Hello everyone,

I woke up today and saw just a few white dots under the glass of my sensation. They are at the top, on the right of the htc logo. They do bother me but i am not sure it worths the trouble to have it repaired. I have my phone since october. I just hope it doesn't get any worse!

Angry

Hi Everyone

Someone else to add another tale of woe.

I thought it was my eyesight and then something wrong with the screen, I take this is classic dust plume?

I've had my phone since July 2011. Do I contact Orange UK (my carrier) or go direct to HTC? What do you guys recommend (sorry about crappy second picture!)?

Thanks

Des

Classic!

I'd go to Orange first and see what they say. They may well offer you an exchange (and that's what you should demand). If they insist on a repair you may aswell go through HTC direct. I had a good experience with them and if you repair through Orange that will only double the length of the process.

Default Digitizer isn't bonded

Hey guys, I have an s2. I wanted the sensation but I work in a textile factory that has a lot of dust. Anyway the only phone I had that didn't get it was the iphone 4 and after looking up why it seems that apple bond the Digitizer to the glass so there is no air gap or very little. Samsung also do this with the s2, thus the reason I bought this.

Had the phone 6 months and not a spec. Its a more expensive way of making the phones I believe but gives a superior display and sorts the dust problem.

I wouldn't expect phones repaired to fair any better than the originals.

I just got my Sensation 1 month ago. I would have thought that HTC has fixed the manufacturing for the newer batches but apparently not! Although its not much, I have a few specs of dust under my screen as well! They are not very noticeable which is why the Vodafone repair center kept refusing to replace my phone...so my only option is to wait for more dust particles to creep in

Well update on my saga!

Rang Orange, they didn't want to know. The call agent kept saying he had never heard of it and as far as he was concerned that was cosmetic only and not a fault. Then dealt me a whammy to say as I've had my phone for 8 months, they only give a warranty for 6 months anyway! It's the first I've heard of this.

All they could say was ring HTC. I was fair fuming but rang HTC, they were very nice about it, explained it sounded like a seal problem to them and it's being collected for repair on Monday. If that solves my problem then great.

Really unhappy with Orange though. I'm going to check through my paperwork from when I got the phone and maybe making a complaint.

HTC first class though (well so far!)

I have owned my Sensation from new since December and it has a lot of dust under the screen, mainly on both side but also all over the screen.

Its only when the screen is dark this is noticable but im not happy with it.

I will ring HTC but I want a replacment phone as i cannot be without a phone for 4/5 days whilst it is being repaired, due to running my own business.

Looks like I'm another to join the ranks of the dusty screens

I've had my Sensation (on Orange) since October and dust has started to appear under the screen in the past week or so. I'll pop into the local store where I got the phone from on Tuesday to see what they say - if they don't exchange it I'll contact HTC direct to see what they can do.

I'll keep you all posted!

I rang HTC and explained about the dust (which is all over the screen). As soon as I mentioned dust under the screen, they checked it was under warranty and offered to get it fixed.

Only thing that's a problem, I have to send the phone off for a week and I need the phone for work.

Good service so far from HTC though

Well I finally got round to calling Orange yesterday and to be fair to them they arranged for a replacement handset to be couriered out to me which arrived at 9am this morning.

Unfortunately, 6 hours later the replacement handset has signs of dust creeping in from the exact same places again. I think another call to Orange will be happening (which to be fair is not their fault). I am quite disappointed by this obvious design/manufacturing fault by HTC though.

The wifes has signs of dust coming in from the top about halfway along from the HTC logo. We'll have to see what T-Mobile say if she contacts them about it.

Did you have any problems getting Orange to replace the handset?

Not really. They are obviously using a "foreign" call centre these days which made communication a little more difficult, especially when trying to describe the fault was in detail, and the chap that I spoke to was totally unaware that this was an issue with the handsets, and initially seemed adamant that it couldn't be a fault, but after I insisted that it was and I hadn't dropped it etc etc, he sorted out the courier for the following day. We'll see what they are like when I call them again tomorrow.

Latest update: I called Orange again yesterday to report the fault on the new handset and they delivered the second replacement handset just over an hour ago.

Lets see how long this one lasts! (It is a pain having to set everything back up again on a new handset - although the service from Orange has been first rate so far).

Sorry for digging up an old thread...

I purchased my phone with Vodafone in The Netherlands and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? I wasn't sure if anyone has been able to swap out phones? I would certainly accept the One X

I just wanted to know if anyone has had any luck or if I should just deal with HTC?

Yeah they're pretty good (in the UK at least). I noticed a small bit of dust the other week. Really hard to see unless in bright light with a dark screen, so not in a hurry to send it back and be without it for a week.

If it gets worse though, I will be on it like a shot.

Exactly the same here Rusty. Been dust free with my latest phone since the turn of 2012. Just noticed a plume from the top this week but not enough to make send it back (again).

this time i have chosen to send to htc ( who have recently expertly sorted one of my other problems for me android music sorting alpha.

oct 11 - reported dust under screen to htc
oct 11 - HTC asked for photo of dust ( i sent them two pictures )
oct 11 - they send me label and ask me to book a collection time - i choose monday 17th oct
oct 17 - phone collected by UPS
oct 18 - phone due to be delivered today but UPS have processed it incorrectly and it is in the wrong location
oct19 - phone out to delivery to the repair cener.
*update*
oct 19 phone delivered to htc - but not acknowlaged by them yet ( HTC send you updates through a tracking page )
*update 2*
oct 19 - according to htc tracking the phone is been repaired
*update 3* - according to tracking the phone is been shipped back ( no tracking number though as yet.
*update 3* - Oct 21 got my phone Back today in a nice white box , they have replace the screen, speaker, chassis and sub assembly, .

I'm very happy with the whole turn of events , this is the second time I have delt with the HTC customer service and repair ,and the speed with which they delt with it has been great

Once again , thumbs up HTC...Thumbs up .

So I cannot vouch for how any one else will fair but its been a painless time for me.

i have the same, but only on the left side... i contacted htc costumers service to tell them to send me an email which contains the obligation to change the assembly because i'm from romania and the service is like in romania... they sell the components.... so i need an email to force the service to change the assembly, not to clean it...
do you think i have a chance from them to force the service to change the assembly?

So was hoping that with getting the Senstation as a replacement that
I would no longer experience any sort of problem.

wow just like mine... i hope they can come up with a solution so we can clean it manually

The last resort was giving me a White Sensation from a completely different batch, this lasted about 3 days and then I noticed more dust. Quite upset and annoyed I went back and reluctantly changed it to a Samsung Galaxy S2, which I am enjoying and so far after a week the screen is still pristine. I'd get rid of it and ask for a completely different phone if I were you, sounds like the majority of Sensations are f***ed. Sorry to be blunt! But that's my experience.
I bought an HCT sensation in Vatan Computer in TURKEY and after use of 10 days, much dust started under touch screen display, and I gave service that is Teleservice (very bad service, do not buy anything warrantied by TELESERVICES) in TURKEY, also I desired them to get money back, because this is my right, laws give this right to me in TURKEY, so they do not want to give my money back and they gave me HTC sensation XE with respect to their saying, that is pleasing for customer, and also I didnt admit then I resent smartphone which was given to me (HTC sensation XE) but I must say that The phone given is not in original box and accessories, with old things was given only thing changed is the phone however you cannot understand whether the phone is original, not cloned or any changing parts such as screen, cover, battery etc. , there is no any sign about this phone is original, and the service defines in report that the cover is changed and battery also is changed, so how can I know this phone is original and why not this phone is given original box as you know Sensation XE has beats audio headphone, this application is not applicable, who can admit like this behaviour ? last thing is that Sensation Xe also has some dust and boiling when running.Huh? neither VATAN Computer and TELESERVICE are not interested with this issue. they do not want to look and interest with this problem. my advise is not to buy any HTC and also from VATAN Computer with warranty by TELESERVICE.
