Pre-ordered mine yesterday through Best Buy, I'll be getting a $50 store gift card and then another $100 buy back from HTC = $50 phone!!!

Now I just hope the dev community will get behind this phone, I've been spoiled by the OG Evo support.

Congrats on the 50.00 phone! Nice! I would expect the dev community to get fully behind this phone, especially with HTC selling a Developer's Edition.

It does seem like the devs are very much behind this phone being that it is only just out of the starting gate. There's already five different ROMs available for the HTC One and i'm just trying to decide which one I like the most!

I love the dev support on this, the phone isn't even out yet and they already have it rooted. On a side note, a little loving for all you Sprintaphiles. HTC One Glacial Silver for Sprint $129.99 for contract renewal on Newegg. Obviously, if you are not a Sprint customer you are better off going through Sprint because the phone will only cost you $99.00 for porting your number over. (Thanks Sprint for ignoring your current customers in favor of new ones)

Been watching this phone for sometime and after reading the Anandtech review and the users on this forum, I can honestly say i will be getting this phone for sure. Plus when you have the original HTC EVO for 4 years it's time.

I'm really interested in this phone. I always check everywhere before buying anything. I had signed up online at Best Buy for the $50 card with my next smartphone purchase some time ago. Not sure if people know but Sears(yes Sears) online sell smartphones too. I got my wife her Blackberry style new when released for $29.99 . They have the One right now with Sprint for $149.99 with a contract extension. Better deal then Best Buy for upfront money anyway. Just an FYI for anyone interested.

I'm so tired (already) of waiting for word on a Verizon release. Somebody please just lie to me and tell me they announced a release date...

I am amongst the few who can wait until the smoke is cleared before getting this bad boy. In the meantime, my Evo 4g LTE is doing fine.

I have a feeling it is going to be quite a wait for this on Verizon unfortunately.

Heck they have barely mentioned the GS4 which we all know will be the hottest selling android phone this year. So this sucks for those of us who are wanting the HTC One on Verizon.

Default Not a bad deal from T Mobile UK!

As an existing T-mobile UK customer I toyed with the idea of switching to EE to get 4G (but it's only available in a few major cities at the moment) so thought I'd get the phone on an 'unlimited' TMo plan instead at a discount and switch to EE sometime next year. After a bit of haggling (as a existing customer the upgrade was already discounted, but I quoted Vodafone and Three offers) I managed to get them down to 30 for phone and 32/month contract for T Mobile Full Monty (36/month normally) ultd texts/mins/data (and the option to switch to EE and 4G at a later date) - all in all I thought I got a pretty good deal?

Default Confessions of an iPhone user; 1st touch...

I have been looking at the reviews of this phone for some time with great curiosity and some trepidation.

For all of those that will poo-poo the iOS affinity, I work in IT for a living and hate messing with stuff in my off time. I guess it is a bit like a car mechanic- they tend to drive some of the most dilapidated cars on the road.

I have really had no complaints with my trusty old iPhone 4 other than the small screen and slow data (3G only) so I have been looking to upgrade. The initial and obvious choice was the iPhone 5, which was a tremendous disappointment. This sent me in search of a new device and Android looked promising...

I stopped into an AT&T store today just to see if they had a display model. They did, in fact they has several and actually had to wait my turn to fondle this techno-gem...

Fit an finish were amazing, coming from Apple. The display is impressive and much crisper than I expected. Perhaps my perspective is skewed by too much Apple flavored Cool-Aid but I was impressed.

One worry I have had was the transition to the Android "feel" and interface. I have no reason to crap on Blinkfeed and have to say I really like it- customizable to provide useable information and if HTC continues to tweak it, I see it being VERY flexible and a tremendous value-add.

I know nothing of Android but read about the concerns realting to only two buttons for navigation. Since I am an Android virgin, I noticed nothing that would dissuade me from using the hell out of this (I guess ignorance is bliss). I will say that it seems that the HTC logo would make for a good home button...

1st impressions were 100% positive- this will be my next phone.

Welcome to the forums!

Like you, I came from an iPhone although I have to confess this isn't my first Android phone and i'm keeping the iPhone 5 to use as a work phone. Check out my thoughts in the various threads on the HTC One forum. Mine are completely subjective, I realise, but I am an iPhone user through and through so hopefully my thoughts will be useful to you.

You've made a good choice, I just cannot stop using my new HTC One.

Not a review but first impressions from using the phone at the store.

Hardware - simply amazing. I am an Apple lover for their hardware and build quality. The HTC One makes my iPhone 5 feel inferior. It actually makes my Note 2 feel like a Fisher Price toy.

Software - Sense 5 is great. I love Blinkfeed.

Camera - Looks great on the screen but when I looked at photos on a computer, not the best. Washed out color and poor crop quality.

If Verizon picks up the HTC One, I am in for one first day it comes out. First in line.

Nice one!! That's a really good deal. I wanted to switch to T-mobile but thought it would be a massive hassle that Orange would no doubt mess up anyway. Going to stick with my 1GB 36p/m Carphone warehouse deal - not as cheap as I'd have liked but as someone here pointed out least the phone was free. Thought about getting EE but right now it is just too awful and far too expensive for words. Think we made the right choices ......I hope!

Default Verizon: I just have to be patient

Of course I want this phone, but not enough to switch from Verizon to ATT or anyone else. It's just too complicated, and probably expensive. I fully expect to hear an announcement by Verizon by June about the HTC one variant, probably called the DLX. Just to show you how excited I am about this phone, I currently have an Iphone 5 which is great. But this looks even better!!

Update: I could not wait. Sorry Verizon. I ordered the 32 GB in Silver from ATT. Website says it is shipping the 16th. We'll see if they have a hold on it to make sure I don't get it before the 19th.

If Verizon doesn't get the HTC One by early May, I think it is pointless to even release it.

You'll be well into the 2nd/3rd quarter and newer devices are on the brink of release: iPhone 5S/6, Note 3, Motorola X, and even the GS4.

At this point for me, it is whoever can get the phone out first on Verizon gets my money.

An update for UK customers.

Amazon UK:

Amazon finally got stock in of the silver HTC One 32GB on Fri 12th. Sadly, it sold out immediately as all stock had been allocated to everyone who had pre-ordered. There is no stock available at present and on their page it says -
Quote:
Due to demand, there is limited availability on this product. Stock will be on offer as soon as it becomes available.
With regards to the black HTC One 32GB, it says -
Quote:
Due to demand, we will ship stock for pre-order customers on or before April 26.
(I wouldnt be surprised if that date changes to May)

Clove:

If you're ordering from Clove they have also updated their page and for the silver HTC One 32GB it says -
Quote:
Silver units currently have an approximate dispatch time of 14-21 days from date of order. All orders are being shipped in chronological order as soon as we have stock available.
Basically you'll get it 2-3 weeks from when you place your order. So if placed today you won't get it until end of April/beginning of May.

As for the black HTC One 32GB, it says -
Quote:
Black units delayed until early May. Exact shipping date to be confirmed.

Handtec:

Delayed again. For silver HTC One 32GB, it says -
Quote:
Further delay from HTC. Further stock expected week commencing 22nd/29th April 2013.
Black HTC One 32GB -
Quote:
Further delay from HTC. First stock expected to be released end of April/early May 2013.

Delays, delays and more delays. If this is how tough it is for the UK market goodness knows how bad it is for everyone else! This is potentially my next phone. I'm 95% sure of it, but for HTC this is a disaster and a win for Samsung. You gotta feel sorry for them. Who's going to wait that long when you can just pop into a store on the 26th and pick up the S4 because it WILL be in stores. That is guaranteed.

Those dealers sell SIM-free, off contract phones, and have orders well exceeding their supply.

High-street stores do have them (not sure of stock levels) but will mainly be selling them on contract (worth more money to them, so common when phones are new and demand exceeds supply).

I don't have any official data, just my reading of what's reported, and experience of how these things usually work.

HTC One unlocked and developer editions shipping on April 23 | Android Community

Based on the above article, can anyone tell me if the 64GB HTC One Developer Edition will work in the UK?

Smile Questions about the Black HTC One?

I've skimmed through most of the threads on here and haven't found the answers I'm looking for. I'm on AT&T and want the Black HTC One 64GB. I've gone in to several stores and talked to some reps. None of them have been able to tell me anything other that the Silver One is available for pre-order and the Black One should be available later, possibly on the 19th. So does this mean I will not be able to pre-order it and take advantage of the free media link?

Does anyone know if the Developer edition will be available in Black? Since I'm on AT&T and may want to root my One, this may be something I'm interested in.

If I can't pre-order the Black One, I may just pre-order the Silver 64GB One, and get the free media link. Then sell the Silver One for $500 bucks or so, and then just order the Developer edition if it's available in Black.

For those interested, I'm getting the Poetic Atmosphere Case. I REALLY like the look of the back of the phone and want to show it off. However, I've read the Black One picks up finger prints much easier. So the Atmosphere will offer great protection, while allowing me to show off this sexy phone!

Thanks!

@TheSuper: From a quick glance at the specs, it will work for 2G and 3G in the UK but not 4G (none of the UK LTE bands are supported).

You need a US address to have it delivered to.

Why not just buy the media link seperately.

According to this reply from Larry Meadows on the HTC blog, the developer edition is silver only: Introducing the HTC One Developer Edition — HTC Blog

Thanks Hadron. That's a bummer. Now the question of what's more important, being able to root and have S-Off, or having it in Black? Arg.

An XDA member reported that the HTCDev bootloader unlock worked on an ordinary ATT One. Obviously I cannot guarantee this won't change, but the ability to root may be there anyway.

I don't think that you get S-Off with the dev edition, though it will be very interesting to confirm when people start getting them. In that htc blog post's comments the htc rep consistently answered as if the normal HTCDev unlock, which is not S-Off, was equivalent (though there was no hint there that ATT phones would be unlockable).

Follow up: engadget are reporting that HTC have told them that the ATT One will not be supported by the HTCDev unlock. If correct (and it makes sense given the developer edition) then it might stop working at any time.

I'm just throwing out theories: I suspect that Verizon will probably get the HTC One when both the silver and black are available for sale, which means May. I'm surprised they've not announced new phones, because they usually announce something new by now for this time of year.

And yes, I'm another one who's going to be a first day release for the One if it comes to Verizon. I need a new phone soon; my original Incredible is kinda trying to die.

Just got an email today from Sprint. The email says they are offering $100 off any phone thru 05/09/2013. This bring the price down to $99.99 with 2 year contract. Before it was only for new customers, now it seems available to existing customers too. FYI for anyone considering this phone. Still deciding between this and the S4.

Can you link or quote it to confirm this? Have not seen this anywhere.

I e-mailed my sprint guy about it, but any more backup evidence would be awesome

Wondering if that's a regional thing, as I just tried to upgrade and the standard 199 came up for me. Personally, if I could get it at 99, it would be a no-brainer for me.

I got the same email. It is a Sprint Nascar email but it is poorly written:

"For a limited time, you can save up to $100 on any phone.
Get a new phone with Truly UnlimitedSM data with no metering, no throttling, and no overages all while on the Sprint network. It's the best way to stay on top of all the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series action."
If you click on the link to get 100.00 off it brings you to the same deal where you would have to switch to Sprint to get it. In the email if you read the fine print it says
"Port-in Instant Credit: Offer ends 05/09/2013. $100 instant credit applied towards purchase of qualifying Sprint phone or smartphone. May require port-in from an active number (wireless or landline) and activation at time of purchase."

Oh ffs... Just checked my delivery estimate from expansys (ordered through htc.com/uk) and there is another 5 days added to my shipping time. currently at 9 days now.

Getting to be ridiculous now. Not even the joke that was getting hold of a SIM free Desire HD on launch was this bad...

Yes, thats the email I got. Now I guess I'm not sure if it will go thru. Waiting till around the 9th to see about the S4 and will make my decision then.

Edit. just chatted with Sprint. No deal on the extra 100 off unless you are a new customer bringing over your number. I still may get the phone as it may be sprint is only getting the 16gb S4 at first. I really don't want to wait.
