[OFFICIAL] Are you getting The One? (price/carrier/color discussion)
Pre ordered mine yesterday while the "event" was finishing.........are you impressed enough or totally against the One?
It may not be to everyones taste but i like the look of it, in Black, the Silver option looks cheap and tacky to me.....not that it is, it just doesn't float my boat.
And i'm sure Sense 5 is a grower......if not i'm sure the Dev's will soon take care of it.
I can't trade my wife's old Shift for the $100 due to mechanical damage.
My 3vo is in _perfect_ condition, and $100 seems fair enough to avoid the hassle of selling, but the problem with that is - it's a 3vo, and I don't know if I'll ever want to give up my 3D pda.
That leaves my LTEvo - and if I ever break or lose my One, I'd have to fall back on the 3vo instead of the missing LTEvo - and the LTEvo has got me pretty spoiled, there's just no question about that.
I said with the last three phones that I was going to wait, and went ahead and got them on launch day (ok, launch plus 2 for the og Evo).
Maybe if I say I'm getting this one right away, I'll actually wait this time.

Call me Mr. Rationalization,if you will.I can think of a lot worse things to be spending money on.
Uh oh. I just realized that I took those black-tie at BestBuy thing recommendations to heart - I have some kind of special trade-in allowance on my LTEvo.

Something tells me I'm going to be glued to One threads much like I was for the 3VO... My upgrade isn't due until April, so maybe, just maybe, I can wait the 6 weeks
I've Noted all the devices in the Galaxy that's Sprint, and find none that are neither the Apple of my i, nor very Optimus. So, at this point, it's very likely this is The One.

Well they aren't offering the 64GB version in the UK yet (are they anywhere else?), so that means I'll get to see how it works in real life before I'm seriously tempted. I fear that holding one of these without checking my bank balance may turn out to be a mistake
Keeping an eye on this and the Motorola X, and hopefully by the time the 64GB version is available I'll know something solid about the latter.

I'm really interested in this device and love the look of the chassis, screen and specs. Not sure I like Blinkfeed and want to see if it can be turned off before making a decision. And I need to know the price in my region and what Samsung has to offer as well. Looks like I'll be waiting a few weeks to decide.

I just got a new windows 8 computer at home so the blink feature seems kind of cool to me except for if it's going to drain the battery or not. But I really am interest in this phone but Sprint said I am not due for upgrade till 5/2014. They said they still do the buy out your contract and upgrade early thing I thought that was discontinued also. So hopefully selling my LTEVO with my 2 good cases and Sprint car dock will pay for my early upgrade. Sprint said my phone is only worth 104 bucks I can get more than that for it with accessories on Craigs List or ebay. And last year I sold my 3D and accessories for 250 and at BB I got the LTEVO for 99 bucks so I had money leftover for accessories and that was my last upgrade and they changed everything I have to wait 2 years now. I hate that 10 year people don't get yearly anymore.
But this HTC One I read it's coming out in May will it be considered the new EVO? I'm sure there won't be this HTC One and then a new EVO at the same time. And there not going to call it the EVO One it's already on Sprint's site as HTC-One. But I like the kickstand I have now. And what is this Zoe feature? How will the camera on this compare to our 4GLTE. I have a couple friends that have the SIII which I like but I love my HTC Sense. One friend sold her LTEVO for the Note II and loves it. Don't know if I'd like a phone that big. I don't even remember what size screen I have now but this HTC One screen says 4.7 I think that's what I have now. I was kind of hoping for one like the Droid DNA but this looks cool too. I would be ok with a 5 inch screen I guess if the phone was thin I don't know. And no memory card I hope I can be ok without that. I'm really wanting a removable battery again but willing to give this a try.

I was going to write a long diatribe on the pros and cons of the HTC One but anyone who knows me knows I will get the damn phone anyway. I have had an HTC in my pocket since the HTC Mogul and Windows Mobile 6. Quickly though the selling points for me are the Screen, Build, and the Camera intrigues the heck out of me.

This year we're hearing the One is coming to Sprint and everyone is getting the same phone (which, they told us that last year).
If it's an Evo, it's going to have bonuses, if the past is any indication. If it's going to be the One, then that may mark the end of the Evo line.
I bet 10 quatloos we're getting a new Evo.
Normally I would agree with you but I would bet money it will be the One and not an Evo. HTC has been talking about marketing being it's biggest struggle in the past and marketing multiple variations of the same phone for all the different carriers is insanely cost ineffective. They will follow the iPhone strategy here I think. Now I would not bet against us never getting another Evo but I will take the bet that this one will literally stay the One. Also Sprint already has the press release and webpage
Ok sikclown, it's official, I owe you 10 quatloos. Times were you could find images for them and I could have made a virtual payment here, but no, Google search just continues to degrade.
Funny to me that Sprint and others are calling it BlinkFeed with a (tm) on that, while HTC is calling it Blinkfeed.
Anyway - not sure I care for a non-Evo One.

IMHO, Sprint would be foolish to abandon it.
Perhaps this is HTC twisting Sprint's arm to try to enforce the HTC brand?
Or there's something on Sprint's side and the new overlords not going for it, in which case, this could be the new Spanking. (Sprint + SoftBank = Spank).
re: [OFFICIAL] Are you getting The One? (price/carrier/color discussion)
I would be strongly considering the One but I'm tied into a family plan on Verizon... I am however liking what I'm hearing about the One. Maybe I'll just get the DNA when my early upgrade comes up but I can't say I'm not disappointed that this is not on VZW...

I am sure I owe you several quatloos from over the past few years on here so let's call it even
I am ok with the non-Evo One because I am hoping it translates into actual accessories. With all the carriers having the same phone we may actually benefit for once from some honest to goodness useful accessories. Plus I really am rooting for HTC to have a huge win here and agree they needed to simplify things for the average consumer from a marketing standpoint.
AND..... I just so happen to have several upgrades available on my Business account so I might as well test this thing out..... for the good of the Forum of course.

So do we think this phones going to be 199 or does this mean it's going to be more? I guess it makes sense to not make it an Evo because of accessories. I've been in HTC fan since the original EVO. Actually I had a TP 2. I'm sure I'll want this phone.

32GB version will most likely be 199.00 with the 64GB version at 299.00 depending on if Sprint carries both versions. AT&T has already said they will offer both the 32 and 64gb versions but neither T-Mobile nor Sprint have specifically mentioned storage amount.

Agree, but hoping that 64 GB would only be $250 - I'm googling for precedents.
Last year we had the 16 GB going for 200 for the Sprint LTEvo, SGS3 and DNA on Verizon. Going on the idea that each year we get more for 200, I concur, 199 for the 32 GB model makes total sense.

Good guess on the 64, if Sprint gets it.
I am trying to find my reference point of 299 for the 64GB but I know one of the sites had that price point. Possibly an HTC Press Release; I have HTC One Bookmarks and articles everywhere!

I would get the phone in a heart beat if Verizon had it.
I'll bet when they update the DNA later, it'll be this.

I AM SO Jealousss of Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile users now.
I thought the days of Verizon not getting devices that are coming to other carriers were gone!
My contract is on a month to month basis now and I am probably just going to cancel and port my 5 lines over to AT&T.

I wouldn't worry. VZW has something up their sleeves. They usually do. If only I could squeeze some info out of my buddy who works for the PR company that represents them.

Maybe they do. I'm just not holding my breath for it.
I remember we missed out on the HTC One X last year and before that we missed out on the Galaxy S2.
re: [OFFICIAL] Are you getting The One? (price/carrier/color discussion)
For several months, DNA users have been happy with a bump over the One X. I'll bet the cycle will repeat on Verizon at about the anniversary mark, but that's just a guess.
I have the Nexus 4. Probably going to sell it and hook up with the ONE.
I'm excited about having a phone with an improved camera, dual front boosted speakers (try watching a YouTube video AND listening at the same time on a Nexus4), and aluminum casing (glass scares me)
I'm going to root anyways, so if I'm ever missing "pure vanilla android" i wont.
As much as I love htc and just about all their phones, for some reason I am just not as excited as I would normally be for this ONE. I will probably end up getting it anyway, I just really hope the camera is more than just hype.
The HTC One is the manufacturer's flagship device for the first half of the year. The device's specs put it in the top of the smartphone pyramid, featuring a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 1080p display and Android 4.1... Read More
