Talking UK Pre-order deals

So I've been keeping an eye out on deals available at the moment and here are the few that's caught my eye:

O2 - 24x36 (300mins, 3000txts, 1000mb data) (phone free) (+ htc media link HD) = 864 over 24months

HTC One X White O2 Contract Deals | Phones 4u

T-mobile - 24x21 (100mins, 3000txts, 750mb data) (phone 139) = 643 over 24months (equivalent 26.80 per month)

Basket - Mobile Phones Direct

any others that caught yours? have any of you guys been able to get any good deals via upgrades or potentially retentions?

I know I could probably get better deals elsewhere, but I think I'm going to stick with Orange. Anywhere else and it looks as though I'd have to go for a 24 month contract, but with Orange, I have the option of 18 months if I want.

Incidentally, it looks as though O2 will potentially be getting it on the 5th: O2 UK Getting HTC One X April 5th

I agree with you on this El Prez, but usually the best deals are via the retentions team, which by that time the Sammy S3 will be out i guess and hopefully the prices would have dropped.

and not to mention there's more chance to save via topcashback or quidco, but most of the deals over 18months are in the 40+ range for the free handset - which is a fair amount TBH...and considering my deal for my original DHD was 25 for 18months? looks like im awaiting till the end of April for my upgrade deal, but would be nice to use something as leverage with the upgrade/retentions teams

Never done the retention thing before, but I might give it a try this time. I want to switch to a plan which has tethering enabled by default. Anyway, I'm getting off topic, apologies.

Most of the pre order deals I've seen are no contract options but if the networks are starting to advertise deals for it, I'll need to have a proper look around.

I never get a phone on contract, preferring to buy outright.that way I can sell on my current phone without too much of a loss.and i don't have to wait too long before i can upgrade as i would have with a contract..plus I don't have to put up with bloatware. I get enough minutes, texts and data on pay as you go..

I always look at it from a TCO perspective but unfortunately going the buying your handset outright cant be made for everyone as not everyone has an available 450 in the bank. when i got my dhd it was 25 over 18 months , meaning it only cost me 450 which was the same price of a brand new DHD at the time. then add a sim only deal for 18months? min 10 a month? thats already 630 over 18months.

do the phones from phones4u, mobiles.co.uk etc come unbranded?

99% of the time, yes. I'd a mate with vodafone but he went via cpw and he got a voda branded DHD, but that the vast majority are unbranded.

Depends what you use it for. 750MB data does me fine. At home, I'm connected to WiFi and at work, I'd rarely need to use 3G, I don't stream/tether etc. I do ok with contracts

It's just down to whatever suits the individual.

again, everyone has different circumstances and needs, i dont actually use THAT much data on the go but with the HTC One X, i think my behaviour will change with its usage.

I still think the deal by zooby is still pretty good considering its only over 12 months. 581 then inc the cashback and the pre-order htc link hd thing thats worth 70? so thats 461 over 12 months. You wont be able to get a HTC One X for less than that at release.

I'm starting to think that this phone should last me 24 months easily and SHOULD be future proof for that time period anyways, and if i can get a deal under 550 over 24months, i'd be a happy bunny.

the only think I'll be watching out for any other provider apart from orange since their stunt to increase our contracts MID way recently shows that they are NOT a company you can trust...

UK customers can now pre-order their HTC One X and One S devices

I don't know if anyone has seen that? P4U are doing the media link with all pre orders.

Same as that, works out at 476.99, and if you count the free media link, theoretically the phone is costing 406.99. Good deal in my book. wonder what phones will be available for next upgrade window in Feb 2013?

And what will a 10 month old One X be selling for then?

My current T-Mobile contract is up next month - 300 mins, unlimited landline calls, 300 texts, unlimited (Web n Walk) internet for 20.42 inc.VAT per month. I can see I will use more Internet with a One X. The 300 texts and 300 minutes is more than enough for me. So I guess I will be aiming to get a One X under my existing contract. Never done this before as I have always had my own phones independent of contract. Presumably I can request a replacement phone and I will be given some kind of price for the handset while my plan remains unchanged? Or is that asking too much?

Ian

PS My existing contract is was via mobiles.co.uk (part of CPW) so my HTC Desire is unbranded - should I go for the One X through them and get another unbranded handset or go direct to T-Mobile? Of course unbranded is more desirable but I'm wondering about the best potential for a deal.

yeah me too, all I can be certain is, is that it wont have the same value as older iphones....

the only problem is, contract is technically not due till July, so early upgrade is the only option for me...unless phones4u can buy me out lol

If only you had made the decision a few days earlier, there was 65 cashback with Quidco.

lol that was such an odd deal, as the same package but only 500mins was 35?? aka another 500mins was only 24 more over 24 months?? haha

i think with the combination of unlimited data, this might swing it for me since id like to tether it to my asus transformer more often

any one else in the uk seen any good deals with packages containing more than 1gb data? not too bothered about txts or mins...

hmm...did a bit more digging with 3, and dont forget you can get a mate to recommend you for 30, and quidco tracks at 100 for the ultimate plans. at work they also offer 100 bill credit for new contracts on 3 so!

35 x 24 = 840 - 30 -100 -100 = 610 over 2 years for 500mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data? not too shabby I think as that works out at 25.42 per month considering its unlimited tin-ter-net. add 1 a month for 500mins extra if thats needed.

OK the reason I went for the two year Orange deal with Dial phone -

1) 1gb of data
2) 50 cashback via Topcashback
3) Will get 20 credit for recommending myself back

4) Most critical for me free sky sports and I can use the hub. Does anyone currently use this service to stream from their existing Android handset?
If so what is the quality like?
I believe you can do it over wifi too? If not over wifi is 3g quick enough. I currently don't have Sky or Virgin tv services. If Freeview hd Humax fox2 PVR

Pre ordered my phone yesterday on 3, 300min, unlimited internet, unlimited data 24 month, free phone all for 28

Think I got a real good deal this could have got a few more minutes on a 29 month contract, but the minutes don't bother me too much.

Got mine through a similar phone company to dialaphone, so I will see how it go's

Just a reminder check the tethering terms and conditions when picking the unlimited data plans on 3

Got mine through a similar phone company to dialaphone, so I will see how it go's

Just a reminder check the tethering terms and conditions when picking the unlimited data plans on 3
Tethering is pretty simple with 3, The One Plan allows it and the rest of their all you can eat tariffs don't.

Mobile phone price plans - Store - Three

There is a tethering add-on for the Ultimate/Essential tariffs, but it will set you back an extra 5 a month for 1gb and the One Plan can be found through resellers for less than the fiver extra each month.

righty all, more searching done for the UK boyz (and girlz) and I came across this little gem:

HTC One X White on 3 3 The One Plan 24 months with Delivery

ok its with 3, but after speaking to a few guys over at work, 3 hasn't given them any issues in regards to signal , but customer service is horrid if things go wrong.

but...still, the deal is pretty amazing:

2000mins
5000txts
all-you-can-eat data (and as its the one plan - you can tether for free....which will bring into question...do i need broadband? lol)
phone cost: 117.99
contract:25pm over 24 (with phone cost around 30pm over 24)

so what do you guys think? personally I think this is awesome considering you dont have to pay a tether charge on top...

That VF deal is very good.
Managed to get an upgrade deal out of T mobile. 190 upfront( ouch) but 15 a month for 100 mins UL text and data. Plan on needing the data more than ever with this. Tethering is included from what I have read. Got to 3gb once before getting a FUP text. 24 month, but it works out more to buy the phone and plan seperate. Plus I think the T-mobile UL data plans are worth holding onto for the mo. I never normally worry about having the next great phone so suits me. The one X is just around at the right time.

The trick with retention deals is never give them a price, tell them what you need and look up the placed such as P4U and Mobiles.co.uk. Then just tell them you can do better, as long as you can!
Don;t forget Quidco ( keep failing to pay me) or Top cash back ( never failed yet).
Also it's always worth phoning up the CS dept and asking to beat their online prices. I have done this 3 times with great success. Plenty of people did it 2 years ago for really good deals on Desires.

If you really want a cheap phone for your own sim, it seems the best way is to get an O2 contract, remove the data bolt on straight away, and then downgrade after 12 months to the lowest plan.
O2 unlock there phones for free as well, so it could mean a phone for about 300-400 over 2 years. Of course if you have the money, pay off the contract early and save the VAT too. Don't forget Quidco and TCB usually around 60.
Lots of details about it on Hotukdeals.
