Default Just lost almost all my contacts?

Everything has just randomly vanished?

This is including a cantact i added only a few hours ago. The number is listed in my call history but no name?

I did uninstall and re-install whatsapp last night and after i noticed i couldnt find some contacts I went into my phonebook and there was a message (i forgot what it said) regarding whatsapp.

How do i get my constacts back - especially all my ones saved on my sim?

It seems the only phone contacts left is from facebook and old ones saved to the phone (not to my sim).

EDIT - i just checked whats on my sim people->menu->manage contacts->Import from sim and it appears something has reset my sim? How would this have been possible? Is there anyway of undoing this - just wiped off 10+ years of contacts.
