That's the way most threads go over there to be honest, it can be real hard going at times.

In The Land of Aloha?

You want silver, unless keeping it out of the sun is no problem for you.

I totally took that into consideration, I'm thinking okay at the beach the black would not be fun. Thank you EarlyMon I'm pre-ordering the silver tomorrow

Finally got a chance to have a few minutes' play with one in a shop today. Hard to get a good try out when there's a silly metal clamp around the phone, but I have to say it felt much nicer in my (relatively small) hands than the S3 next to it - the width and the curve both helped. As for the screen, my ageing eyes just found it very natural and restful to look at - rather than drawing attention to itself, the screen was good enough that I quickly forgot I was looking at a screen. Very nice.

Since the 64GB version isn't available here yet (Paul at MoDaCo reports that HTC told him it was coming to the UK, but the initial release would just be 32GB) I guess I'll have time to play with the S4 and see whether Google/Motorola do say anything interesting next month. But my feeling was very much that this was a device I could see myself using for the next few years, and I'll be very surprised if the S4 is able to make a better impression on me.

Default HTC ONE on T-MOBILE

BEST BUY has the ONE pre-listed @ $249 down w/installments.No availability date given yet.I suspect this has to do w/the i-Phone being released today (4/5/13) & to have each phone have their own moment in the spotlight.I'm guessing next Friday we'll have an availability date:

HTC - One 4G Mobile Phone - Silver (T-Mobile) - HTC ONE GLACIER SILVER KIT

now available for order directly from HTC for T-MOBILE subscribers,w/delivery shipment on 4/18/13:

Pre-Order The HTC One Direct From HTC, Ships April 18th | TmoNewsTmoNews

This is for customers still on the classic plans & not for the new UNCARRIER plans

Default [Sprint] HTC One for $99 or $149 Pre-order for New Customers [Sprint]

Haven't seen this posted here so I thought I'd share:

Wirefly is selling pre-orders for the HTC One on Sprint for $149 opposed to the original $199, but only for new customers ( )

http://www.wirefly.com/eCommerce/SpecialOffer.aspx?cid=35905_3f636c228bea4cc0918af8 ad5532c601

Edit: I just checked Sprint's website and apparently if you port your number from another carrier and switch to Sprint, the HTC One is only $99 for pre-order.

This is correct, as far as I am aware, going directly through sprint is the absolute best deal, as porting a number AND using htc's trade in program(where any phone you send in is atleast 100$ or more) your htc one is free.

However if you are not porting your number, wirefly is a better deal than sprint, as wirefly's upgrade cost is 149.99, where as sprints is 199.99.

be sure and read wirefly's terms as you can face some stiff fines if you want to make account changes.

I'm just waiting to see if Verizon is going to be releasing the HTC One. The only reason I want to go with Verizon is because I can easily get Diamond Wireless Protection on it which, IMO, is the best insurance out there (or at least in my area). If not, I may hop carriers to Sprint and get the HTC One there depending on supply and what features I can add to my plan. I'll miss Verizon's reception, but after viewing a coverage map, it looks like out of all the 50 states, mine is the most covered by Sprint in terms of total landmass:coverage ratio.

Question HTC One for T-mobile and the universal version?

Is there going to be some sort of a HTC One that is made for T-Mobile and the unlock universal version?

I remember the HTC One S that has a S3 and a S4.

I wanted to get the unlock universal version but I read that it cant do some sort of T-Mobile frequencies.

Is this too early to tell?

Default HTC One Model numbers

Does anyone know which model numbers are which? Like what is the model number of the one that will work on AT&T's LTE network?

I wish HTC would just make a universal/unlock version like the Nexus 4 and everybody would be sooo happy.

If you want LTE you currently can't have a single universal handset, and the N4 also isn't available for CDMA networks. So there is a reason for having variants. Admittedly there could be fewer 3G variants, but I'm sure they have a reason (it costs to make multiple variants, so it would be silly to make more than you have to).

Most of the locking is at networks' requests. SIM-unlocked handsets are readily available outside the US. I agree that I'd prefer bootloaders to be unlocked rather than unlockable, but again in most of the world it's not a big deal to unlock it.

HTC One® Developer Edition (Pre-Order Today!) | HTC Online Store (US)

Or

HTC One® Unlocked (Pre-Order Today!) | LetsTalk.com

It grinds my gears to no end that my carrier hasn't announced this phone in Canada but the other Big 2 (telus, Rogers) have.

I also cannot preorder from the links above because you need a valid US credit card and address.

Bah seems HTC have delayed their SIM free stock again (ordered through Handtec)... i'm looking at the final week in April now :P

If anyone notices somewhere in the UK selling the phone SIM Free in the next week can you please post it here. I can find it in stock locked to my carrier "3", in plenty of places but I really want my updates in a timely fashion this time around.

This is really beginning to remind me of when I tried to get a Desire HD on launch and it took me 1 1/2 months to get hold of a SIM free one...

Looking like some of you guys across the pond might be getting it before me at this rate...

Yup, I got that email from Handtec last night too, and I`ll be waiting longer as I ordered a black one as well.

I`m probably going to hang on and wait, but you can see why their profits are 98% down on projections when they cant get their marketing and logistics sorted out...at this rate this`ll be the last handset they ever make !

Final week in April....isn't that when the new Samsung flagship is released in the UK? What a cock-up from HTC! Getting brilliant reviews and no one can even get their hands on a phone let alone buy one!

Its pretty bad up here (canada).

Best buy has a preorder up for rogers so far, but told me for 30 days they would not sell me the phone even IF they do get it for Bell. Only new contracts or upgrades for 30 days.

Also Bell is apparently not announcing but planning to release on the 19th because of the prior to delays.

We are also apparently not getting a 64gb variant, which isnt a huge deal but still seems odd to me. Ive been grilling every cell phone store i see to try and get info out of them.

Personally i dont need a 64, but would buyit if they made it available. I would be fine with a 32gb in black preferably (but mot sounding likely) or silver and will be throwing on the cruzerlite a2 case in either clear (for silver) or black (for the black) as well as ghost armouring the phone asap.

Just wish i knew for sure when it was coming out

My One is supposed to ship on 4/16, hoping they pull an Apple and I get it that day. One more week to go. It's killing me over here.

Yes, I know, it's just a phone.

I'm guessing this happened on either late night 4/8/13 or early morning 4/9/13:

BEST BUY no longer has the ONE for T-MOBILE. They've totally removed it from the website, only showing the SPRINT & AT&T models, as if the T-MOBILE variant was never there. Not even available as an unactivated (unsubsidized) purchase

One of two possible explanations :

Sold out & no longer taking orders for the T-MOBILE version in the future..
Or, took it down & refunded those who pre-ordered, as the original orders were w/the classic plans, which are no longer offered by T-MOBILE.

Anyone happen to order the ONE on T-MOBILE via BEST BUY & have some information on the subject?

THX!

EDIT:

Found a partial answer,regarding T-MOBILE classic plans:

Best Buy Internal Doc Says Simple Choice Plans Coming At End Of "Fiscal Year", Classic Plans Still Available | TmoNewsTmoNews

Now,to find out about future stock for the ONE one T-MOBILE @ BEST BUY.......
(an SKU search [8548102] on BEST BUY's site turned up nothing)

EDIT PART DEUX:

Found a sign-up for it on BEST BUY's e-BAY store:

https://ebay.bbymsolutions.com/detail/htc-one-silver-t-mobile-/2986

I personally haven't heard anything but it might be something regarding their non contract plans. I know we don't cover them anymore (although we still offer the old plan), plus I believe as a company we have been moving further away from t-mo. In our store we don't even offer it unless you mail the phone. Seems stupid but hey, they pay the bills!

Found a sign-up on BEST BUY's e-Bay store.Yeah,the BB in my area stopped carrying T-MOBILE postpaid phones long ago , but,still help out w/ordering & ship-to-store delivery,etc.....

HTC is doing a terrible job at marketing this phone. They should have had it ready once announced and now the First is going to get all the attention. On HTC website it still lists the one as coming soon. The webmaster needs to be fired. Shame that HTC is going to keep struggling.

Ready once announced has its merits, but by that reckoning what are Samsung doing announcing the S4 a good month before anyone can lay hands on it? Obviously Samsung's marketing department should be fired en masse

And you really think that the First will get all of the attention?? By my reckoning the First and the One are aimed at completely different markets, and will barely compete with each other at all.

Laugh Contract deals

Hi everyone

Just wondering what sort of contracts people in UK have managed to haggle/beg for successfully?

I have ordered the One from Carphone Warehouse as an early upgrade and its coming on Tuesday. I'm on Orange and getting Panther 36 contract = £36pm - 24 months, 1gb, unlimited texts, 600mins and sky sports and deezer music service which do NOT get counted inside the 1gb limit so I can use them as much as I like.
Phone is NO extra cost!! (Despite Orange telling me it would be £70!)

What do you all think - is this good? Has anyone got anything better so far??

Thanks

How can that not be good. You are getting the phone for free. No such deals here in the USA.

Pre-ordered mine and the wife's today at local BB Tried to go on line, but wouldn't let me do 2 phones in a single "basket" (and therefore take advantage of the 18mo 0% financing offer), so I had to go to the store . I'll have to go back, though on the 19th, assuming they get their supply...

It's kinda funny... she was all ready to get an EVO LTE until I told her I was going to get her a One, too, just so she wouldn't be lusting after mine!!!! Now, she's ALMOST as excited as I am, even tho I'm MUCH more the "nerd!"

I mentioned to my teenage daughter the other day that I was thinking that my phone was getting a bit old. Her instant response was "Are you getting the One?".

The first will get attention all over the media because of facebook. The one will not get any media traction, it will just be another phone. HTC website does not even link you to where you can order the one. It just says coming soon.

Angry Pre-order joke!

So I went to AT&T twice. First time they didn't have the black version in 64gb. No release date for the black version either. That was last week. I went back in today and tried to pre-order the silver 64gb version. I am purchasing the phone outright because I used my upgrade on the HTC One X+ in November.

I got told that because I am purchasing outright and not in a 2 year agreement, I am unable to do the pre-order. I must be able to do a 2 year renewal agreement and since I'm not eligible for the upgrade, I'm not allowed to get the phone until the release day! So I asked if there was any possible way to have a phone placed on hold so I can come in and get it right away, and no go on that.

Is this some kind of sick joke?! I think I'll be emailing HTC CS because that means, the offer is invalid to me on their website and I was going to try to take advantage of that.

that doesn't make any sense. I just ordered the Developer Edition HTC One today instead of going to AT&T. That way i'd get AT&T and T-mobile LTE without being tied to one carrier.

That doesn't seem right. Have you attempted going to another corporate store or even a third party retailer like best buy or RadioShack? Come to my best buy, I'm sure we would be happy to preorder one for you

This doesn't sound right at all. Either it is a misunderstanding or it is a third party store (Not a corporate AT&T) that commissions their employees based on contract signings (Yes this exists). Having said that just go online to AT&T and preorder the 64GB version on a Month to Month for 649.99 (I just checked and it is available) or buy the Developers Edition.

Can you manage to get an AT&T 64GB version ordered via BEST BUY? I haven't seen that option on-line.
I'm leaning towards T-MOBILE & settling for the 32GB version, but, others who may have a good trade-in allowance might be interested in purchasing an AT&T 64GB off-contract via BEST BUY if it's possible.

I'm interested to see how hard FB push the marketing for this. Unless they do I think the media attention is already ended, and the "Facebook phone" story has already been told.

But if your belief that the FB launcher makes this phone a threat to the One is correct, that would make it a threat to all new phones (and HTC would at least benefit from making the First).

Personally I don't buy it. My prediction is that the S4 will get far more attention than the First, and the S4 is a direct competitor.

Default pre ordered today with sprint

Hello

I pre ordered my One today. If I recall, people who pre-ordered the EVO LTE got the device one day early?

Will we get the one a day early? or will it be on that Friday?

Absolutely. HTC has said that the One will be their flagship for 2013, so to say that they have a lot riding on this release would be a gross understatement. While they may not be able to keep up with the marketing budget for the s4, they will be going all out on advertising the One when it becomes available (they might have to hold off for a while due to supply shortages.)

I think HTC knows that the First is a niche product, since unless you're one of those people that checks Facebook fifty times a day why would you consider getting a mid range phone that is overrun with status updates and pictures of people's cats.

The First is going for $100 on ATT, with lower specs than the One.

http://www.phonearena.com/phones/HTC-First_id7797

You can disable Facebook and get a stock Android, not Sense, phone for cheap. Great move by HTC. They ought to sell quite a few.

We have threads in the Lounge on it and Home and a First forum to discuss more details on that.

And they're also releasing a Sense version of the same phone.

Those following announcements have known all along that HTC will be producing more phones this year than just the flagship One.

By definition, flagship means that you have a fleet ok.

If you want a nice dual core 4.3" phone, the First or its equivalent may be the phone for you.

If you want the One, it's far better.

I don't believe that there's any cause for controversy or alarm here.

Pay attention to this link. Use your order #.

Sprint | Check Your Order Status

This is the standard message all pre order's are getting:

Quote:
Status: Thanks for pre-ordering the HTC One Silver with White accent. You are one step closer to getting your phone. Keep an eye out for a shipping email with your tracking information. We will do our best to get it to you by Friday, April 19. For questions, visit sprint.com/preorder.
As long as it gets here by the 19th I am fine with that. I don't want it to be like the LTE last year with the Apple delays.

If you want more info, contact sprint as they are the official word.
