I want to do this as I don't have enough space to put all my music on the phone. Also, is there a way to place iTunes purchases on the device without using HTC Sync? It has recently started duplicating files on my phone so I am now using the phone as a Disc Drive instead.

Welcome to Android Forums PurpK. Your phone will have a dedicated storage area that you can't access without rooting your phone. It is set aside for the phone and it's operating system files etc. It will also have a storage space which you can access and store music, pictures, and the like. You can also add a SD card to store files of your choosing. Those are your storage options. I hope this helps.
