I haven't gotten an offical e-mail on a date from AT&T, but I did get one form HTC saying you had to purchase the phone by March 31 for the $100+ off deal. Hopefully that means it'll be out by or close to 3/15!

Default HTC One Price/Future

I heard the price would be about $700-$775 when it comes out, but i don't know if thats true. What do you guys think the price will be? Also will they have a new line of devices? Do you think they will build off of this phone or not. Also, it seems like this is one of the, if not the first phone of the new Android generation/Wave of phones. What do you think will improve as this generation goes on.

I want to hear what you guys think.

(I added the numbers in the quote to make it easier to understand MY answers (subject to correction )

1) Your price of $700-775 (unsubsidized) falls in line with what has been officially and unofficially speculated.

2) Again, pure speculation has it that at most, HTC will offer the One, and maybe a mid- and entry-level device this year. Word has it that HTC is going to concentrate on their flagship to ensure the product remains upper tier.

3) This is the first major release of the calendar year to my knowledge. Personally, I think we're about to hit a plateau of sorts as far as performance and technology (Much like the PC market). There will be improvements, sure, but nothing as great as in the past, outside improvements in reliability.

Those are strictly my view, opinions, etc, from what I've seen, read, heard, etc. I could be wrong, and if you listen to my wife, I probably am!

Well March is here and my contact at at&t hasn't heard anything as of yet, I'm really hoping they push this out in the next week or so...

My 2 cents is that HTC and at&t better get they're game faces on and release this thing already...And I say that because the Samsung event is coming up very very quickly and if the One gets released around the same time I'm afraid it will deff get overshadowed. Samsung just has too much money to spend on marketing.

I've suggested that myself, it's more logical.

Unless HTC just says no, we've had enough of variants (they have said that), but this time stick to that position.

I'd suppose that any contract commitments by Verizon have to be considered - I doubt seriously they'd offer the two side by side.

The Butterfly/DLX/DNA was the mid-cycle step up from the One X. Verizon seems to go with mid-cycle step ups, look at the Thunderbolt, etc etc.

In which case, the One wouldn't appear until later this year in any case.

The link you posted suggested the One could come to verizon in 4-5 months...and of course in verizon time that could mean a year

But i agree they need to consolidate and have one top tier phone...i mean apple has done ok with its sales model

I'm getting it most likely. I want to pre order it, but I don't know how that works. Will I need to unlock it or what. Also, HTC is offering some $100 cash back program. Do any of you have more info on how that works, and what exactly needs to be done?

Also, I truly hope the phone will never be on Verizon. Does anyone know what's going on with that?

Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

Verizon is the reason that the gs3(US) wasn't quad-core. I just feel like somehow if this phone is on Verizon it will be looked at differently, and it might end up backfiring on HTC. The thing is that so many people have Verizon, so it's very likely to be on there (or you can just get it unlocked), so don't worry.

It's absolutely untrue that Verizon was the reason that the SGS3 was a dual core in the US - on all US carriers.

The US SGS3 phones used the Qualcomm S4 processor because its built in world modem made connecting with LTE and any of our other radio standards possible.

Furthermore, you make it sound like that was a bad thing.

The faster dual cores in the S4 were functionally equivalent to the slower Samsung quad core, it saved power without requiring separate modem chips, and it added reliability by reducing the part count.

There was nothing bad about it and Verizon had zero to do with that.

Not only that but the s4 also supported the use of svdo for those on verizon and sprint that haven't been able to enjoy the convenience of voice and data simultaneously over 3g.

Yes. Yes I am.

I've never backed down from a challenge. The HTC One is my next challenge.

It will be the phone for that time -- and in six (6) months another will replace it.

I got the info from one of the Premium members on the site. I didn't realize that to be a premium member you just have to pay. I thought you had to earn it like for Moderators and such. At first I didn't believe that, but I thought he was high up, so I trusted his source. But thanks for clearing that up for me!!!

You should sell it for a couple hundred $ !!

I'm also getting the phone on launch day, but I still can't wait to see what the GS4 will have to offer!

It's already available for pre order on eBay. I imagine once it's released it will be around $700 (depending on your carrier) and progressively cheaper as time goes on.

This has to be one of the best looking phone out there if not the best. I have the original HTC Evo for 4 years now and the HTC One is on my list of phones that I want to upgrade to.

If they price this phone right HTC might have a hit on their hands. If they price it at $600 and up, well too bad HTC. $500 would be the sweet spot. HTC phones suffer massive depreciation in just a few months. I'll buy the next iPhone when my upgrade is dues in august, sell it immediately for a huge profit and pick up a used HTC one for about $300.

If it really is going to Verizon I just hope I can get enough for my Gnex and DNA to buy it outright. My upgrades not till 2014

I've preordered today, phone free for 31 a month with unlimited everything.. I will update to 4G once it becomes a bit more competitively priced in this country. Not really sure when I'll be getting the phone as I've seen today there is a delay in stock but I'm guessing around the beginning of April.

Still hoping to receive my Silver One tomorrow from P4U, had the email this morning from them stating that the Black is delayed and Silver is still on course for tomorrow.

Will be interesting to see if this is the case.

3 mobile still had the silver one listed on their site with a delivery date of tomorrow up until an hour ago, now listed as 28th march delivery date.

Black model showing 30th April right now though...

My girlfriend called up 3 today and they have sent out the silver one for delivery tomorrow. I was certain there wouldn't be any until late april but they said they had a few and I guess she just called at the right time

I've also pre-ordered through P4U, but I've ordered the black. I've always been on edge wondering if I will in fact receive it tomorrow after the confirmation of delays. Especially considering that all the demos I've seen and the ones I've been too have been silver versions. I phoned P4U at around 17:00 today to check on my order and they said everything was still on track for delivery tomorrow. I'm just hoping I don't get the email you received indicating no black available, think I would just die. Have been looking soooo forward to having this phone tomorrow as I'm travelling next week.

I will update on here if and when I do receive it however or with any communications I get from P4U for those on here that may be wondering.

Right so I got the horribly disappointing email this morning that my black HTC One will not be arriving today but instead on the 2nd April. However, they've given the option of changing to the silver variant and receiving it on the 20th March.

I found out Vodafone has the device in stock as well as O2, so I'm heading to the high street now to see if I can bag one. Again will update here on what happens.

EDIT:

So I've been to two different town centres and checked all the carriers and mobile retailers. Bottom line is nobody is going to have stock until 25th or there about.

Vodafone claims to have had a couple hundred that allowed them to satisfy most of their pre orders. I actually bumped into the HTC rep today at the EE store and got excited that maybe she had brought stock with her. All she was there for was to show the staff a working handset and setup the HTC stand, she too confirmed stock would be coming in late next week possibly but more likely the week after.

There is an even further delay amongst the black variant which leads into the first week of April at the earliest. Hope this helps some folks who haven't received any answers yet. If you do find available stock by some miracle I'd love to know as I'm itching to get one of these bad boys!

I'm starting to think I should get a silver one, in part because of the apparent extra delay in the release of the black one and in part because of one review which said the black paint was easily scratched (albeit the reviewer was testing it by putting the phone in his pocket with keys).

Problem is, I don't really like how the silver one looks...

Decisions, decisions...

you will get the same scratches on the silver option as well. lesson here is to be careful and dont put your device in a bag or pocket with things that can scratch it...

I am hoping for a unlock GSM version. Is there such a thing on HTC like what Samsung does?

In the States there's the Developer version for sure. Don't know otherwise - where I am it's really easy to buy any phone carrier unlocked.

Hmm, so my phone was replaced 5 months after it was released. That is one short product cycle
