equivalent app
-there are apps to back up sms and call logs,if you care about those
-relock your bootloader
-run the .exe
if relocking the bootloader throws out a security warning its no big deal, just run the utility with the phone on that screen.
after the ruu completes, you can re-unlock the bootloader, reinstall recovery and superuser, and then use your backup apps to restore user apps, sms, etc.
hope that helps, just holler if you have any questions

thanks for the help scotty85 and durux. but i still have other Question
is this ruu update for the clockwork mod recovery or for stock recovery?
and do we really have to lock the bootloader to install the ota and
also do we have to unroot the phonr or is rooting ok.
finally how do i use the the ruu with haoons2000 toolkit.
ok thanks scotty and durux. but i would like to ask some more Questions.
1. is it necessary to relock the bootloader to install this ruu and what about unrooting
the phone is it needed.
2. is there no update which will work with clockwork mod recovery.
3. say i need to install this ruu, how do i do it using hasoons2000 toolkit.
thanks for the help scotty85 and durux. but i still have other Question
is this ruu update for the clockwork mod recovery or for stock recovery?
either. it is a utility run on the pc,wich will replace all partitions, regardless of what is allready there.
and do we really have to lock the bootloader to install the ota and

you will need to relock to run the ruu utility
finally how do i use the the ruu with haoons2000 toolkit.
i am not faimiliar with hasoons toolkit. there may be an otion to relock,i dont know. that info is best found in the hasoon tool kit support thread.
thanks waiting for your valuable reply

yes, relocking is needed to run the ruu. it will automatically unroot you in the process, wich is no big deal. rooting again afterward is easy.
2. is there no update which will work with clockwork mod recovery.
no,im afraid there is not. the OTA and the RUU will contain new firmware, wich is needed for JB to run. CW is only able to install software, there is no way to update using only CW
3. say i need to install this ruu, how do i do it using hasoons2000 toolkit.

the toolkit will not do you any good to run the ruu,as far as i know. it may have an option to relock the bootloader for you,but thats it.
you can just as easily relock the bootloader manually, but opening a cmd window, changing to your adb/fastboot directory, and then placing the phone in fastboot, and plug it in.
enterfastboot devices in the cmd window. it should spit back your serial number.
to relock enter: fastboot oem lock
this command will do one of 2 things:
1)lock you into bootloader with a security warning
or
2)reboot you into the OS.
wich will happen, just depends on the extent youve modded the stock rom. in either case, just run the .exe as administrator.
hope that clears up some confusion

but the way i did all the unlocking boot loader and rooting is by watching hasoons2000 video on utube. so i figure there would be the option for the ruu and explanation for installation of sock recovery on youtube
hi scotty85, i have another Question
in hasoons toolkit there is an option to use our own recovery so is that the place where we put the tuu or do we place it under kernel folder

once again, you CANNOT use the tool to run the ruu. the ruu is a utility run on your PC.
the ONLY part that you can use the tool for,is to relock the bootloader,so the ruu can be run.

As Scotty says, the RUU is an .exe file that you run from your computer. It will put the stock recovery and stock ROM back on the phone... there would be no need to use any toolkit

is it easy to unlock the bootloader again once the phone is relocked.
yup. just as easy as it was the first time. if you still have your original unlock_code.bin that htc emailed,it should be even easier,as you can reuse that, and you wont have to get the indetifier token, submit it,etc. just flash the command to unlock

Just the keypad isn't lighting up? Keyboard is working though right? I'd say go into the keyboard options and look for a setting relevant to this.

the x+ doesnt have a physical keyboard,i believe hes refering to just the soft key lights.
id try toggling the auto brightness setting(i use the power control widget). i find on alot of roms, the soft keys are somewhat kooky if you leave the auto brightness on. its just trying to save you some battery.
failing that, maybe research the general section, and see if other users have had this issue with the OTA,it may be a bug in the new software.
might be goot to stay stock for a few days, and check for updates incase a bug fix OTA is sent out.
rest assured, however, that your issue is not from the ruu itself. if it turns out to be a prollel with the update, youd have had the same issues to have update Over The Air.

This is what I would also suggest... I've had this problem on a couple of custom ROM's and found that doing what Scotty suggests has sorted out the issues

In a nutshell, you will need to re unlock, re install recovery, reflash superuser, then download titanium to restore.
The backup folder you made prior is probably still on your SD . If not, just transferred over from the PC after you are rooted and have titanium install.
Just make sure you do not use Titanium to restore any system data. Only use Titanium to restore user app

but suppose i get another update from ota then this whole mundane task of relocking has to be done again right. which is why i want to leave it stock and resotre the backup. without going through the process of unlocking boot and installing clockwork and rooting.
hmm or can we only unlock bootloader and root and bypass unstalling clockwork recovery
Those issues are why I suggested you stay stock for few days. It is possible to temporarily launch recovery without installing it to install superuser, but doing so well not necessarily guarantee you to be able to take ota updates.
I'm at work right now, but I can go into more detail later this evening.

Often, after an update is released, the ROM devs release a stock, rooted ROM over at XDA, which you would be able to install via ClockWorkMod (at least I've seen this happen for my phone)

so once again thanks so much for helping me out esp you scotty and u too durx.
now i was able once again unlock , flash with twrp recovery and root once again. and
restore with titanium. but the earlier backup i made with titanium wasnt ther so i took
the one from my pc where i backed up and placed it in my titanium folder on my phone and restore.
so i want to help those who like me got confused to look at my post and look below
where i put the link to keep ur root, so you dont have to go thru that mundane task.
and receive ota updates with bootloader unlocked and rooted and this works pretty much with stock rom and is safe but still always have a backup handy. although in the link that flashing ota updates on custom roms may not be good.
as i mentioned above, just haveing the stock recovery is not always enuff. a few other things can cause the OTA to fail:
-not being on a "release" version software
-deleting bloatware
-modifying the stock rom. this is a somewhat vauge statement,as some things that you can mod will not affect the OTAs abilility to install, some will.
-being on firmware that doesnt match the software(for example, installing a stock rom on older hboot, radio, etc)
-maybe even some other things we dont know
its also pointless,IMO,to use the voodoo rootkeeper. i honestly have no idea why folks get so freaked out at the notion of temporarily losing their root access. one very distinct advantage of htcdev unlock,is that one is aways able to easily re-root by reflashing superuser in recovery.

well, looks like im a day late/dollar short with this info, since you decided to go ahead and permanently reinstall your recovery. but... you could have easily temporarily launched your recovery into phone memory, rather than installing it.
just like you used the following to permantly install recovery: fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
you could have just launched recovery,so it was temporary with this command: fastboot boot recoveryname.img
you could have used this temporary recovery to make a nandroid backup, and flashed your superuser files, without out overwriting your stock recovery image. if you had gone this route, and were careful not to mod your rom too much, chances are good that you could have accepted any followup OTAs.
your only option now,is to reinstall the stock recovery, like you installed clockwork(as your link describes). however, its not easy like it used to be to pull images from stock ruus.
we used to be able to extract rom.zip from the .exe utility, and use a utility such as 7-zip to erxtract it,giveing us access to all the images inside. however, htc has tightened the reins on this, compressing rom.zip with something that no one has figured out a way yet to open with windows.
so im afraid your only option for obtaining a stock recovery is to find someone who was able to dump that partition another way,and uploaded it somewhere for folks to download. that,or you could relock and run the ruu again

yes i know i should have listened scotty, but hey incase my phone gets bricked while updating with ota keeping intact my root and twrp recovery will there be anyway to
get back my phone to work after its bricked.
Also please do find a stock recovery image for the ruu update i made with my phone.
