Default where is default storage- sensation xe

hi guys, probably should have introduced first but im going to jump right in. i hope this is the correct place to post.

as the title says, what or where is the default storage for media on the htc sensation xe? do pictures and vids go straight to sd or do i move them manually, if i have to, how do i do it.....even better is there a setting so it will do it automatically?

another question is what is with all the talk of rooting. is it necessary or can i continue to use app2sd? what are the benefits of rooting?

thanks for any help and sorry if these questions have already been asked and answered, i did search but there is so much. Also searched the net but cant find the answer

Andy

Hello Andy, pictures and videos go straight to the SD card on your device automatically.
Rooting is basically hacking your device and when rooted you can do so much more things with it as force apps to the SD card, install custom ROMS that give your device a new look, feel, and flavor and more. You've come to the right place for all things android my friend.

Thumbs down

great, thats good to know. thanks for the reply. ill probably think about rooting after iv got used to or bored with it. its only two days old so dont want to be hacking just yet. which brings me to ask is it totally safe or is there a risk of blocking or breaking or something bad?

have to say im loving the xe....strange how i could not find one in the whole of coventry and got the last one n birmingham, not even orange had any. is it an old phone, really popular or really bad?
i had a desire before this and loved it, only two months in to a 2 year contract and left it in the back of a taxi

Rooting has it's risks like bricking (Breaking) your device causing it to no longer work giving it the functionality of a brick. You also run the risks of bootloops where the phone will continue to boot and reboot. You can also delete any and all apps on your device which is both good and bad as you can delete important apps that you need and if you're not careful you can mess something up. Rooting also voids your warranty too which is why it's good to really do your homework and really think if you want to go through with it and if you're going to use those root benefits or not.
I'm afraid I don't have much knowledge of the XE truth be told.

thanks for the replies mr prime. sorry if im being annoying but im gona ask another question.

im trying to create sub folder/s in the "all pictures" section of the gallery. i have Astro file manager which is a cool app, i go into "DCIM" then "100MEDIA" in Astro which is where all pictures are stored on SD
i create a folder there and move pics into it but when i access them through the gallery again they are just there on display in "all pictures" again as if i have not created a folder.
Is this because the "all pictures" screen is installed on the phone and the folder i have created is on the SD card?

hope this makes sense and i take on board you dont really know XE metroid prime but if anyone else could help the question is there....thanks!
