I got 4.1 today in the UK and it's totally wrecked my SIM-free One X.
I can't answer calls, the keyboard has disappeared so I can't email or text, my call history has gone, so has 90% of my Contact data.
Can I roll back to 4.0.4?
Help!
We see weird stuff like this a lot on major upgrades. It's usually caused by the operating system caches not getting cleared properly.
Unless you're rooted (where you can clear caches directly), your best bet is to backup what you can using MyBackup Pro and Sms Backup+, check your contacts on the Google web, reset google wallet from within the app if you have it, and do a factory data reset.
It's a bit of a joke now ,other phone company's can announce when and where it will take place . Not these idiots basically some time in December is thé New end of October . What are rolling it out in shopping trolleys?
I'm not having a go its all a bit embarrassing that's all.
Yes I agree it is a real mess. I really do not see what the issue is at all. If it is ready let's us have it, or download from their website. HTC have let themselves Down in Europe
Yes , seems like some kinda BS from HTC . JEEzzz my old Nexus s got JB a few months ago , yes it was a google device but Come ON HTC , GET YA FINGER OUT FFS .
I know everyones wanting the new JB update but lets keep it friendly...
Everyone is in the same boat...
Cheers

Lol.. I have been abusing the Software Update button as well. Every time the message pops up, I get so excited but then I read that it says "There are no updates available for your device" and get disappointed.

wAllright the AT&T GS3 is getting updated to 4.1.1 now... there's no way Samsung has had that update with AT&T for testing longer than HTC has... hopefully that means any day now for us AT&T peasants...
well, way to sink my boat. But no really, I thought they'd already fixed all of those issues (they already were held up at customs in the US for nearly a month, after all...)
I believe he is referring to the fact that HTC released the HOX before Samsung released the GS3, and yet the GS3 is getting an update to android 4.1 before the HOX...
In a way I agree with him, except that in my opinion Sense is 400x better than TouchWiz (which I can't stand) so I'm willing to wait, or was. At this point it's getting a little ridiculous.
@Guitar there shouldn't even be a comparison, honestly. My friends have had the 4.1 update on their GS3 for a very, very long time now that when I start ranting about the update they're like "what the hell are you talking about? it's old already" lol
But I am still a loyal HTC fan and one update won't stop me from buying their great quality products. To be honest I find the HOX and HOX+ to be made of better quality than the GS3, and they most certainly look much better as well. And Sense UI is much better.

The quality is by far better and I'm hoping HTC can get back to where they use to be. Also stop making carrier exclusives!

Me too. I'm hoping they can get back to the stage where they don't have to let carriers lord over them so much to get their products carried. Kinda like Samsung is now, except that they are only able to do it because of the volume they can push. In my opinion, their build and ui quality is leagues behind htc, which drives me crazy when everyone and their cousin has a gs3 and yet htc has to bend over backwards to get carriers to use their products, then the carriers turn around and screw over consumers with bloatware and slow updates.

The date the phones were released is meaningless.
Google didn't give the JB code to HTC first just because the HOX was released before the GS3.
Chances are Samsung received the code before HTC because of Nexus line, so they had advantage over HTC in this case.

That is no doubt correct. However, to the uneducated (but still educated enough to distinguish between different versions of android) this won't make a difference, as they will want their update first, given the fact that their phone was released first. When different manufacturers receive the source code (I'm guessing manufacturers get it before it's released to source.Android.com?) won't be a factor to the consumer. Besides, I would think HTC would still be in good with Google, for both the G1 and the nexus 1.
Then there's the people like me that want HTC to succeed (and may or may not have a higher opinion of HTC then Samsung like i do) that are disappointed HTC isn't doing more to try and gain back some mind share with more timely updates.

Yes, but... the other uneducated would claim "I bought newer phone therefore I should receive the update first!".
So I think the reasonable think to say is that there is no connection between the order the phones were released to the order the phones should get the update.

You're right, I didn't think of it from that side.
I think it suffices to say that we are frustrated that it's been a long time since HTC said they would push the update, longer still since we've wanted an update, and some users (me included) are getting quite frustrated.
Im not that frustrated yet that im mashing the update key yet
And i understand that there are obviously going to be problems with any software release on this size scale,
But i think the fact that we are now heading steadily into December with no word from HTC or sign of the update that we were originally promise in October is quite annoying
Can understand why its really getting to some people.
Heads up,
JB has started to roll out from 10 this morning in eastern Europe with various cid's upgraded. Fingers crossed it won't take too long to hit the UK
Whoo! maybe we will see it start to roll out more in the next few days!
I can't check on my AT&T S4 model for 7 hours still (it only lets me check once every 24 hours) but I'm not too hopeful. My guess is it rolls out to most or all of Europe before us on AT&T get it haha
Nothing special about what Sony have said. All they have said is "We'll let you know mid-December" and the rest is just speculation. HTC have issued similar statements in the past about upgrading their own range.
Personally i think HTC should have released an update by now, although i am fed up of waiting for htc to release the update this wont stop me buying their products as already mentioned they are highest of quality when compared to phones such as GS3.
Got JB last night. My CID is 011, it's SIM free and I'm based in Reading, England if that helps.
Very impressed with it so far, although haven't had too much time to really look at it. The most obvious improvements seem to be the smoothness (for lack of a better word) and lack of any stuttering / lagging when scrolling between pages, which now seem to go in a constant loop rather than having 2 'ends'. And secondly, the keyboard seems much better to me, much more user friendly (my one smallish gripe about the phone previously, having been an iphone convert I felt this was one area where it fell behind).
There are very few differences visually (notification bar is slightly different) and as already mentioned I haven't really had the time to get to know it any better, so time will tell how it affects battery life etc.. but very happy with it for now

They're normally quite a while behind unfortunately. They were the last of the networks to issue the 2.17 update and were about 2 months behind the WWE release iirc.
Just spoke with ATT, the guy said on the website they look at regarding the jellybean update, that it was just updated on Monday December 3rd. It mentioned it rolling out in Europe,Asia, South America now. It said update rollout is "imminent" for the USA. He said in his personal opinion it should be within the next week or so. But.. who knows.. Good news though right!??! :-)

who exactly are you referring to with "guy said on the website they look at"??? because a lot of the AT&T customer service reps will say whatever they think will get you off the phone faster... or chat box as the case may be.
it was a customer service rep and he seemed legitimate.. He seemed just as curious as I was because he said "Thats something I'd like to know too because I have the same phone" there is a website they look at.. i didnt ask what because im sure its an internal resource. But he said as of now its only been rolling out for the SG3, but he read me what the website said and "rollout imminent for U.S" is what it said. then he added his personal opinion like i stated earlier
