Default screen waits 3 seconds and turns on without me pressing power help?

Hi, whwhenever I press the power button on my HTC one it waits 3 seconds then comes off idle and turns on again. There are no tasks running and no viruses, help?

Need more info

Are you rooted
What carrier
Was this a refurbished model or did you purchase brand new
Did you install or in install anything prior?
Have on a screen protector?
Using a case?
Have you factory reset?
can you receive calls?

Please answer all so people can try to help

Its second hand, I haven't factory reset it, this is the only thing wrong with it, I don't have a case but the power button has sunk in don't know if that's it I can receive calls, and what's rooted? Do you mean o2? Cos that's my SIM card but it was Vodafone before and so that's the start screen but I bought it unlocked

It's used which, to me, explains the issue.

More than likely the physical button and/or the circuit board underneath may be damaged, has dirt /debris or combination of both.

Factory reset should be performed. If issue still occurs, it's in need of repair / replacement.
