Default HTC J ONE DEBUTS in JAPAN w/SD SLOT

It'd be nice if the rest of the world had this version of the ONE,aimed specifically for the Japanese market:

HTC J One phone debuts in Japan | Latest | FOCUS TAIWAN - CNA ENGLISH NEWS

EDIT/UPDATE:

Upon further review/GOOGLING,it seems as if the listed external SD slot is NOT offered on this model,& resembles the same phone spec-wise that the rest of the world has seen.

EDIT/UPDATE,PART 2:

It appears initial reports were indeed correct & the HTC J ONE will indeed have the external SD slot, much like the version slated for China:

KDDI's HTC J One variant packs a microSD slot (updated)

???????????HTC (????????) J (???) One (??)??? ???1? | 2013? | KDDI????

Default Well that was nice of HTC...

Got an email for a $25 Google Play code from HTC as an "apology" for my order being delayed. FYI, I preordered the 64GB unlocked developer edition directly from HTC about 3 weeks in advance and my order was delayed by about a week.

Default HTC One on Verizon (a whine...)

I really want this phone. I've got a family plan on Verizon, and company discounts that I don't want to let go of, so I'm kind of stuck.

But I want this phone. I want the powers that be get this on the V network quickly. I know I'm not alone here, and HTC just said that shipments for the One are closing in on 5 million units (at least BGR says so: HTC One Sales: 2013 Shipments Approach 5 Million | BGR). That number would be a lot bigger with a Verizon release.

*sigh* I just needed to whine somewhere that people would understand. My husband and kids are just rolling their eyes at me that I want new tech. Of *course* I want new tech - my original HTC Incredible is hobbling along. I'm surprised they aren't more inclined to new tech (two LG Ally's, and a Droid 2 also inhabit my house), but they're addicted to their physical keyboards with the phones...

Default HTC One unlocked compatible with T-Mobile?

Hey guys, sorry if this has been covered before, but I'm having trouble finding a definitive answer.

Is the unlocked version of this phone sold directly from HTC compatible with T-Mobile voice/HSPA+/LTE?

Thanks.

If anyone is thinking of ordering an HTC One from Clove UK, don't.

As of May 21st, their HTC One page is now showing NOT FOR SALE.

If you click on the actual page it reads:

Quote:
PLEASE NOTE
Update 21st May: We are currently not accepting new orders due to ongoing supply constraints. Existing orders still affected by HTC supply issues. Accurate dispatch dates can not be given but all orders experiencing 4-6 week lead time.

If it happens then whether they make it available here or not it should provide a good base for ROMs

Default htc one unlocked

Can someone enlighten me on this:
will htc one unlocked work with prepaid plan on tomb or any other prepaid plan provider? If so, why there are tmob htc one, spint htc one, virgin htc one, etc?

Please explain in some detail.

I came across a post somewhere on different 3G bands used on different flavors of htc one. Is there anything to this and should I be worried about it?

Thanks!

Haven't time to reply in detail, but the issue is frequency bands. You need to make sure they match your network, and different US networks use different bands. They'll work for 2G, but how well for 3G may depend on network and location. If you compare specs for unlocked, ATT & T-Mobile versions you'll see the diffs.

Sprint are different in that they use CDMA rather than GSM, so it's a completely different standard and compatible at all. If you are on Sprint, you need the Sprint version.

I've checked and in Boston T-mobile provides 1900 coverage compatible with the international phone. Is there any advantage in that case getting the T-mobile version?
I assuming there must be, otherwise nobody would be getting it from T-mobile.

T-Mobile has very very spotty 1900 coverage in a lot of areas.
It's going to be several years before they get their HSPA migrated to 1900.

I would suggest that if you are on T-Mobile and plan on staying there... get the T-Mobile variant.
You will have a better network experience that way.

If a pure GOOGLE/NEXUS-ESQUE experience interests you, I'd just sit back & wait & see if the HTC ONE GOOGLE EDITION rumors pan out before getting an unlocked version direct from HTC.

The SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 GOOGLE EDITION,ETA June 2013, is 100% compatible w/either AT&T or T-MOBILE & I'd suspect the same treatment on an HTC ONE is in order.

Is there any disadvantage to getting the Tmobile phone vs unlocked, apart from extra bloatware?
And here lies your issue.... facts about the coverage map:
- It does not show you "refarmed" 1900 coverage
- It does not show you LTE coverage
- And... like all carriers their map is somewhat optimistic.
I find that the T-Mobile map is somewhat more optimistic than the AT&T map.
The only one worse is Verizon, they just used the "fill" button on a map.

This is why I say to use the T-Mobile version.
When you are looking at their map, you are looking at their AWS coverage and assuming that is their 1900 coverage footprint as well is going to get you in trouble.

good suggestions but i dont like samsung phones and cannot wait few months for htc nexus.
im going for htc one now.

you kind of convinced me, it's probably better to have more options spectrum-wise to be on the safe side.
do you know if i can get rid of tmob bloatware?

You can, if you root.....
There is an alternative method that works almost as well that people do not seem to use for some reason and that is the ability to disable an app.
That kills it off so it won't run and it's no longer in your apps drawer.

I think some people remember the days where you were stuck with it and their first order of business is rooting to get rid of the apps but disabling them works just as well.
I am not in dire need of space, some people are and the extra half a gig they might gain is worth it to them.
If you just want them gone without rooting... disable them.

THIS!

Not a whole lot of T-MOBILE bloat to begin with:

1) T-MOBILE My Account

2) T-MOBILE Name ID

3) T-MOBILE TV

4) Mobile Hotspot

5) Visual Voicemail

That's it & I wouldn't necessarily consider 4 & 5 to be bloatware & Each one can be disabled.

This isn't to mention the HTC/SENSE applications, which almost all of them can be disabled.Doing so will also have varying degrees of affecting some of the cool stuff on the phone, such as BLINKFEED & I-R/TV REMOTE/CALENDAR.Not to say some of it can't be disabled,it just depends which features you use & the app(s) that affect it.

Perfect example of this is the TV SCHEDULE/FAVORITES-HTC CALENDAR tie-in:

First instinct is to disable HTC CALENDAR if you are using GOOGLE CALENDAR.The TV remote still works, however,if you like using the program reminder feature w/the I-R/TV remote,it's tied in to HTC CALENDAR & doesn't work w/GOOGLE CALENDAR (lacks shortcut to I/R functions).

Besides,as LoyalServant mentioned, the "bloat" isn't taking up hardly any space & is using little & in most cases no battery when not in use.

That's not to say I don't have any apps disabled, but, just keep in mind that when you do disable apps,it may have an affect on others that you wouldn't normally consider,so,if you run into problems, just go back & (temporarily) enable apps when troubleshooting until everything is back to normal/determination of the cause of issues.

You got sour right. Like the ground in pet cemetery, I'm sour.

There's a trusted leak provider that says "soon" and "very similar" to the One, but it might have some differences and be called something else. Sounds like the One isn't coming to big red.

This is why I have chosen to not do business with Verizon anymore.
I got so tired of the lack of device choices and when they had it they were so locked down they would make Apple jealous.

I bet that Verizon people would rejoice when they kill the CDMA network.. BUT I have been told that the plan is to reject any IMEI that is not in their system once the CDMA network is decommissioned.

That means no GSM phones for Verizon peeps.
I am told that they are looking into the "legal aspects" of that.

By then I am sure the Mcadams and shamu show will have lobbied for a new, friendlier FCC that Obama is giving them on a silver platter.

I can't see Verizon getting a One... HTC has been a little too friendly to the enemies of Verizon - their customers or potential customers.

There have been many Verizon rumors of an impending HTC One, but none have pan out especially the Jennifer Lopez crap that happened. Someone I know really wants the One but she's on the family plan on Verizon so that's a no go!

I wonder how much more success the HTC One would have been had they also released on Verizon.

It would have been an even bigger success.
I bet HTC wanted more control than Verizon would allow and that's why we don't have it.
The other more probable reason is that there will be a droid branded version that Verizon wants.

Thing is... I would imagine by now there would have been leaks... Fuzzycam images.. something...

I bet HTC wanted more control than Verizon would allow and that's why we don't have it.
The other more probable reason is that there will be a droid branded version that Verizon wants.

Thing is... I would imagine by now there would have been leaks... Fuzzycam images.. something...
there have been leaked pictures recently....even people having them in hand. But who knows...when it comes to HTC and verizon, its hard to even believe it when you have it in your own hand.

Plus the reason for the delay i believe was supply...they just didn't have enough phones to be able to support Verizon.

Just speculating:

HTC is looking @ the long-term, & although sales of the ONE surely would've been much better w/VZW carrying it,if HTC can prove that their success isn't driven disproportionately by VZW & their B.S.,then HTC's positioned for a healthier future & relationship w/VZW & all carriers.

I think Verizon wants to distinguish themselves from the other carriers, hence the droid branding for example. That may be only one reason why they don't get all the top phones all the time; Verizon might not be able to get all the same phones as everyone else because whether it's Nokia, Samsung, or HTC, the manufacturers may not be willing to make every phone with different radios, antennas, and the software that is required to run them for CDMA only. Most of the world uses GSM, so while Verizon is the biggest carrier in the USA, it may not always be worth it to manufacture for them in the grand scheme of things.
Then you also have the supposed control demands made by Verizon, but as I understand it, most of the other major US carriers are similar in the bloat and proprietary software the demand on the phones.
Who really knows what goes on in the minds of those who are in control?!?!?!

That would be a pretty bold move, and a big gamble for a company on the verge of being no more.

After having used iOS for the last 6yrs, I finally made the switch. I picked up my HTC One yesterday. 32GB Stealth Black version.

After 24hrs. with it all I have to say is...

Wow. Amazing. I'll post in the ''User Reviews'' thread at the end of this month. I'm pretty sure I'll still love this phone then.

Default HTC One appears in Verizon's inventory system

Hot tip: HTC One for Verizon is loaded in the inventory system

For those on Verizon and wanting this phone, there's still hope.

Also, the Droid DNA for Verizon first made its appearance in the inventory system 6 weeks before on September 6th, 2012 - to be released November 23rd, 2012.

If this follows the same pattern, it would mean that Verizon is holding off for a July 11 or July 18 release date

Not hope anymore, they actually announced it or so it appears.

Just picked up my HTC One at Costco on Saturday for $129. Very happy with it so far.
Showed it to an iPhone-wielding friend, and he was jealous. He stated that Apple needs to get off their butt and compete!

Default HTC ONE on Verizon....or Moto X?

Very excited that they announced HTC ONE for Verizon. I've been coveting this phone, and cursing Verizon for not having it at launch like other carriers.

But now that Moto X is also coming out this summer, it's gonna be a tough decision for me. I'm hoping that Moto X will have Snapdragon 800 with a battery close to 3000mAh. But if Moto X specs are close to HTC ONE, I'll go with the ONE.

TBH, I don't want to shell out $500+ for either phone, so I'll probably be waiting well beyond their release dates for a price drop. (buying the phone outright to keep unlimited data)

This makes for a very interesting Android Summer.

Default Verizon HTC one Coming

After months of telling customers they will NOT be getting the HTC ONE (likely so they can sell their stock of DNA's) verizon just tweeted the ONE will be coming later this summer

Question How can I obtain a the One at a reasonable price

This is for anyone in the UK
But advice is still welcome from those that aren't

So I want to get the One, but on many decent tariffs the phone price is like 69+
I'm not in a state to buy the phone out-right, I just want to know the various deals that anyone purchased to get the phone.
500mins at least is acceptable for me

THANKS IN ADVANCE

[Past experience with trying to get the One]
Mobilephonesdirect.co.uk sucks, been a month yet no phone and i'm sick of waiting, I thought the lack of shipment to the UK was the cause but it was them, they're the problem.

I am twirling happily around the room (ok, not while I'm typing, but just a moment ago I was) that The One is coming.

I've been waiting long enough for a new phone - and since my original Incredible is 3+ years old, rooted, hanging on for dear life, I suspect that there's nothing I can do to keep my unlimited data since I'm moving to a 4G LTE phone. I'd love to buy it outright, but that's not going to happen, unless a miracle happens when I try and pick it up at the store.

Yeah I had a feeling when they gave the DNA away two weeks ago that something was in the pipe.

Verizon said in an e-mail to cnet that they'll offer the one by the end of summer, which dashes my hopes that the rumored HTC phablet will be launching around that same timeframe.

Sorry to change the topic from the Verizon One announcement (congrats to all of you Verizon customers by the way), but has anyone had any luck getting the 64GB One at an AT&T store? Supposedly a few have shown up, but I was told by someone in the store yesterday that it was online only. And yes, I know the website says web only, but I have come across other posts online where some have said they've gotten it in store. Just wondering how common it might be...

The HTC ONE Google experience will be just like the Nexus 4 where it will work just fine on T-mobile with the HSPA+ right?

Did I read the HTC ONE Google experience the Hboot is unlock also?

I find it funny why does HTC bother to make a HTC One for Tmobile when they are doing it with Google?

HTC could just release the Sense 5 and let us install it from the Playstore.

Or maybe they dont have to invest in Sense 5 and just let the user install other launcher.

Sense goes deeper than just the launcher, so I don't think it would be viable in the current form to release it on the Play Store. It's really a ROM replacement rather than a change of apps.

And I'll bet they expect to sell more "standard" One's with T-Mobile than Google Editions. Will be very interesting to see whether the rumour of them making the Google Edition software available to other owners pans out - and if it does, I suspect HTC will be very interested to know what the take-up is.
