Coming from the Incredible, I'm jaded about updates.
I vote for an update not happnin'.
I agree. I loved my OG Incredible.... Until the gingerbread update. Had to factory reset my phone every three weeks after that, just to keep it functioning. I got my Rezound last month and deliberately unlocked and rooted this phone so I WON'T get the OTA Update. I love how stable this Rezound is, and am happy to wait until the bugs are worked out.
What, exactly, are the benefits of ICS over gingerbread, anyway. This is a serious question, not sarcasm. Maybe I'd get more excited about the update if I knew of some specific improvements.
Remember Rick.....Casablanca....waiting for his girl at the train station until finally losing hope? He didn't see her again till years later. ICS will kinda be like that. You can still wait at the train station today but it's a waste of time. :-)
I have been running ICS on my Touchpad. The main item is really the optimization for dual-core support. If you do not have a dual core device, ICS is nice, but not as huge for you.
I have personally liked the feel of ICS, the menus, and how everything is organized more than GB. The quick access to widgets is nice, and I LOVE the ability to make folders of apps by dropping them on each other & naming them whatever I want. Helps me organize the screen area with apps of similar types by the icon that I, personally, identify with it the most. Also, they have a recent app list that you can get to without a long hold on the home button.
And finally...the browser. I may actually drop my Opera for the ICS stock browser when I get it on my phone. Stock Froyo/GB browser required you to install a replacement. Dolphin was nice to start, but got annoying with some questionable actions in regards to security of data. So I have Opera now.
Not a huge list of items, but with Sense, I have lost some of my feeling for stock GB to compare since my OG Droid is currently my alarm clock and thus cannot point out specific differences.
^^Schimm r u saying v'r not getting any ??
I have my phone on the desktop charger already - we need full power for any of these major updates. Either they won't let us do it, or they'll let us do it but will quickly run the power down 25% to 75% while at it. Or we'll all have 100% battery today because there's no ICS ha ha

Hmm. I think the update was posted as April 6, 2013...
The current OS works great, a few bugs but nothing to throw the phone under the bus for, except the bloatware.
"To correct the latest round of conjecturatti and bogusazzi reports, we contacted Verizon Wirelesss spokesman Albert Aydin to find out if the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades for the HTC Rezound" ... "Aydin confirmed, "Verizon Wireless is not pushing out an update to the HTC Rezound, Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX or Droid 4, today or this weekend.""

In other words, God only knows when we shall receive 4.0

You know what would be nice? If the delay was due to Sense 4.0 coming out and being integrated into the build. I know that many of you don't like Sense, but it sounds like a better match for ICS than 3.6. Personally, I think it would be a worth-while wait.
I remember waiting around for 2.1 on my Eris. By the time it came out, the phone was pretty much obsolete. Now that I have a decent phone, the current features are "good enough" for now. I haven't even rooted this thing yet. So yeah, I for one can wait for the most current software from both Android and HTC.

We just retired the last of our Eris phones. My wife moved a tiny step up to the Fascinate, and I bought the rezound. I had moved on from the Eris long ago and gave it to my daughter. My journey from the Eris took me to the Incredible, and then to the DX2 (which I was never satisfied with, hence my return to HTC). I passed the DX2 to my daughter who is just happy that it doesn't take a minute to read a text.

Yeah, I remember that...and it was pretty annoying. 2.2 was around the corner, and had the Apps2SD feature that phones like the Eris really needed (and never received). Once I learned about that, I got a Droid X and my wife got a Droid 2. I just bought the Rezound a week ago and like it enough to wait for the official ICS update.
Ok....first off don't shoot the messenger here...lol. I called Verizon just now & talked to a service rep. I'm going out of town in 2 weeks & figured I'd see if I could find out about the update knowing it'd prob be a waste of my time calling. To my surprise after checking 2 computer systems the very nice Verizon service rep told me there is an Android operating system update scheduled for April 12th for the HTC Trophy & the HTC REZOUND. Again please don't shoot the messenger....but if she is correct we'll all be enjoying a nice slice of ICS this weekend.

Thanks fyr, I'm "hoping" that's accurate! But as Hank Hills wife Peggy once said..... "You can hope in one hand, and poop in the other, and see which one gets full first." Lol.....here's hoping it's the "hope hand". Lol

Hmm...hope it's true but the fact that this rep said the HTC Trophy, a WP7 device, would be getting an Android update leads me to believe that she has no idea what she is talking about.

She actually said operating system update....so not sure if she meant the Trophy is getting a WP7 update & we're getting ICS, she was confused/messed up or was just feeding me a line of BS.....LOL.

I hope this is true! I actually haven't even received my Rezound yet. I was waiting for the Incredible 3/4g but couldn't pass up on this great deal for the Rezound. I figured with the ICS update it'd be a superior product over the INC 4G based off the "leaked" specs.
You will know when an update is coming when VZW updates the Rezound Support page PDF file reflecting the update. They release these typically a few days prior to releasing an OTA update. I know, for the better part of 3 years I have been screen scraping the VZW support pages, and the one thing I always notice is that when you see a new PDF on that page, give it 3 days. Until then, if someone says it is coming in the next day or 2, it isn't true.

Very true. No update to the PDF out there yet, and today's the 12th with no ICS for my wife's Rezound. She's really liking the stock Gingerbread on there now, so she won't let me put the leak on it. She's far more patient than I am I guess.
Sometimes it pays to be patient. I'm just a stock person and don't want the hassle. Plus, I'm not that lucky. I tell myself that the official OTA has been checked enough to be as clear of bugs and as trouble free as possible. I've been following most of the leak threads and some people do fine and some don't, but actually, the same can be said of most of the official OTA's that have been pushed to us.
My Rezound is working so good now, I'm hoping the ICS upgrade doesn't break something.

I've been running the leak and it's extremely polished.
I'm running Clean Rom with the leak. It's great, except for battery life, which is abysmal. I'm hoping that when ICS is released officially for this device that they have tweaked the kernel so both cores aren't blazing at full strength the entire time the phone is on.

This is the reason I will wait a few weeks to decide if I will update. The Rezound's battery has been great for me. I definitely don't want that ruined by the update.

I'm running the leak and my battery life doubled! No Verizon location agent!
lol me too I gave up waiting. I put on the leaked ICS, then I unlocked my phone, and then I put on Nils ICS ROM. I rooted it and Im happy about it. It wasn't to bad. Pretty easy. Not as easy as my droid inc tho but still wasn't bad.

I tried running the Nils Rom this weekend. The phone didn't recognize my SD card. That's the second time this has happened. Says it's not mounted. Is there a fix for this that I can't find?????
I'm not sure. I'm using Nills ICS Sense 3.4. It requires you to relock your phone and put on the latest RUU. Then you gotta follow the unlock procedure put on the recovery. Then I did factory resets, wiped cache and davlik and installed the ROM. No issues here so far.

Coming from an OG Droid and then a DX, the phone hackery on this device is significantly different than it was on those phones. I might be running old firmware on my phone after all, even though it's registering as the new firmware. I attempted a patch to the old firmware when running Clean Rom but I thought I didn't execute it correctly. Maybe I did after all. I have to look into this.
