Ok, so I bought my rezound 2 days ago, coming from an OG Droid. I played with the phone some when I brought it home, and it made me do the OTA update. Ok great, whatever.
Well since then my battery life has been less than subpar, I mean it is OK, but certainly not great. I am getting around 12-14 hours with moderate usage. Some texting, web browsing, - maybe 2.5 hours of total screen time being on.
I noticed something interesting under the battery graph chart. Basically, my phone NEVER sleeps. It is always awake. The little blue bar that shows you your awake time is solid blue. Upon alittle messing around, I realized that is because of this stupid Verizon Location Agent. Basically, bloatware than you can't install. WTF. Tried many things, I read someone said to update the app in the market, and since it won't be compatible, than it won't run anymore. Well I did that, and it's still there. I truley think that my phones being awake all the time is hindering the battery performance and it seems there is nothing I can do about it. Is there anything I can about this? At least tell me that I am not alone here. I mean does everyone else that got the last OTA update with Verizon Location Agent have the same issue? I do not want to root, don't feel I should have to, just to get my phone to work properly. Is my device defective, or are other's experiencing something similiar?
THANK YOU in advance! Any imput is greatly appreciated.
Yes I have rebooted, and I already have the Use vzw location service unchecked. In fact, I even just did a factory reset. All I did was set up my google account to get my contacts back. Well the verizon location agent is already there and running. WTF! This thing prevents your phone from ever going to sleep, therefore eating battery!
Wife's phone had the same problem even after running the RUU on it. She didn't want me to root b/c of the inferior root method that doesn't allow the covering of tracks. Sadly, I am now done with HTC. I loved my Inc but it was my last HTC device. Probably not a popular opinion in this forum but I'm just being honest.
Update: As said before, I did the factory reset, and the verizon locator agent is still in the apps running folder, HOWEVER, my phone seems to be going to sleep for the most part when the screen is off.
This leads me to believe maybe it was an app that I downloaded caused this problem before? I just had the normal apps - facebook, handsent, pandora, ect.....so I have no idea. I am going to install one thing at a time and monitor the phone after for like a day each time so I can tell what causes this cluster F.

In addition to unchecking the VZW location services, I use a power management program (Juice Defender, in my case) that helps out allot. If you're willing to shell out for the Ultimate version, you can change settings by application as to how often they connect and update.
There are other programs out there that do the same things and, in general, I've found that after-market program like JD the best way for me to manage my power consumption. 4G phones are power hogs in general and compared to your OG Droid. IMO there's no way you can do as good with your battery without one these days.

I know what app that is causing it not be able to sleep: Verizon Location Agent. I just have to figure out if another app triggers Verizon Location Agent to not let your phone sleep, if that makes any sense.
sorry bud, just root it. you CAN'T get rid of it. that's verizons bullshit that we can't help and can't delete unless you're rooted. that's what pushed me to root mine, and ever since, i'm running roms that don't have it.
Yeah, that is indeed strange. I have VLA in there in the background but is using less than 1% of the battery (negligible in my case now). But i remember it came on right after the update using 3% to 6% of the battery (right after the update). Then a few days later it went away (now in the background only; less than 1% battery usage). Bye.
