Default Alarm issue....

Hi. Ever since the upgrade, I no longer get a notification box of "how long" until my alarm goes off after setting it. Any way to get that back?

Funny, I still get it when setting an alarm on mine. I am running a custom 4.3/Sense 5.5 ROM, rather than stock, but something like this I'd expect to be a feature of the base rather than something the developer has added back.

I don't use the alarm on the phone, but if it's missing, send HTC a trouble ticket so they are aware...

Using a Sprint HTC One? That is odd. I use the alarms all the time, and I still get the little notification whenever I set an alarm, or modify an existing alarm.

Default After 4.3 update, Bluetooth Screen Keeps Popping Up!

Ok guys and gals....really need some help here. Been internet searching for a while now and not getting anywhere. So here is the issue I have been having: MANY times when I unlock the phone or even when I am using the phone, the bluetooth screen pops up which shows the devices that I am able to connect to. For instance, I am in my home, and I pick up the phone, flick my finger to unlock it, and there is the bluetooth screen. ALL the time! I have to dismiss that screen to get back home. The other day I was using the phone and on a call, and the bluetooth screen popped up.

What is going on? It wasn't do this before the 4.3 upgrade, and now it happens all the time.

Anyone else having this issue? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Haze

keeping post 4.3 update concerns listed here.

need more info.

are you rooted?

what carrier?

do you have a third party lock screen?

if you disable bluetooth, does this screen pop up still?

is it bluetooth devices or is it bluetooth tethering?

look in your bluetooth tab and what items do you have ticked?

does this happen anywhere or just at your home? or just at your job? or just in the car?

you have of course soft reset,, but did you also hold down the power button until the phone shut off on its own and restarts?

you are having difficulty not finding others on the internet with this issue because its possible its only local to your device...

Sprint
Unrooted
Devices
regular lock screen
doesn't happen when disabling bluetooth
happens everywhere
Reset does nothing

I guess nobody is having this problem.

THank you

Default no image share anymore?

I updated my android version this week

Before the update I was able to look through google images and when you pressed and held the image, there was an option to share

On the new version, it's not there

So now to share, you have to view the image, and copy the web address

Why remove something that's useful?

It's still there in the Google version of Gallery. Long press and the share icon appears.

I believe there's now an alternative to Gallery - the issue may be with that.

You should be able to scroll the list of items that pops up, even though it might not look like it. Unless you are trying to do it from a specific app maybe. Don't know. I know I have the option on my Sprint One with 4.3.

Hi, I'm on 4.3, and those are the options I've always had when long-pressing an image while browsing on the web, and as far as I remember it was the same with 4.2.

I've always had to download the image into gallery before I could share it.

Functionality is gone for the op. I've a one max latest update, stock, not rooted and I get the same behavior when using Chrome browser on google images. I too don't have the option to directly share. I do think this behavior has been around before the latest update.

Workaround is to download to gallery and share.

Edit : Firefox for android gives the ability to share directly from the image. Try it out.

I guess I never noticed it. I never use the stock browser, just Dolphin, which still has the share image option. No clue why they wouldn't have that option. You are right. Seems like a pretty poor design decision. Pretty much guarantees people aren't going to use the stock browser. Or at least for a good number of people. I just hope that same decision doesn't trickle down to other places. It just ends up making things way harder for users than it should be. That option is a major benefit. I can't fathom who thought it would be useful to remove it.

I wonder if it had anything to do with the various patent disputes going around. I know we lost some functionality for the handling of default actions because of those disputes with Apple a couple years back.

OK to wrap up, this thus far is normal with the latest updates. Workarounds are posted. File a complaint with Google and/or HTC if anyone wants their voice to be heard. Let's moveOn.org... :-)

Default USB Tethering after firmware update

Hi all, I have often used my phone with tethering to access the internet on my pc. I have always done this without any issues and it connects automatically. I did a system update in the phone the other day and now I can't get the tethering to work. I also have a new notification saying MTP is enabled so wondering if this had something to do with it. ???

Well, I eventually received my update yesterday. Android 4.3. HTC Sense 5.5. Software Version 3.63.61.1.

Things seem okay, except I prefer the earlier version of Blinkfeed, where I could include EVERYTHING that I wanted. Unless there's a setting that I'm missing.......

Then again, I'm a disabled caregiver and, my grandmother, who is 87 and has Alzheimer's Disease, kept me up ALL morning. Therefore, I'm exhausted, snappy, et cetera.

IOW, there used to be an overflow menu (I think that's what it's called) where one could actually tick the content one wanted.

Anyone seen where that is, if it's even there anymore?

NB I do love the default landscape view it has now and the "Read Later" feature

EDIT:

Hey all!

I have no idea how I managed to do the following (not the screenshot) or even what the hell it is. I'm assuming that it's new to 4.3, although I've not read about it, nor even seen a picture of it.

Would some kind soul please tell me what it's called, terminology wise, and how on earth I actually did it: -

Thanks.

MOD NOTE: The screen grab is a car mode. you can just exit out of the app and your phone will return to normal mode.

Hi, My HTC One has just been updated with 4.3 and Sense 5.5. One issue I have come across which concerns me is the ICE (In Case of Emergency) app which I had on my lock screen, which worked perfectly well prior to the update, is still visible on the lock screen page but now when swiped takes you to the Screen Lock security pattern. Not very helpful!
The only app on my lock screen which bypasses the Screen Lock security pattern security page is the camera widget!
Any ideas how to resolve this so the ICE app shows the emergency information without taking you via the Screen Lock security pattern page?

You do not have to update if you don't want to, but keep in mind only people with problems go online and post in forums for help and they are in the minority. For every 1 person who goes online with a problem there are likely 10 people who are perfectly happy with their device and have no problems at all, but you don't hear from them.

What issues are you talking about?

I found no massive issues at all really apart from the no lockscreeen option which I don't use anyway.

Apart from that it was a very good update.

those are YOUR issues and are not uniform for everyone who has updated.

i had no such issues and many others have not had any issues.

as has been talked about in the past, its RECOMMENDED to factory reset AFTER an update like this as things can get tangled up in the process of updating and could cause some gremlins to be birthed.

uninstalling/reinstalling the offending programs may yield some success but if not, a factory reset is almost guaranteed.

its up to each person if they choose to update or not, no one can make that decision for you. do anything with your device at your own risk.

Those of you that own a Verizon HTC One should start hitting the update button. It's finally here!

Mod note : let's keep the "I'm downloading it now" type of posts out of the thread. Thanks all.

Default Hate the new update! Now what?

Im not a programmer, so Im not going to dig into anything too technical. But I hate everything about the latest update! The graphics suck, nothing works the same. I. Hate. This. How can I roll back to what I had before I trusted this stupid update to be something good?

Since an update doesn't save what was, there's no "roll back". You'd have to find a ROM of the old version and flash it.

Did any of you notice a change in the sound of the speakers after the update? I regular use the speakers when I'm on conference calls because the audio sounds so great. After the update today, it sounds--for lack of a better term--like the speakers are out of phase. If you've ever heard a stereo system with one speaker accidentally wired with the polarity reversed, you know what I'm talking about. It went from being an amazing phone to a crappy phone, in a sense. I use this feature regularly and now it's unusable. I was on a call for four hours today and I had to use earphones the entire time because the speakers were too difficult to listen to.

From what I have read, the International version with 4.3 has Sense 5.5. Whereas American users with 4.3 still have Sense 5.0. Sense 5.5 will come with 4.4 for American users. Probably this applies to Canadian users too.

Cheers.

Default issues after updating to 4.3

Hey all, last night,p my son took a system update for his HTC One, running android 4.3. The new software version is 3.05.651.5. Ever since he did the update, he hasn't been able to make calls or send or recieve text messages. I've tried turning it off and on, I've tried updating PRL and profile and it says it cant perform the update. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

EDIT: Followup.

Just got back from Best Buy.... found out that the radios had randomly turn off. All is well now. Plus I got him the Note 2 while we were there....

Any other Verizon users get the update yet? Nothing here...

Default Can I rollback the 4.3 update?

I want to uninstall the 4.3 update on my htc one.I've been having bad battery issues lately and I've read a lot of people have after this update and I can't figure out how to downgrade software.I did a factory reset but it's still there.

as has been previously asked in this thread, once you install the OTA, you can not revert to older firmware. your only other option is to root and install a 3rd party rom.

your battery issues are discussed here:

Default video highlights after 4.3

After the 4.3 update my One started doubling or tripling still pictures throughout the whole highlight video. I thought it was a bug but I contacted HTC and they said that is the new way it is done. I think it looks stupid now. I like the old effects better. Anyone agree?

keeping issues related to 4.3 in this thread for now.

what carrier?

are you rooted?

Did you use this feature prior to the update?

are you referring to ZOE? or the other htc gimmick that sends a link to people when you want to share (HTC SHARE)?

IF ZOE, this is normal as it does take several stills, combines them with sound and narration.

OK, thanks for moving it to the right thread.

I am on Verizon, not rooted.

I am reffering to the Video Highlight feature when you view an album it automatically creates a thirty second video clip compiled from still pictures, Zoes, and videos in an album and adds music and transition effects.

Before the update it did not display stills twice or three times at once throughout the while clip. It only started after the update. I returned the device since I was in the return period and the new one behaved the same before and after the update.

more than likely the returned device has the 4.3 update already as well right?

if htc has said this is the "new way", there is not much we can do to fix that. if you sent in a trouble ticket about this, and if others report on it, htc may change it. i doubt, though, that many people use or care enough about this to complain.

I dont use the feature but i will attempt this on the one max and will report back.

Default Battery Charge Animation in 4.3

Since updating to Jelly Bean, I've noticed when I charge the phone and it's OFF, a nice animation appears with a battery and the % charged ... after a minute or so it's gone and doesn't come back. Any way to get it to stick around? TIA!
