I posted this on XDA right now because I just ran into this error, but here's my entire post, with the fix included, for anyone who when they just reset their phone, it began to bootloop (or load up to sense for 1 second, then reset itself every single time with the battery cover on):

i had no problems. NONE.

i decided to do a fresh restart of my phone so i poewred it down, and did a battery pull after the phone was completely off. turned it back on, gets to lock screen, i unlock......sits..loading...screen goes black, and whattya know, white HTC splash screen. a few times. it's *** **** bootlooping FOR NO REASON. this is just absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

i think it lasted longer without the cover on the back, meaning theres something up with the network....i remember reading about this, it bootlooped with the back cover ON...anyone remember hearing that too?

EDIT* this WORKED! anyone who has this issue please do the following: (source http://www.droidforums.net/forum/htc...boot-loop.html)

STEP 1: TAKE BACK COVER OFF. it will load into sense and not reboot now.

*#*#4636#*#* Under phone info you will find that the network is factory set to WCDMA Preferred... I guess the SIM card decides sometime along the way that it doesn't like that much... Setting the network to CDMA EVDO/LTE - Auto completely corrects the problem

another poster said that after you do this, hit home, power down the phone, pull sim card out, put it back in, then reset it. i didn't do this; i just went back, put the battery cover on, it froze like usual, reset itself, and now it's working perfectly. holy hell this g*d d*mn phone just gave me a heart attack!

for some reason, this is what happens: under phone info, as it says, it will reset to WCDMA Preferred for NO reason whatsoever! this must have happened when i shut my phone down; other people are reporting that doing "reboot" does this frequently for them! this is the first time in my month of ownership i saw this happen, so this was new to me...but thankfully, we have a fix!
Thank you so much for this!!!

My phone died last night, went to turn it on today, and it went into this endless bootup loop. I had never seen this before, so needless to say, I was freaking out.

I followed these steps and it worked perfectly...in fact, even better than before! The phone boots up much faster than it ever did before!

I have had my Rezound for a little over a month without having the issue of bootlooping, until last night. The solution given worked to a tee. Thanks.

This worked perfectly for my wife's Rezound! Thanks!

Now, how does she prevent this from happening again?

Got my Rezound on December 29th, never had an issue. Woke up yesterday to the bootloop. Only thing I had done differently was turning the phone completely off before connecting the charger and going to bed. Turned it on while still plugged in and got the loop. Since I noticed the phone worked fine without the SIM card, I took it to a Verizon corporate store, stumped them and they simply replaced the SIM card and OF COURSE factory reset. Bastards. Works fine now. Oddly, after they tried to sell me the half-price extended battery, the manager and associate seemed amazed when I told them that my battery lasted me all day with moderate use, CDMA only. Thanks OP for the info...

had mine since black friday w/ no issues. this morning wake up, realize the phone died during the night, plugged it in, turned it on, and bam. bootloop.
i'm wondering if restarting it yesterday twice had something to do with it....

the extended battery sale... cor store or auth retailer? where are you located? i may need to go to the vzw store today...

edit- did the suggested fix, took out batt/sim/sd card, put batt and back cover on and did fix, and noticed in the options for network mine was set to WCDMA, and had the dozen or so options including GSM, Global and etc. set to lte/cdma/edvo and it worked, also booted a hell of a lot faster

Has there been an upgrade that may have fixed this issue?

I'll be getting my Rezound in a few days, would it be best to go into this network menu and set it to "lte/cdma/edvo" right from the start as soon as I get it?

Just happened to my phone again. Stock phone with no issues other than this. I might stop in at the Verizon Store and see if they might replace the card.

I seem to get the bootloop 2x a month - near the first of the month, and near the middle (or maybe it's near everytime they have network issues). I'm still wondering what is causing this, it's like they do a network reset and boot my damn phone off. Really annoying that every morning I have to watch it boot to make sure it doesn't reboot continuously and eat my battery before I even get to work.

It's not resulting from a battery drain that shuts the phone off. Not related to changing settings - I just turn it off at night, and it loops in the am. I don't get it.

So is Verizon working on a fix for this? I have had mine set to CDMA only for the past two days, and it happened to me this morning. My area does not have 4G yet, so i see no need to have it on, yet.

You people are truly brilliant! I had the bootloop issue and this worked great for me.

Note: it's *#*#4636#*#*. The * must be first or you won't be able to access that menu.

I had a moment of panic when I turned the phone back on after performing those steps, but there was no signal and it said that I needed a SIM card. Turns out I had my SIM card in backwards! Doh!

My sister just called me and when she explained what was happening to her Rezound I found this sticky. I walked her thru the fix and she's up and running again. Thanks!

I had a problem with my GPS not working last week. I attempted to fix this by uninstalled a cached area in G Maps, then I uninstalled all updates to G Maps. Bootloop ensued.

It would happen so quick that I could not get into the dialer to do the fix before it would reboot. So despite not having done a back up recently, I had to do a factory reset from HBoot. Never again, so I finally rooted last night.

Sooooo my phone started doing this again and it won't stay on the dialer long enough for me to put in the code and reboots itself before I can complete it. This fix worked for me when it happened the first time, now what the hell is going on? My battery completely died before this happened and I have it on the charger trying to do this. It's been on the charger long enough to probably have a 30% charge at least.

I'm having this same issue - the phone isn't staying up long enough to type it in... even when I can, I get interrupted by the GPS pop-up about sending my location info, then boom, reboot. Or, I type it in, and nothing happens...?

I'm assuming it makes a difference if you have a signal - would this fix be generally recommended to be done in an area where you have none (say, a subway, for example)?

couldn't hurt to try. Or even call VZW and have them disconnect it. Even with cover off it reboots that quick? No chance to get it in airplane mode? (pull down notification window and go to quick settings?)

Hmm... that worked - I was able to get it into airplane mode - but it immediately rebooted right after. UGH, this is super annoying! If I can figure something out, I'll post it.

So with airplane mode on now (setting should carry over after each reboot) and the cover off you are still having no luck???

Sounds like VZW needs to replace yours. It shouldn't be that bad.

But yea, let us know how it turns out

Yep - I can type in the *#*# code at least twice, now, before it reboots - but the phone info menu never comes up. I'd try the factory reset, but I'm afraid of what I'm going to lose. I'm even an IT guy - this is a first for me!

Question - the instructions from Verizon on how to boot the phone in safe mode are the same as what others in this thread have suggested for a system reset - if I follow these, to try the safe mode first, am I ok?

hmm, that is weird. *#*#4636#*#* should get you into that menu no matter what

Factory reset should give you options to keep certain data. Obviously back your SD card up first though. If you plug into PC as 'disk drive' with the cover off and on airplane mode does it still reboot?

Yea safe mode is the same as the hboot menu. You have a couple options in there. Play around with it, it will ask 'are you sure' if you accidentally try to erase stuff

edit: i was wrong. safe mode is same as PC safe mode (kinda)

See if that helps, at the very least you may be able to back your pics/data up before a reset

So my phone apparently didn't have a "safe mode" option - not sure what that's all about, but it isn't available on a reboot with the volume down pressed.

I was on the phone with Verizon for over 3 hours last night. Of course their very first suggestion, not 2 minutes into the conversation, was a factory reset. I have this feeling that they knew of the issue (particularly when I told them to google it!) but didn't even want to bother either a) acknowledging it, or b) troubleshooting. Anyway, the *#*#... fix never gave me enough time to do anything (and only once out of maybe every 10 tries did it ever even bring up the phone options utility), and without the safe mode option, and after speaking with 3 different technical support guys, I eventually caved and agreed on the factory reset, which did solve the issue.

For the most part, my phone is back to normal (I did have most of everything backed up, that google didn't themselves), but technically I don't know what actually happened.

IF it's a result of it switching to the other mobile network protocol, I would highly recommend everyone install the LTE switch application, and put a shortcut on the main screen, or one right next to it, so you can get at it in the 10-15 seconds that you'll have before the phone reboots again.

Craziness...

Hi, here's my story: Rezound owner for a month. Woke up to "bootlooping". Thanks for putting a name to it... because the Verizon techs sure couldn't! They had NO IDEA what the heck was going on and assured me that the good news was they've never heard of this happening before - and ordered me up a new phone.

Now home, I found your forum and this fix worked. So I called those clever Verizon techs and we talked about it. They mentioned that with this fix, my phone is no longer in a 4G mode, but now in 3G. Not being a super high tech gal, I hoping yall can confirm, clarify, wax on this notion... because operating in 3G mode on a phone meant for 4G just won't do. (HTC Rezound)

thanks again for doing what verizon could not do! peace.

What's the deal with this phone!? I'm on my second one now. First one kept restarting and "overheating" so they sent me a new one. Now all the sudden this one is turning off by itself. It's not turning back on like the last one was it just stays off. Sometimes it doesn't like to turn back on it will freeze at some point and I have to pull the battery and try again. I tried the *#*# code and it won't give me any option screens. I just hear a tone on the other end of the phone and that's it. I'm not sure what to do now. :-(

Thank God for this forum & thread. Phone started boot looping tonight at the hockey game after I changed batteries. Freaked out a bit but remembered seeing this thread awhile back. When I got home I followed the directions & sure enough I was in that weird mode. Followed the directions & we appear to back up & running. Phew!
Now to back up all the stuff I should have long ago.
Thanks again for this wonderful resource.
