It may make it to the International One about the same time it does to the Butterfly, but the various carrier branded versions probably have a LONG wait before we see the update - Especially in the US.

According to the video, Sense 5.1 adds statusbar toggles back. Hooray for that, that was standard in Sense 3, although they've been somewhat rearranged if that vid is an indication.

I'd expect some other Sense improvements along with this, they've had time for plenty of feedback from One users for areas to improve.

Butterfly users are feeling the sting of no longer being on the flagship phone (and others are feeling some strong update desires), so it makes sense (no pun intended) that they're preparing a broader update, not just for the One.

I had read reports that HTC is making a push to try to get all their handsets up to date and keep them there.

We will have to see but if it's true then it is good news for HTC handset owners.

Early: I thought you were on the fence and had not decided if you were getting a one?.
What did you decide?
You getting one?

Attached is last night's status from my LTEvo.

As you can see, I need a 64 GB copy for Sprint for whatever I do.

The One is still the leading choice.

Great DAY!

What have you got on there.... blueprints to the space shuttle?

The problem is that AT&T is claiming the 64GB version...

I do miss some aspects of Android 4.2+ that are not present on the One, so hopefully this leak ends up being a release so the rom cookers can make us up a nice sense 5.1 /4.2 rom

I do development work, so that takes a chunk, and music, my pictures and home videos, books, etc etc etc.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that ATT's lock on the 64 GB model is permanent.

Hopefully, they'll get back to the old ways of being first with updates.

That would be great but my sticking point with HTC is their loss of interest when they release a new flagship.
Right now the One is it but what happens when they release a two or something..

I do development stuff too but I dare not carry the source on my phone

The LTEvo is slated for a Sense update with Blinkfeed for example. They maintain support, this is the Butterfly update after all, they're just slow.

They just didn't used to be.

BTW, I can't trust things to non-local storage and I like not being shackled to a laptop.

PS - Of course, Jellybean 4.3 is about to be announced, so even if they bring out 4.2.2 next week, there will be much upset in the land.

As a developer I can understand what grinds the gears of users... I get to hear it from my users.

People will wonder why they don't have sense 5.1 and Android 5 this go around and I will probably shake my head when I read all the HTC hate in blogs and on forums.

Already seeing complaints that 4.3 won't be Key Lime Pie lol.

If you're not familiar, Google for Louis C. K. everything is amazing and nobody's happy.

Default Android 4.2.2 rumored to release in a few weeks.

While trolling the web for something that was totally unrelated (no not "naughty stuff") I ran across this, it would seem that an HTC Dev.tweeted that the update would probably be coming in two to three weeks.

I read online that One and Butterfly can now be updated to 4.2.2 but I checked and it says no update available.

I'm already running the Sense 5 4.2.2 update and it's everything an update should be. Nothing but enhancements. The quick settings panel is one of my favorite additions as well as the home button now acting as a menu key if u choose so in the settings. Phone is about the same as far as speed goes for me. Still trying out battery. But they really did right with this update. Running the international ROM leak for my ATT One by the way.

Default HTC One Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update was a complete misunderstanding

HTC finally pulls through and it seems that the company is planning to release a much awaited Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update for their favorite aluminum clad Android device, the HTC One… or so we thought. Unfortunately for us, it seems that it won’t be updating anytime this week after all. What seemed like an official announcement from an official insider turned out to be mere speculation. What made the update so believable was because unlike the previous situations where the release of the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update was merely speculation and rumor, the source for this impending update is an HTC representative. One of their ambassadors, Yves Wi, has recently updated his Twitter account with some hints about an impending update to the HTC One. In fact, he said it would be updated on the 12th of June.
Going by his blog, lots of users spent the day checking and checking for an update. Unfortunately, the update never came. It seems that his source was also merely an interpretation of HTC’s Facebook post. There is actually no official word on when the update will come. The Facebook post was talking about checking regularly that morning for “updates”. It seems that the updates that the post was referring to were Blinkfeed updates, as hinted by the image that accompanied the post. Looks like some “ambassadors” need to check in with more concrete sources before embarrassing themselves. At the very least, Yves apologized for the confusion and subsequent hype that it built.
Unlike other flagships such as the Galaxy S4, it seems that HTC failed to launch with the latest update in tow, despite coming out at about the same time. In fact, the HTC One was supposed to launch earlier than the Galaxy S4 if it were not to some supply issues brought about by the manipulation of aluminum.
Still, Yves claims that the update will indeed come soon, but there is no indication as to how “soon” that actually is. Many speculate that the update will arrive this month, simply because it seems that the official word on the streets is that the HTC One X, the predecessor of the HTC One, will get Jelly Bean 4.2.2 sometime in July. The predecessor is highly unlikely to get an update before the latest flagship, so it might just be a month or two before we finally jump for joy.

Late due to manipulation of aluminum??

If that's the best they can do technically... Just saying.

Going to take a nandroid before applying it (been using temp recovery to keep the option).

And with one small settings change the three dot menu bar is gone

Info for rooters: the 4.2.2 update also updates your bootloader. You'll still be able to use the HTCDev unlock (I expect), but you will not be able to use revone to gain S-Off, and probably not moonshine either (not confirmed - the XDA thread for that is very quiet).

This may change in future, but right now if you are interested in S-Off do it before accepting this update, as you won't be able to after.

(Further discussion of this should be taken to All Things Root).

Just checked again and got the bug fix. Hopefully the update will follow.

EDIT: Yes downloading 4.2.2

Hoorah!

Although it seems to lose Google Keyboard. Still shows up in the market but disappeared on the phone. I can open the app from the market but when I press "enable in settings" it's not there...

One funny little effect I've just noticed. Apex Pro is very smooth on this device except the zoom out to screen previews was always a bit jerky (especially if triggered by tapping the home key rather than pinching). Nothing in Apex settings seemed to make much difference, though maybe I didn't try hard enough. Now with 4.2.2 that animation is suddenly extremely smooth. I guess it's some change in the system animations that's responsible, but that's the one flaw in the launcher fixed for me

Wasn't it 4.2+ where "Project Butter" really came in? This may have helped the rendering process in Apex...

Could be. It was talked about before 4.2, but as I was running Gingerbread back then I wasn't keeping detailed track of the changes

SO we don't blow this thread up with "i got it too" posts, just post here if any issues occur or to address any changes. any "i got mine too" posts may be removed just to keep the thread clean.

Any rooting questions please take those to the rooted section.

Congrats to all who are getting the update!

Default update

got my update 6pm yesterday in North East England, smaller update of the two sent my blinkfeed crazy, had to factory reset phone to stop it trying to synchronise constantly and draining the battery, phones just as fast as before, only problem with update is the developers option in settings isn't there anymore, other than that no problems.

That's a JB 4.2 feature, not HTC specific.

It does exist, but you need to use an Easter Egg to enable it (!!??). Go to Settings > About > Software Information > More, and tap repeatedly on "Build number". After a few taps it will start to give you a countdown, and if you keep on tapping you will be told "congratulations, you are now a developer" or words to that effect.

Once you've done that, the Developer options menu will be back.

No, I've really no idea who thought this was a good idea...

Coincidentally, I stumbled upon this on my HISENSE SERO 7 PRO tablet last night, w/o prior knowledge of this. I was wondering WTH that was all about.......

Got it yesterday, quick to install. Like the extra information given in the drop down menu, although annoying you have to go through an extra window to switch on the power saver

Swings and roundabouts. For those of us who don't change that setting, the advantage is that we no longer have that permanent(*) "power saver" notification cluttering the notification area. Guess it really is impossible to please everyone

Though HTC, if you are reading this: make that power switch panel customisable and maybe you will please everyone .

I find that I do use it, but have kept my previous notification power widget as well, since I can get to that quicker and it has options the HTC one doesn't have. Shame you can't make the power widget the default when you pull the notifications down (an old Desire ROM which had a similar panel, Redux 2, would show the toggles first if there were no non-permanent notifications present, which was quite a good solution).

(*) Yeah, I know there was a trick to get rid of it until the next reboot. Happy not to have to bother with that now.
