Welcome to the forums, Ginny!
By any chance have you downloaded a new homescreen launcher?

Gotta say I love blinkfeed, love how it's full of things I find interesting.. given time it will get even better once you can stop it doing duplicate stories.

Confused Blinkfeed Calendar not working

Anyone else having problems getting the calendar to come up properly in Blinkfeed?

I'll admit, It really don't want any social features on Blinkfeed and I'm looking forward to more productivity services for it.

So at present, the only thing I want in there is the calendar but it simply won't appear on it's own. I have to add another feed to get it to pop up and even then it doesn't keep track of the day. It's currently just sitting there displaying Saturday's entries.

Hmmm, I didn't realize that was an option. Unfortunately, though, I'm in the US and haven't gotten a chance to play just yet. If you find a solution, please post. I was spoiled by the Palm Pre's calendar, and keep looking for something kind of similar. Thanks!

Default Can Blinkfeed be completely removed?

I know you can reassign your Home screen to a different panel, but does this mean that Blinkfeed will still be using up one of your seven panels, or can it be removed altogether? Or are you only left with six customizable panels? Or does Blinkfeed perhaps use an eighth panel, so you still have seven?

No Blinkfeed cannot be removed. At least not without rooting and a custom ROM I imagine. Also I am pretty sure you can only have 5 panels (6 including Blinkfeed) but I could be wrong.

Nope. I think most phones are sticking with the 5 panels like stock android. I am actually down to only using 4 of them.

Install custom launcher like Nova. Blinkfeed out of the way, no rooting.

I really like Blink Feed. Suits my needs well. One thing though. The Auto refresh doesn't seem to work. I have to drag down the screen to get it to update.

Any advice gratefully received.

Exactly the same for me, I love it and it's being added to as I've noticed a few more sources added in the past week. It doesn't refresh for me either, will probably be a fix coming for that if most people are having the same issue.

Does that have anything to do with wifi/cellular updating in settings or has that been covered?

I'm not sure what you mean. I have my Auto refresh set to "Using mobile data or Wi-Fi" but it does not Auto refresh.

Ok, that's what I meant. I was going by my discussion with HTC, so I apologize for not describing it well.

Do you have background data on under accounts in your settings? That should be the default.

After that, I got nothing, so it would be a bug as you expected.

I dont believe that you can. What I did was make the 3rd panel my home screen before I started placing everything.. that way blinkfeed is all the way to the far left panel. And my calenders and music widgets are one to the left or right

Default Sense Lock Screen Apps

So the lovely people that designed HTC Sense giv us 4 options for "customize" out lock screen without downloading a locker. All 4, but one, keep the default 4 icons on the bottom of the screen for "quick launch" capability. There is a problem with this, they are not easily customizable. I dont want to launch my camera from the lock screen or my internet. In fact, I just want a lock screen with NO apps on it.

Is this possible or do I just have to use the 5 choice of no lock screen at all? Anyone else notice this? Anyone else fixed it and I am just blind? I am a 4 year Android user here and I feel like somethings are just getting more difficult instead of less. Love this phone though!

When you go to your apps launcher you should be able to slide them out from the lock screen at the bottom and replace the app with what you like.

Default Panels and Observation

Hello:

Has anyone figured out how to reorder the panels with out deleting them all and recreating them in the correct order? In addition, can the BlinkFeed Panel be placed in the center of the five panel setup instead of all the way to the left?

My biggest complaint about the new HTC One is that sometimes it can be difficult to add apps to a folder. You have to move the icon to the exact right spot or the folder and the icon just keep switching spots. Other than that, I love the new HTC One!

Thumbs up

Welcome to the forums, Ronko. Congratulations on your new HTC One!

I don't have mine yet, but I've been reading in this manual/guide and tricks and tips site a bit: HTC One Manual and user guide ... check out the links on that page for deeper info.

A One user will chime in with an answer to your query about the panels/screens etc, but I thought that site may be useful to you in the mean time.

Howdy RonKo and welcome!
I am unaware of a method to re-order the home screens, be it a customizable (non-Blinkfeed) window or Blinkfeed itself.

I've played "chase" with the icons when trying to start a new folder, once. After a couple of rounds, I gave up and started over and found the quicker you are at letting go of the icon after you placed it where you want, the better it is. Of course, once you've started the folder, just open it up and add it, using the plus button. Hope that helps!

Unfortunately there is no way to reorder the panels nor move the BlinkFeed from the far left. As far as adding apps to a folder, as was already suggested, the fastest and easiest way to do it is to open the folder then click the Plus and check off the apps you would like to add.

Default App drawer (Sense) customization?

Is it possible to customize the HTC One app drawer (with the stock launcher and no root)?

The new drawer is more like a home screen. It has the clock at the top, the launcher bar at the bottom. And the menu and button for the play-store are hidden. If I wanted something like this, I could just make up a home screen. Wish I could revert to a basic app drawer without all the extra's.

Yes. Pull it down as if you are refreshing your email or blink feed. You will see alphabetical. Hit that than you will see the option for custom

Default [Sense 5] Any way to get toggles in the drop down menu?

Any way to get toggles to turn on/off things like wifi, bluetooth, brightness, location, etc... to drop down from the notification menu?
Right now, you have to drop down, then press the settings button in the top right to get to any toggles... kind of an annoying step.

I had a jailbroken iPhone 5 and intelliscreenX was SO clutch in the notification menu, so I just got used to it.

I know there's toggle widgets, but they're all so unflattering IMO. I hide them on the 2nd or 3rd page, which kinda defeats the purpose haha

Red face UK Blinkfeed is more US based.

Hi All,

I have just recieved my new HTC one and in general im very pleased with the phone, I moved up from a desire HD.

The one question I have is in regards to the HTC blinkfeed. I have set it all up as best I can but the problem I find is most content is either from or aimed at the US.

I have selected UK and tried to filter the topics but an awful lot of the content it puts on my feed is from American News etc. Is there any other way to change this and maybe point it to the BBC site for its info. I know the phone is very new and so there is limited info on it but although many people I have read about do not like Blinkfeed I can actually see the benefit but obviously only if its relvant to where I live. I dont mind getting global news but it seems to be overun with Local American topics, and as much as I love reading how George bush likes his Pancakes etc id really love to know whats going on a bit closer to home!

Any help on this would be great.

Oh and great site !!

Regards,

Chris.

Hi Chris, and welcome to AF

I don't know about the BBC (don't have the phone myself so far), but I remember reading that the Guardian and Independent were amongst the sources available.

Everyone hopes the list will be expanded

Hi there. Many thanks for your reply. Yes those two are in the list but it seems they only give you a tiny amount of info. Every other option you can select ie lifestyle, sport, tech, gadgets, entertainment etc all seem to come from the US sites. It's a tad annoying. I hope they update soon. If that was sorted I think it's a great resource. Unlike many have said I quite like the idea of not having to have various widgets etc and just use the feed.

Cant wait for the BBC to become available on it, even sky news would be better for the news and football.

Yes thats exacly what I thought. It is very US orientated. Its getting a bit of a bad press I think, I can see the good to it if they get relevent news on there. The gallery is taking some getting used to also!

Default Cropping photos?

Why does Sense want to have me crop photos for either contacts or wallpapers? Isn't there a FIT TO SCREEN option? Contact photos become stretched.

EMF,

there is a certain resolution that the photos need to be when making them wallpapers, contacts, etc.

use wallpaper wizardrii in the store. I used it on the LTE evo and had excellent results.

Wallpaper Wizardrii

It's one of the many reasons I turned Blinkfeed off by putting a launcher on the phone. Selecting 'Football' does not give what us UK customers think it will but includes American Football in there as well.

the day we can incorporate our own feeds into Blinkfeed is the day i'll think about removing the launcher, but only as long as they allow us natively to have another row of icons on the home screen too. Seriously? 4x4 on a screen that will happily support 6x6 is just silly. So much free space wasted. Why stock ROMS don't allow us to do things like this is beyond me.

I was wondering what happened to all of the Blinkfeed partners that were on-board,from the 2/19/13 ONE Press Event.I guess not all are available in all markets.

It'd be nice to have access to all (& more) Blinkfeed sources & access via an HTC website,to be d/l directly to your phone.Something like the GOOGLE PLAY STORE,but, less the PLAYSTORE app on your phone.

As late as yesterday evening,I was determined to give Blinkfeed & the stock U/I an undetermined amount of time before looking at other options, but,I've had a change of heart & disabled Blinkfeed & installed HOLO LAUNCHER HD PLUS & replaced Blinkfeed w/GOOGLE CURRENTS.

I'll re-visit the stock U/I & Blinkfeed later on, after some updates & tweaks have been implemented.

Much like the play store reviews, Wallpaper Wizardii has a gawdawful UI. Any tips on how to use it to properly resize pics for contacts?

I would not have posted it if i had bad success with it.

the UI leaves a lot to the end user to figure out but it worked beautifully for me. people who have positive praise rarely post.

it took trial and error but that was mostly me figuring out the resolution of the photo I was working with. without the ability to see your phone, i can't offer much help over the internet....

What's the native resolution for contact pics using the sense Contacts app. Figuring out the original resolution should be easy. thanks!

what happens if you go into people, then edit the contact and choose the photo from the gallery? does that still make for a bad image?

Yeah, that's when the cropping window comes up. Is there a trick to cropping? Didn't know it would be such a chore.

And no "fit-to-screen" option anywhere, right?

Default Alphabeticalize Home Screen???

Hi

Does anybody know how to alphabeticalize one's custom Home Screen? In other words, the screen that appears when you left swipe the Blinkfeed screen, as it has me stumped!

TIA

Howdy Jazz... Don't think the system will alphabetize for you, as it does in the app drawer, but you are aware that you can add panels, or re-designate "home" by pinching the homescreen?

The only way to do that is to place the icons on the screen in Alphabetical order manually.
