members here are trying to offer you assistance. if you doubt its the cable and you refuse to try another one or another computer, what do YOU think the issue is?

it is absolutely possible its the cable as I have seen it discussed over many forums for years. may not be in your case but it has been an issue.

take the phone into the shop and have them smoke it over or do a factory reset. there is not much people over the internet can do to help. since its less than a month, if they have a grace period, just return the phone and get a new one.

was the phone bought used? is it rooted? whats the carrier are you using?

if all you want to do is transfer files to and fro, there are apps in the store that allow you to do that wirelessly. you can also use BT.

No, the phone is brand new, I bought it from Vodafone.

Talking about apps, can you please name some that will help me to transfer music from my PC to my phone ?

My bad - as you don't have another computer, I was asking what version is your PC operating system.

Maybe it's a known version issue and we can point you at drivers or something.

But marc is right - you can always challenge them to try it at a store and that can help troubleshooting.

There are a number of file sharing/syncing apps. If you're using iTunes, check out iSyncr in the Play Store.

Really though, the easiest way is to just use Airdroid if you're OK with drag and drop.

And Airdroid works like the name sounds - transfer music, pictures and more without cabling hassles.

How exactly?

If you want to use the PS3 controller with your One, you need an OTG cable.

If you want to stream content from your One to the PS3, you can do that wirelessly, the One will be a DLNA server because the PS3 is a DLNA player.

If you want to cable them together and use the One as mass storage, so far as I know, you can't.

The Jellybean spec excludes usb mass storage protocol (UMS) and the One complies with the spec.

It only supports Media Transport Protocol from Microsoft, aka MTP.

The PS3 wants UMS.

There are no additional drivers needed to simply drag and drop files from the device to a PC.

Unless you have an older Windows.

I would have posted this sooner but I just found it.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-hardware/how-do-i-install-the-mtp-drivers-for-windows-xp/fa19dfda-aae2-4ea1-b959-fe175a3ebb59

The 3D was different, UMS only - HTC Sync was providing UMS drivers.

How do I install the MTP drivers for Windows XP? - Microsoft Community

I couldn't remember. I just remember having a bunch of problems getting Windows to recognize my phone on my old Evo3D.

Also, I misspoke earlier. I said I hadn't connected my One to my PC, but I must have, because I have about 6 GB of music that I copied to it. I just plugged it in and it worked. It was so simple, that I obviously forgot that I did it.

In that case, the only thing I can think of is agree that the cable is probably bad. I suppose the actual MicroUSB port on the phone could be loose. Or just a generally jacked up install of Windows.

I think the problem may be my PC because now I get this error.

Try -

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=16546#

If that fails, try -

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Hardware-and-Devices-troubleshooter

And if that doesn't work, according to Microsoft support, the final answer for error 43 is (quoted their solution in full below) -

First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

a) Click "Start" button, type “devmgmt.msc” (without quotation marks) in the “Search” bar and press "Enter". Click “Continue” if necessary. b) In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK". c) Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.

I used both of your tips just to be sure before connecting my USB again so I don't know which one of them worked.

Thanks again.

Maybe the trouble can end.

As I mentioned, you can view them via wifi thanks to DLNA.

You cannot transfer them by USB cable.

But it's probably really easy to do what you want - next time, take it easy, and just answer so we can help.

Put this on your One -

Check out "WebDAV Server"

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.theolivetree.webdavserver

It'll give you the full http address you need.

Pay attention to the settings.

Then go from here -

http://www.ehow.com/how_2216307_access-computer-files-from-ps3.html

I'm sure that you'll have that sorted in no time.

PS - you can probably also do it with AirDroid on your One.

Pick whichever is easier.

Then you may need to transfer the files to a thumb drive using an OTG cable and move them over that way.

Olivetree, makers of the WebDAV server, also make an ftp server - you can try it but I'm not optimistic.

Pictures you should be able to save via DLNA via wifi.

This is PS3 compatible -

Check out "Skifta"

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skifta.android.app

I know your One has similar to Skifta built in, but I don't have a One, so I can't give directions.

Check your manual for wireless media sharing or DLNA, no promises but maybe it won't glitch.

But I've heard that Skifta seems best with the PS3.

Default HTC One no longer connecting to PC

Hello All,

Recently my HTC one has been unable to connect to my PC so I can transfer music and videos onto the internal memory.

When I connect the USB to my computer, the USB connected message pops up on the phone but nothing comes up on my computer until I get a message saying "USB Device not Recognised". The computer's troubleshooting guide just says to reconnect the device and if it doesn't work, replace the device. It was working fine up until a couple of weeks ago.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

At the moment I think it might be my computer. I haven't changed anything on my phone, its not rooted, I've tried a bunch of different USB cables and I'm on Windows 7. I have tried manually uninstalling the drivers through Device Manager and reconnecting the phone but it keeps coming up as an unknown device. I do have HTC Sync manager installed and that isn't detecting the phone either.

for grins its recommended to try another computer. you dont need any fancy drivers to swap data to and fro.

if you have a home network, you can use apps in the store that transfer files wirelessly over your network. i use wifi explorer pro but there are others.

i dont have any drivers installed. if i need to plug up the phone (htc one max) (windows 8.1), its immediately seen as a drive and i can do as i please. dont worry about the htc sync trash, you dont need any of that.

Yeah I'll give it a go on another computer when I go over to my friends house tomorrow. I just bought a whole bunch of albums (about 1GB worth) so I don't think it would be practical to transfer wirelessly, would it? I did some digging around in driver manager and I found this error message "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". Does that help in any way?

Thanks for your patience mate, its pretty frustrating when an otherwise awesome phone acts up like this.

yeah could be anything causing the issue, but trying a different computer will easily let the class know if its the device or the computer. google the error code and "android" with it and I bet you will see others with the same issue....

ive transferred video files without incident. i use the wireless way every time and it never fails. 1 gig total music is not a big deal. factors depend on your wifi strength, interference in the freq you are using (im on the uncrowded 5ghz freq and using a draft-AC router with a laptop that has a draft ac dongle).

give it a try. if these are albums then transfer one at a time or two at a time. if its just tracks not in albums, transfer 10 at a time, etc.

you know what they say, once you go wireless, you dont go back!

Default HTC Sync Manager can't see my phone, but Windows can!

Hello there,

I'm unable to sync my Outlook data with the data on my HTC One.

Apparently, HTC Sync Manager will do this. However, after starting the program and connecting the phone (I can hear the USB "connect" tone, and Windows Explorer shows the phone), HTC Sync Manager says "No phone connected".

I'm running Android Jelly Bean 4.3 on an HTC One (I *think* it's a One X), and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit version.

Any ideas why this might be happening? Thanks, and Happy New Year to you all!

Are there any updates for the drivers for HTC Sync? That's normally the problem when it can't see the phone.

Default Connecting to an amplifier with a micro usb cable

an ONKYO amplifies with the supplied micro usb cable.

I have tried to connect my phone to my amp but the display on reads "USB no storage".

I've tried to play it from the music stored on my phone and from google plays external storage but to no avail.

Any help appreciated.

i read here:

Onkyo | TX-SR309

Quote:
Direct Digital Connection of iPod/iPhone via Front-Panel USB Port

The TX-SR309’s front-panel USB port lets you access MP3, WMA, AAC, and FLAC audio files stored on a USB flash drive or iPod/iPhone
does not state its compatible with Android, only iphone/thumb drive. this could be the issue.

EDIT: if you see the usb icon in the display on your phone, swipe down the notification drawer and see if there are other options avail.

in order words, pull down the notification drawer , tap on the usb icon if present, ad see if it gives you other options.
