Default Some New Info for the CDMA Hopefulls to Stew Over

Guys, I was just doing my daily searches for Passion, Bravo, Incredible, etc... as I'm also one of the Verizon people waiting patiently still...

Some new info posted on HTCPedia Today. I don't know how reliable they are, or how reliable the guy is who wrote it, but hey we can hope...

What can we expect from HTC at CES 2010

Quote from the short posting:

"We can probably look forward to a launch of their alleged CDMA version of the Nexus One called HTC Passion."

No more guessing, hoping, speculating, or wishing. We'll have our answer (hopefully) in just two days.

Honestly that ruins it the whole reason I wanted the passion was because I thought it'd have sense.

I figured they probably weren't, but just wanted to put it out there as new info being tossed around...

Here's some more fuel....

HTC Bravo January release date rumours surface - Mobile Phone News | BANGBANGTECH - Mobile, Gaming and Gadget News & Reviews

Quote:

"It’s a bit of a surprise to hear that the Bravo might be arriving nearly 3 months before its predicted release date in April, but we’ve also heard that it may still be launching as the Passion in January in the US, which adds some weight to the suggestion that we’ll see it on our shelves before February."

You'll notice the two posts actually contradict each other since one is reffering to the Passion as the CDMA version of the Nexus One, while the other is reffering to the Passion as the CDMA version / US Version of the Bravo. We shall see, if they're both full of shit I wouldn't be surprised at all.

As I said, we can hope.

You can tell a bad story when they say things like "we've heard" and "it's been confirmed" without citing the actual source. They probably just read this very forum and then post a story when enough people have speculated about something. It's like a blog about forum rumors.

I wouldn't complain had I not seen this story posted here before.

I think CES will be a dissapointment too.

You're probably right. I hate to say that, but you probably are. With the lack of more official news like the Nexus One got into after a while, and no more leaked photos etc... it's all probably BS for now.

Not really. Think of how the Nexus One started out. Rumors of an industry changing phone using only VOIP and being called the fabled Google phone. heck the first picture of it was titled (if not the actual model) the HTC Dragon. No real pictures of it, nothing concrete.

I am still waiting till the end of january before I buy a new phone. I just have that feeling that there will be a better phone for Verizon built by HTC out by then either the Passion or Incredible. Look at how much evidence we had of the Eris before it was released. If i remember right it was just that one photo of it being held at a Verizon conference along with the Droid.

Yea, who knows... We can definitely be hopeful. I've gotten so used to waiting at this point that I barely care anymore. I'm used to having a shit phone. Been through an LG EnV (original) and now I've been sitting with a Treo 700w that's falling apart slowly. I've actually been waiting since back when the Storm 1 was still in development, because I really wanted that at the time, then when I found out it had the click screen I hated it. After that I went through a huge long phase waiting for the Omnia II, which I also slowly lost interest in because Verizon took it and made it ugly and also it took so damn long to come out that there were a million other newer / better prospects on the horizon (Enter the Droid Craze). My friend with T-Mobile has the G1, so that was my first time seeing Android, and it seemed nice, so once Verizon started pushing Android I decided to wait more. I was originally waiting on the Eris as I liked the looks of it, but then once all the Dragon / Passion hype started I felt like I might as well wait even more and see what happens. So here I am...

I still like the Eris after going in and messing with it at a store, but I don't HAVE TO have it. I felt like if I bought it, the Dragon / Passion for Verizon would come out right after and I'd be dissapointed. So I figured why not be patient longer, I've waited this long. Eventually I gotta pull the trigger on something though. My Treo is getting worse by the day, so I may switch back to the EnV if needed. At this point I really hope January / February holds a surprise with Verizon, but if not I may even wait till April. Frustrating, but I'm used to it.

I think the Eris (codename: Desire) was FCC approved at the end of September. Yeah, there were no pictures whatsoever, but at least we knew whatever it was, it was ready to go. We don't even have that yet. My hope is that the Passion has been or is being submitted to the FCC now. It takes a couple weeks for approval after submission (they could have sent it in mid-Dec and are just waiting on review and approval). Anyway, I figure if this is announced on the 5th or at CES, then perhaps a couple of weeks later it'll be made available for sale, by the end of January. I doubt it would steal the thunder of the Nexus One so I can see HTC showing it off late next week a few days after Google's big announcment. Fingers crossed.

HTC Passion

The HTC Passion is largely believed to have launched as the Nexus One. However, just as the HTC Dream launched after the T-Mobile G1 (both being identical phones), we're keeping the HTC Passion on the list as an additional phone/brand until the... Read More
