This may be old news but in case it may help some others here goes.
Since the ICS update my battery life was terrible and I was having some weird quirks. I tried everything with just minor success. I also noticed that my auto backup was not working properly.
I decided to check and clean up some files when I went to All Apps I noticed that I had 2 copies of several Verizon installed apps on my phone such things like Backup Assistant, Sync Service, Settings, etc. I thought what the hell? So I disabled all duplicated copies, did a restart and waited. Everything started normally. It was late so I shut it down put it on charge then went to bed.
Next morning went to work and forgot about it. By evening I still had 45% battery remaining. As test this weekend I charged it and did not us it much just a few calls (maybe 40 min total), mail downloads, some internet downloads, and listening to music (about an hour). It lasted 47 hours plus with 34% remaining. Also most of the quirks went away.
For those having battery issues especially stand-by issues check if you also have duplicate apps installed and disable them. It may help.
