Default HTC Trade Up Program

Anyone but me taking advantage of the Trade Up program ? I got my old phone all boxed up and ready for shipping.
I'm suppose to have a $100 gift card on the way.
I sent in a Cricket Score I picked up cheap on clearance a while back. Still new so they can't complain about that.

Anyone else in ?

Purchases of the one from any source should be fine. I hope Newegg gets my phone to me by the 30th. I have proof that I preordered it, but that may not be enough since they need the MEID #. Of course if the date of preorder is on the receipt and not the date it was paid for, all will be fine.

They actually tell you how much your phone is worth through a little drop down menu. So if your phone isnt there, you will know before you decide to send it. I took advantage of it and sent in my wifes crappy Lumia 900.

I sent it in on monday so I doubt I will hear anything for a few weeks. Pretty AWESOME program!

$100.00 just like any of the other phones. You were guaranteed to get $100 or your phone's worth, whichever was more.

I went to the site and started the process but ran into two problems. My HTC Hero 200 was not listed and it was asking for a promo code. I must have missed the boat again.

Check your e-mail notification from HTC for the code.If you deleted it,just call them back,I'm sure they have some sort of record of it.

Awww shucks, it's only available in USA. The canadian version is "coming soon" BUT when you go to the Canadian version of HTC
It says "Upgrade to the new HTC One®.
Get Paid $100" in the bottom left corner. I registered and it says I'll be hearing back from them... whenever.

I assume that you mean an email from HTC ONCE I BUY THE PHONE. I have not bought the new ONE, yet. Is that where the promo code email comes from?

No,I signed up for special offers about a month or so ago,I believe it was from this:

The New HTC One® Inside Story

The deadline for a qualifying purchase is APRIL 30,2013 & must be submitted before MAY 31,2013

If you don't get an immediate response,I'd make a phone call or chat line visit to get your verification code.

The website has been receiving maintenance upkeep/updating,per my phone call to support on 4/25/13.
I cannot register my phone w/HTC ATM due to this & was told to try again a few days later.

Just a note for all those interested, I received an email from HTC today stating that they were extending the cut off date for the trade up program to June 19th.

However, If you didn't sign up for the preorder deal before April 4th, you may not be able to take advantage of this deal. This is from the upgrade program terms of use page section 8 paragraph two "To receive the $100 trade in value (or actual device trade in value, whichever is greater) in exchange for the Device you trade in, you must register valid email address on or before April 4, 2013 at HTC OneTM Upgrade site, you must purchase and activate a new HTC One by May 19, 2013 and mail in your used Device with a valid Proof of Purchase of your HTC One (copy of UPC or invoice/receipt showing the IMEI) post marked by June 19, 2013."

I just unrooted my Evo 4G, pulled the micro SD card ( I gave the 8 gig one that came with it to my sister a while ago and sure as heck wasn't about to give them my 32GB card) threw a charger plug and a beat up HTC branded usb cable in the box along with my proof of purchase for the One and the trade up voucher which I printed off in a box and put it in the mail. Hopefully it gets processed and I get my $100.00 in a timely manner. I did contact HTC to ask if they would take the phone rooted, without a battery, without a charger and cable, and without a card, they said yes, but the terms of use page clearly stated that the battery, and charger MUST be included with the phone, so rather than take a chance on it, I threw them in with the phone.

In the FAQ's there's a section saying that it's not necessary to include the charger or other accessories. It does say to include them though, if you'd like.

I included the battery, but that was it. We'll see what I get back.

HTC now offering the trade in deal this weekend only, this indicates that the current extended trade in deal is only for people who registered before April 4th.

I almost sent my IPhone5 in .. but I bought my One from someone who won it and I never got a receipt.

I sold it for $550 on kijiji instead.

All in all I worked my own "trade-up" plan.

My One was $475
+ $25 for antiglare ghost armor screen protector
+ $25 to unlock
+ $20 for HTC hard case
+ $5 for a new SIM
= me breaking even ;-)

Trade-in your old phone for an HTC One and get up to $375

I also see it's on through this weekend. With promo code "htc100" I get $100 even for my old Touch Pro 2! So I can keep my Evo 3D, trade in my TP2 to get $100. Only thing is it says the device you are trading in has to be active when you buy the HTC One. So I'll need Sprint to first activate my TP2 before I go in to buy the HTC One.

Pretty cool though. Only thing is if I don't like the HTC One and want to return it within 30 days that won't work, as it has to be active for 60 days for you to get the $100. It says if you aren't eligible they recycle your phone and give you nothing.

I can't believe it but they will actually take my old Samsung Moment! According to the terms and conditions the phone has to be activated before activating the one, I am currently using the Photon. Just wondering how they can tell the what phone was previously activated, any ideas?

I would call up your carrier and have your Moment activated. With it activated (and your Photon de-activated), take your Moment into the store when you go to buy the HTC One. Then when the One is activated, the device that was active before that was the Moment (your Photon was technically de-activated).

I need to do the same thing with my old HTC TP2. I need to activate that, and de-activate my Evo 3D. Then when I go into the store, I'll have my TP2 activated when I buy and activate the HTC One.

The other potential sticking point is whether the used device you are trading in requires proof of purchase (they don't want to buy stolen phones). If it does, and you have your original box or receipt you should be OK. I sent them an email asking, but probably won't find out for sure until next week sometime.

I think I like the Galaxy S4 better, but that would net me nothing for my TP2. So I'm contemplating doing the following:

1) Buy the HTC One this weekend to qualify for the trade in promotion.

2) Trade in my TP2 to get $100.

3) Wait until I get my $100 from the trade in (within 60 days). Then sell my HTC One on Craigslist or Ebay. Off Contract price is $550, should be able to get roughly $500 after fees (if selling on Ebay), or close to $550 if selling via Craigslist.

4) Have Best Buy price match Sprint's $599.99 price for the off contract Galaxy S4. I'd have $500 from the HTC One, plus another $100 from my old phone, meaning it was an even trade.

5) I'd still have my Evo 3D as a backup phone

Sort of a round about way of getting the Galaxy S4, but would enable me to get $100 for my old piece of junk TP2. Does this sound like a viable plan?

Sounds like a lot of work to net $0

Why bother with the one then? I must be missing something

It is a lot of work, but the Galaxy S4 is $220 (matching Amazon), while the HTC One is only $150 (matching Amazon). So savings of $70 + tax, and I'd get $100 for my TP2.

But if I did this, I forgot I'd also have to pay sales tax on the full $600 retail of the S4 (which is an extra $50), so wouldn't be much different then if I just sold my TP2 for like $40. I think I might just try to see if I can get $40 for it on Craigslist instead.

No, they need the proof of purchase for the new phone, not the old one.

That's what I thought too, but when you read the terms and conditions, it's hard to tell if they also need it for the used one to prove you own it and it isn't stolen. And they say if for any reason you don't meet terms and conditions they keep your phone and send you $0. So it's a good thing to make sure before you put your used device in the mail. Once it's in the mail it's gone and you can't get it back.

Hmm, I'll have to shoot them an e-mail. The terms and conditions have two contradictions. But when you print off the shipping label it says

"PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE:
Your product
This shipping voucher
Valid proof of purchase for your new HTC device"

It says nothing about the proof of purchase for the old phone, but if they had wanted that, I could have produced it. I tend to keep receipts for major purchases until I no longer have said purchases. If they did need it they will get an ear full from me.

I went to the special offer page... put in the info about my old phone... and clicked "reserve for later".

I ordered an HTC One yesterday, meeting the requirements. Now the email I have tells me:

Purchased your new HTC phone? Here's what to do next:
• Come back to this email and click the "Get your refund" link below
• Enter your Personal ID (noted above)
• Enter your proof of purchase
• We'll bring up your saved information and you can complete the process for your cash refund
Please note: Your trade-in estimate expires 30 days from today so complete the trade-in process soon.
Get your refund

I go to the link and it seems to be the same link I used to get my personal id. But, when I put my personal id in that is in the email it says invalid promo code. Anyone know what I am doing wrong.

(That said, I may decide not to get the phone.. I'm not sure if this phone is worth $150 more than the Nexus 4 [$250 more if this trade-in doesn't work], which was the other phone I was considering.)

Already did that. Interesting, after I posed that I get an "updated GetRefund link" email which brings me to a different page that has a place to enter my personal id code.

I am able to get the the page but it is requesting info EIN and stuff about my phone. Guess I'll have to wait until I have the phone before I can finish that off.

I initially signed up for the $100 upgrade program, back in March, and never received my code. I called HTC to find out what happen. I received a called from HTC yesterday, Sunday 05May2013, and the nice HTC representative sent me an email with a number to the rebate program. I called today for my code and I am receiving a $100 for my old Sprint HTC Hero, which I bought in 2009. I included by original Sprint phone box, the otter box case and the USB cable. The Here had no damage on screen or body.

I posted on the 24th of April regarding sending mine in and I have yet to hear if it has made it to HTC in one piece. It says still in transit but I can't track it either. It's kind of disconcerning because they say it takes 7-10 days and I only live 2 states away from where it was going. I have submitted 2 status requests on the site and nothing. still keeping my fingers crossed that I am not out a phone that I could get some sort of money for.

I am getting ready to send in my old HTC EVO 4G...
Have to take off the otter box and take off the screen protector too as it has a couple scratches on it.
I did the factory reset and it Looks like all the old pictures, contacts etc. are gone - But are they really gone???
Also wondering what you all sent in?
I was just going to send in Just the phone along with the requested documents - is that OK?
Was thinking about keeping the SD card and since I have the new HTC One, could keep the old charger for other rooms. As many stated above - just want my $100 and don't want to mess anything up...
Thanks - TimmaY

Never give up your sd card. There are programs available to recover deleted files and pics. You would hate to think that great pic nobody was supposed to see was now available and out there

Sadly, any info stored on internal memory can be recovered as well.

Bah chances are 1 in a million that someone with those skills would come across your phone and actually recover anything

Possible yes, Probable not really
those refurb houses have 10's of thousands of phone's to deal with chances of yours being recoverable are slim to none.

Maybe a chance you are willing to take, I'm not though. My piece of mind is worth the 100 bucks. I like my old phone too. I will find a use for it.

Really nobody knows what happens when the phone is gone, so to say it is probable that this doesn't happen is just your guess. Not flaming you, just saying.

I'm just factoring in the fact that maybe 1 in 1000 people have a clue how to get the deleted info from a phone.
Take that time's the 10,000 phone's that come into a center like that and it's just not probable.

Not probable does not mean there is no risk.

I'm not super worried about someone finding something on my phone - I really didn't use it for much more then talk/text/car show pictures/surf the web When Sprint's network let me arrgh

Really just want to make sure I send in the right stuff to get the $100
Would like to keep the 8G SD and my old charger if I could.... Any thoughts or have you seen any rules anywhere that I am missing??? Tim
