I'll be going from an iPhone to either an HTC One or an SGS4 so I would be really interested to hear your thoughts on the HTC after a few days of use please.

I just want to say, the sound is AMAZING. I've never heard such clear, rich sound out of a phone. Those speakers are brilliant

Now I really want one

Going to give me phone envy too! I have an upgrade eligible... Mine. Too bad I lose unlimited data if I want to exercise it.

Yeah,a good chunk of cash for the phone indeed (unsubsidized),but, wouldn't the cost be offset by the $ saved vs a subsidized phone+limited plan?

I suppose it depends on how long you keep the phone will determine if it's worth it........

I say go for it,buy the phone outright,& keep the unlimited plan.
Worse case scenario:sell it @ a later date & recoup most of your investment.

What's the cost for US carriers specifically sprint for off contract? 400 bones? I'm eligible for upgrade next year so I'll be paying full price...

Rumored to be $199/32GB,$299/64GB.

Nothing carved in stone to date, but, this is typical subsidized pricing for a flagship model.

That's with a contract, therefore an update.

The dev phone is $650 so I'd expect the retail on the non-dev phone to less than that, just as a guess.

Probably $599 on VZW.

No, Going to have to pass on the One, my wife would have my head if I got another new phone already. plus the DNA is still a sweet phone.

I'll buy one a few months later used off CL. I'm not paying HTC for $600 for any phone. HTC phones dont hold their value for very long.

That is a sweet price, especially w/the 64GB on-board,which makes your guess probably a correct one.

I hope BEST BUY gets the ONE in-stock @ the same time as the carriers do,which I'm guessing that they will, since they're "all-in" w/promoting it.

Agreed, I hope it lands at the same time through all retail channels (U.S.) I also hope for everyone's sake that the availability of the different exterior colors and different internal storage capacities, is the same in all channels and in the correct ratio for whatever the market determines demand to be.

Sounds good to me, but you're probably going to get THAT look (not to be confused with THE look), if your wife's like mine! :-D Fortunately(?), my wife's digitizer is going out again, so she's ready for a new one too! So I'm not getting the usual guff about my upgrade this time! :-D

Default US Availability?

I was told the US wouldn't see any delays for the One and the official launch date was yesterday the 15th. Has anyone seen one at a store or been able to purchase one yet?

Smile Will you be getting the HTC One?

Personally, for me, I will be getting this device - when? Three to four months down the line. Hopefully by then most of the bugs will be dealt with.

Default No HTC ONE For BIG RED

Looks like VZW hasn't quite kicked the exclusivity habit just yet:

What it all comes down to is Verizon will just not give up this whole Droid thing! And HTC probably want's the ONE to be sold as is, the HTC ONE, not the Verizon DROID ONE! It was cool a few years ago, but the whole creepy eye thing is just so nailed into the coffin already... Another words it's ran it's course already and it's time for VZW to just sell phones already and give up the whole Droid marketing scheme already.

That tweet no longer shows up in HTC USA's account. Faux pas maybe?

Edit: nevermind, it's there, had the wrong settings on my twitter account.

Definitely wanted this one, but I'm stuck with Verizon. All the other carriers suck in my area... Stupid Verizon.

Yeah I saw that and it is really disappointing, I would buy it in a heartbeat if it came to Verizon. I switch carriers a lot and promised my wife we would stay on Verizon until our contract is up next yet or I would go back to AT&T.

If this doesn't get released on Verizon, I will probably settle on the GS4.

Unhappy Top of my list, but, I'm on Verizon.

The HTC-One is at the top of my list to replace my Bionic, but I'm on Verizon.

I'll probably jump on the S4 if it comes to Verizon more than a couple weeks before the HTC-One does.

I keep hoping for an update, stating that it's coming to Verizon sooner than previously published!!!

According to HTC, you are probably going to be stuck with the SGS4

Confirmed: HTC One not coming to Verizon in the USA - GSMArena.com news

They tweeted today the One is not coming to Verizon

You can thank Verizon for not getting it sooner. They're trying to unload their stock of DNAs

Thumbs down

I'm not going to wait too long, even though, I think the HTC is the better phone. But, once I've committed to the S4, then HTC has lost me for this contract, which means I'll be better positioned to stay with Galaxy the next time around.

It's just seems so dumb for HTC having such sales issues, to not have their new flagship offered by the largest carrier. Poor business plan to say the least.

It's just seems so dumb for HTC having such sales issues, to not have their new flagship offered by the largest carrier. Poor business plan to say the least.
Thats on Verizon, not HTC...

Verizon decision. They stayed quiet, forcing HTC to announce it.

Don't shoot the messenger!

I know many of the contributing forum members here are anxious for this device to be released in the US. It will come soon enough, so until then lets keep the discussions on topic and keep cool heads. Thanks to all in advance for your cooperation.

Comparing to Apple's announce and release strategy will only be valid when you can buy a phone at the HTC Store near you.

Meanwhile, HTC sells through third parties, and can control what they sell to them for, and when they ship out.

I've seen several cases of MSRP varying by a hundred dollars on the same phone on the same day at BestBuy, Radio Shack and Sprint.

And don't forget the burning HTC had last year, where we knew the prices and release dates until Apple got them held up at Customs.

And what was wrong with the phones? Absolutely not one damned thing.

Who did everything blame, Apple? Nope, HTC.

What was the story when the shipments released, that Apple sucks out loud? No, it was all HTC's fault, they should be more careful to nothing wrong while they were busy doing nothing wrong.

If you were HTC taking this abuse from the government, Apple and the press, and being blamed for it to add insult to injury would you announce a release date?

Put the blame where it belongs, don't slag an innocent company just trying to deliver phones.

Seems where there's no carrier shenanigans and no politicians in Apple's pocket over in the UK, you can get them today and know the price.

Right on time.

So, say it with me, who's to blame here?

In fact, I am confused about HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4, I really appreciate the smart features like the Smart Scroll/Pause, Floating Touch...But the price seems too high to me..

No I don't think where comparing Apple to Android ...That's a useless argument at the height of where Android is these days. Apple is scared of Android, why else would Phil Schiller be running his mouth about BS on the day the Galaxy S4 was being announced. There will always be fan boys, and I laugh at people who still get sucked into the which is better iPhone or Android phone debate.

EarlyMon does have a point on the whole Apple doing devious evil things to other manufacturer's to slow down they're release. And honestly it really annoys the Friggin hell out of me that in this day and age these kind of tactics still exist. Yes I buy Apple products, lol what can I say...They make an awesome lap top...lmaooo! But I don't like bullies, I'm the guy who see's someone bullying another person who's not as athletic or as cool as some would prefer and I usually end up threatening the bully that if he doesn't walk away I'll end up sticking him in a Snapple bottle...But that's a whole other conversation!

Even so, marctronixx made the better call just sidelining things, we were getting off-topic.

We may go ahead and delete my comment and the follow-on, not sure I'd have made the remarks had I seen marc's warning, and fair's fair.

Marc, I'll support your call on that, thanks!

Maybe there's hope for this on Verizon. HTC has removed the tweets confirming it's not coming to Verizon. Fingers crossed.

lalala can't hear you! I want this phone so bad but can't justify spending £500 on it now when my contract will be up in a few months...

(puts on devil costume and sits on shoulder)

You could always go the early upgrade route, most carriers let you upgrade early for a teeny tiny fee.

You'd think HTC would know whether this was true or not, right? I just feel it's Verizon being their typical controlling self, and got ticked off that HTC was speaking for them.

There is some hope that the HTC6445LVW is Verizon's "Droidified" One... Aka DNA Plus. But who knows.
