gidget

anyone else having problems with the phone app? half the time i dial a number, then the screen display shuts off, and i have to turn it back on if i want to use the dialer on the call, but it keeps shutting off after like two seconds. i can't get it to stay on. and it's not the automatic display off that is supposed to happen when the phone is next to the ear. that doesn't work at all! either the call screen stays on or it almost instantly turns the screen off as i described. this is a replacement phone, i am thinking it's bad? ugh.

My only guess would be a dirty proximity sensor which you have ruled out gidget. I've had my screen go blank while on a call.. as it should but not wake up after I've removed the phone from my ear. A bit of cleaning fixed that. I'm sorry I don't have something clever to suggest.
