C'mon peeps! I'm dying to see some real world photos taken with the One! The camera will be the deciding factor for me between the One and the "other" phone.

I'll get some up tomorrow. It's late here in the UK now and it's chucking it down with rain too, so not ideal camera weather.

I'm off out tomorrow so i'll try to get some then and post them up when I get back.

Wait, you mean you won't go out in the middle of the night to take photos for us?! That's where this camera is supposed to shine!
I'm just kidding of course. I look forward to seeing some pics that you come up with tomorrow. Thanks in advance

Here's two shots I took today. Couldn't really take many more as I was pretty busy working unfortunately. the camera is pretty good. Obviously not on a par with an SLR but still plenty good enough for what I want it for. I took few other shots but realised I had zoomed all the way in and they were on a lower resolution as I had been playing with the phone earlier, so I binned them. Overall, I give the camera a 7/8 out of 10.

Here is a quick snap I took the other morning with the HTC One. Not arty or anything - jus a simple photo of my car when I was washing it! Just wanted to test the camera out!

Lighting wasn't brilliant - fairly cloudy at the time.

Here's a point and click shot of my wife's plate, sticking to her diet in a restaurant today, settings are; Exposure +1, Contrast 0, Saturation +1, Sharpness -1, ISO Auto. Looks like i might need to drop the exposure or saturation back to 0, Didn't focus on anything in particular, just point and click.

Coming from an iPhone 4S, I am. The larger screen may have something to do with that as well. Not a big photographer by any means and only really done point and click shots, but results easily compare.

I've moved from iPhone 5 (had every version of iPhone previously) but I got bored of the small screen and lack of innovation under the OS. I love the HTC one. The build quality is great. The camera is good. But not that great to be honest. Has some cool tricks. But actual quality is mediocre at best compared to my iPhone. But overall a fantastic phone. And so easy to get all my stuff off my mac & iPhone and into the HTC. Thank god for sync manager.

Well... It's a job perk.

I adjusted the levels and ran a 50% sharpening mask with a 1 px radius.

Here is the original straight out of the phone image.

This is an iPhone 5 pic of the One, took it last night. (unedited, straight from phone)

I was going to use Nova Prime and import the settings from my Note II but I THINK I like Sense just fine with no need for Nova this time.

When it comes to TouchWiz, I do not care for it... Nova is the first thing I install.

Even the keyboard on the One is good and I found no need to install SwiftKey! This phone is full of surprises.

The only addition to the UI that I put on is Wave Launcher.

Not to throw the thread off topic, but what do you think of going from the note to the one? Is it hard to get used to using a much smaller screen again? Anything else you miss from the note?

If you have time, try various shots with some changes to exposure, contrast, saturation.

From looking at the array of photos we have from forum members I'd say the one takes decent shots! Not great, and not terrible, but decent. Which honestly is a little disappointing to say the least. But I'll save my final judgement to when I've actually snapped a few pics myself. I'm a firm believer that it also matters who's taking the pics, and it's sometimes the photographer that makes the difference from time to time.

I will say the above pic of the Breitling is very good compared to some of the others.

I'd say you've summed it up pretty well. It is capable of taking superb shots close up and colour wise it reproduces very similar to what you see (without tinkering with settings) sometimes when taking shots of things further away, in dodgy lighting or with a moving hand it can take a few shots to get the one you want. This camera has a bit of a steeper learning curve for those who are just used to pointing and shooting but it's not a bad camera, just takes time to get used to it... I'm still getting there

I've come to still expect this from phones, simply due to sensor and lens sizing. I'm known to shrug cell phone cameras off as long as they take semi decent pics anyway because my wife and I do photography as a hobby, so anything that is worth photographing, we take a Canon 5D MKIII around to shoot with... but in a pinch a cell should do a decent job. It seems to me that the phone, just like all the others i've used, really struggles even in moderate lighting, and to get anything worth while the light has to be spilling in (Again, lending back to the sensor/lens).

I have all the AT&T phones and I swap constantly, going back and forth. I normally carry about 4 phones in my bag lol, all active.

Right now I carry the Note II, Lumia 920, BlackBerry Z10 and the iPhone 5. (the iPhone is the only permanent fixture).

The hardest thing to give away from the note, hard to believe, is the stupid S-Pen. I absolutely love that gadget.

I didn't see this post until now, but I will try that when I go to take some more.

As I ended up going into work today, I couldn't take the pictures I planned on taking.
I did take a quick snap of the cathedral in my city though

Auto-exposure on overcast days seems like it needs a little user help.

This is an iPhone 5 pic of the One, took it last night. (unedited, straight from phone)

That's a beautiful phone. I think that alone makes it better then a plastic S4.

Wish it was easier to focus with macro mode on.

That being said... Which pic do you think is better?

I like pic 1 better as it seems to be sharper, though from (seemingly) further away.

Again, I like pic 1 better. It seems sharper, though the color in #2 is richer.

There are a lot of jpeg compression artifacts in both, so, hard to say.

The second one seems to have fewer, so I'd choose that one.

From the classic "The Picture's Bride"
"But it's so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the artifacts into his own picture or his enemy's? Now, a clever man would put the artifacts into his own picture, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the picture in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the picture in front of me...."

It's inconceivable!!!

I read several days ago some stores were already selling the phone. I think they didn't read the memo of when the phones were supposed to be sold.

Interesting that we moved toward macro shots.

I own a watch collecting forum and to be honest, 90% of the photos I take with a camera phone will be watch/wrist shots so the ability to focus close is critical to me.

I have dismissed many great phones because they were not capable of taking a good watch photo lol.

Here is one from yesterday.
