Default Vigor now FCC Approved; LTE Confirmed!

The Vigor just appeared on the FCC's Equipment Authorization web site. LTE is now confirmed. The direct URL won't copy correctly for some reason. Go to:

OET -- FCC ID Search

Grantee Code = NM8 (HTC's FCC ID)

Product Code = PH98100

October 5/6 release could very well happen...glad I passed on Bionic!

Still sifting through it myself. Nothing really crazy yet. So far, I don't see global support, but that's not a surprise since this has an LTE radio...

True about that. Hey I'm having problems opening .PDF files here, do you think you can shoot me a picture of the label location or if there are any photos of the device itself, those would be great, too.

So much for those couple posters saying this would be a 3G phone. Good news though; one step closer to seeing a release of this!

No doubt; No way VZW was going to replace 4G phone with a 3G Only phone...

I'm just curious about this HD 720p screen and the dual core processor. Oh and the battery... Wondering if HTC will still put a low end battery in a high end phone

Yes, looks like we're getting closer to seeing some specs come soon. Here is also article from Engadget.

In sifting through Page 5 of the HAC report, it looks like this phone will do simultaneous voice/data in 3G mode, not just LTE and WiFi. Can anyone who knows how to read these reports confirm?

The battery specs seem to be close and on par with the Bionics battery specs. Standard battery is slightly smaller, but ext. battery is about the same.

Good find. I was afraid we'd see ~1400 mAh.

See page 8 and 9 of the "SAR Report". You're looking for the ability to transmit CDMA Voice and (EV)DO Data simultaneously. Page 9 also specifically mentions SVDO and SVLTE scenarios. So, yes, the good news is this appears to confirm simultaneous voice/3g data.

The bad news is this was done in the Thunderbolt using a Snapdragon SOC (which includes the CDMA Voice modem), paired with a Qualcomm MDM9600 (which provides the 3G or LTE modem).. many have speculated this is one of the inefficiencies in the HTC platform that drains the battery so fast.

Also noted is the smaller-than-Bionic battery of 1620mAh.. Bionic is 1735mAh fwiw.

Edit: Checked FCC doc for Bionic. It does not support SVDO.. which confirms the teardown photos showing only the Qualcomm MDM6600 (CDMA/EVDO radio) plus the Motorola LTE modem. And yet it burns through 1735 mAh disturbingly fast. Times are tough on the LTE front for battery life.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. When I first heard about this phone I was hoping for the MDM9615 to help address that issue, but I guess it's not to be...

*EDIT: Don't forget though, the MSM8660 in the Vigor can asynchronously clock it's cores, which will likely lead to some efficiency improvements over the Bionic's OMAP. I'm curious how this will effect battery life in real world use...

Also worth mentioning is that a dual core Snapdragon would also imply the presence of the Adreno 220.. which is at least twice as fast as the Adreno 205 and SGX 540 (in the Bionic, etc)

If the specs posted in Vigor's Nenamark results a few months ago are accurate, the GPU will indeed be Adreno 220.

I can't remember where, but over the past 2 days (maybe Engadget or BGR), there was a review of the Bionic that included Nenamark scores for that device. The Vigor's score, as listed on Nenamark several months ago, was more than 10 points higher than that of the Bionic, and the Vigor is pushing an HD screen, versus the Bionic's qHD. That speaks volumes IMHO.

That's a real good point, there's no way an Adreno 205 or SGX540 would be able to push the 2.5x increase in screen pixels.

Thanks, been checking the web several times a day for a while looking for any info I can find on this thing. For me, this wait has been harder than for the Inc1- and the most frustrating part has been the lack of info! Hopefully, the flood gates will open, and this powerhouse will be in our hands within weeks!
