Question Very Strange Issue here

Well this is a weird one. When waking my phone up today to check the time, I noticed it said 2:51. I thought wow that seems early. Checked my computer, it was indeed 3:38. WTF? So I turn the screen off, and back on, and now the big clock on the screen (before you unlock it) says 3:08, but the little one in the notification bar says 2:51. Turn it off and back on again, and now it is 3:38 and 2:51. I unlock it and the notification bar still said 2:51. I play with the phone for awhile and it finally catches up and displays the right time, maybe 3:42 by now. Anyone ever heard of this? It's not like it's in the wrong time zone or something because it was off under an hour, and the fact that the two clocks didn't match was odd. Any imput is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you have your clock set to update off the network, or outside of it?

Also, is it possible that you have an app such as juice defender shutting off your data connection while your screen is off, which could possibly block the network from updating it?

I would start simple. Change it to update with the network, and check and uncheck that box. Go ahead and then pull your battery and wait a few minutes and put it back and and boot up the phone. See if the clock has the correct time then.

Otherwise if it does it again, I would say go to Verizon, but they will just want to factory reset your phone if they can't fix it, and you can do that yourself as a last resort.
If your best choices brought you to where you are and you don't like that place , then remember it won't be the same type of choices that will get you out.
