Since the HTC Tattoo doesn't support all the applications that are made for Android, I was thinking we could make a list, showing wich apps are working, and who isn't.
So if you download a program, can you be so nice to share your experiences in this thread? I will update this post after people (and myself) tests programs.

Reason: Updating
Thanks! Updated the post now.
I just got the Tattoo, so I haven't gotten around to test so much yet, but I'm off "duty" tomorrow, so I will download lots of apps then.

Barcode Scanner seems to run, although the camera on the Tattoo cannot focus close enough to make it work.
Information for those who have the Tattoo from Orange:
Orange have inexplicably removed the GMail, GoogleTalk and YouTube applications. They've also put on a couple of game demos and their own links/apps, none of which can be removed since they've been installed to the system. It is possible to pull the GoogleTalk and YouTube packages out of a standard HTC dream image (HTC - Developer Center), install them via adb and they seem to work perfectly well. The GMail app, however, does not - I can install it but when it runs (or synchronisation is attempted) the program falls over. Doing a bit of digging by watching the logs as it happens I determined that Orange have also disabled the GMail permissions somewhere deeps inside the unit (probably in database that cannot be modified without root access). If anyone has official Tattoo package files for the GMail application I would appreciate a look to see if they work instead. It is very annoying that Orange have disabled some of the core functionality of the phone!
Out of curiosity, where did you find the Sky Maps package? I've searched in Market and SlideMe but can't find it!
Thanks for sharing this, I've been wondering why so many people are asking about wich Youtube-app they should use, but now I understand.
I had to download it from a Torrentpage, I don't know if I can link it here, since the torrent also includes lots of pirate-copies. I will upload the .APK to a server and give you the link to that.
I uploaded it to Megaupload, http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J1ENYNAV
If you can't download from Megaupload, please tell me a different site I can use.

I have actually found that YouTube works in the browser using the HTC flash player automatically, however it results in very jerky video. Much better to use the proper application instead!
Thank you for Sky Maps, just tested it out and it works nicely! I like how it makes use of the internal compass and sensors to match where you are looking
Appmanager

On another forum somebody posted a comment they received from Orange saying that they had not disabled GMail functionality and that users could install the app themselves and it should work. This is contrary to what I have found so far, however the GMail apk I used was taken from the Dream 1.6 image from HTC, so perhaps there were changes that mean it will not work on the Tattoo.
To further my research would it be possible for somebody with an unmodified Tattoo to copy the GMail packages from the /system/app folder and send them to me please?

There seem to be a lot more applications available in Market today than there were last week, maybe a lot more have been marked as compatible over the weekend?
Thank you very much. I installed the Gmail package and unfortunately it still does not work, however, the error message I get when debugging is very different and the package is quite different from the Dream one I was using.
I think the error message is now something to do with missing another related package, possibly the GmailProvider apk file. Can I be really cheeky and ask you to upload that one too, possibly include any others that you think might be related and perhaps also the GoogleTalk and YouTube ones too, since they are likely to be slightly different from those in the HTC Dream image.
Many thanks,
Dan
UPDATE: Ignore that request, I've managed to pull all the packages from an actual tattoo image!

Hi guys, I just got my Tattoo on Monday and have been a little disappointed with the apps available for its low resolution. But I love the phone and am happy to say that Last.FM is now available through the Android Marketplace. It works quite well too.
How do you get eBuddy or Skype Lite? Do I go to slideme.org on my phone or though my computer?
I've also found that nimbuzz (similar to ebuddy) is available on m.getjar.com
It includes skype contacts but you are unable to make skype calls, only chats.
We just posted an update of Executive Assistant (Appventive) that supports the Tattoo. Our other apps will become available for the Tattoo over the next few days.
Just search for Appventive in the Market or scan the qr code in my profile.
I'd love to hear from anyone who tries it out on the Tattoo (or in general).
I'd just like to thank everyone for making this list, and tell you about another app.
If you go to qik.com you're presented with an option to download their program and install it right away , it works like a charm although the video can be a bit choppy at times, I've only tried it on the wifi network yet as I'm waiting to get a data plan.
If you don't know what Qik is , it's just like ustream.tv, bambuser and other live video sites.
On the not working (at least for me) list is myspace.com where you're also greeted with an apparent link to the Android Market that doesn't work (presumably because the myspace app hasn't been approved for the puny qvga screen yet)
also I'm very sleep deprived right now and can't focus on just writing posts, must play with smileys and fonts!
There is no version for Tattoo but you can get a version for Hero, Magic and Dream. I picked Hero and it looks like it's working (just a quick test).
On the other hand: Can someone help me with a Google maps version where you can use the layer function and "My maps"?
I have been using these functions for some time on my old HTC Touch Diamond and must admid that I was deeply surprised that Tattoo came without them...very strange...
There's another app that has just been updated to work on Tattoo also, Magnatune, listen to music from the Magnatune store, find it in the android market
Has anyone tried M-Converter? It worked fine on the G1 but not on the Tattoo. It installs and everything but does not compute values. Could someone try it out an let me know if it works?
I have the HTC Tattoo on Orange UK and cannot find any of the popular unofficial applications mentioned such as Facebook, Ebuddy, Myspace to mention but a few, on either The Market place or Slideme.org. Also getjar.com does not list the Tattoo as a Phone :-(
can't seem to download files from the market app. FYI: this phone came with slideme and I had to download market.apk and install it. when I click on download it says that there's an error and i have to restart market app. then it gets stuck in downloading.
I got Navit to work ok on my tattoo. The only issue I had was that the TTS system used was not available in the Market. Install the Extended TTS system instead and it works.
I got this app from the Navit Wiki at Navit's Wiki.
Please notice that I have given information on where to obtain this app peeps. Many of the above mentioned working un-offical apps I cannot find anywhere, and what I can find just tries to look them up in the Market - from where they are missing.. As mentioned by royiswise. I too am on orange UK and I don't get what they've done to my phone, or why they've even done it as it seems to me they've broke it!
Device(s): HTC Tattoo,
LG GT540, SE X8, HTC Chacha

yeah I tried it too - it says compatible with android 2.0 only. Not sure if the Tattoo does get an upgrade wether the hardware will support it or not? It maybe the case that only devices that ship with 2.0 will be compatible.
Oh yeah and nobody knows wether the tattoo will actually get a 2.0 update!
Well when I asked HTC about the upgrade they skirted around subject saying Devices and Regions had not been confirmed. They would only Confirm they are working in Dev with HTC sense to work with 2.0
Found a couple of useful/useless (depending on what you want).
If you go to Application management under settings, find HTC Sense you can deselect the defaults with it, then next time you press the home button it asks what you want to do, mark the box underneath and select Home. This will then show the default Android home screen everytime home is selected. I prefer this as more of the background is seen, and it is marginally quicker. The downside is you do not get use of HTC widgets such as the full screen music and calendar widgets (never use them anyway, you still can use Android widgets), and you get 3 screens instead of seven, which is much preferred for me. If you don't like go back into app management, find home and delete the defaults, then next time home is pressed select the HTC Sense option. Hope this helps someone.
The over thing is Madcow solutions have managed to get Google Maps working with Navigator in the UK, with full 3D directions and voice navigation. I have this working o my phone and it is incredible (THANK YOU MADCOW!!).
All you do is download it, transfer to device then using a file manager app find it and install it. This will lead to having two Google Maps on your device, once you find the right one just drop that onto your home page (it was the second one for me). If any programs ask which action you wish to take you select the files ending with m4ps not maps.
Yet again I hope this helps somebody.
Also, is it possible to get a very brief description of what each of the above programs actually do so we have some idea if we need/want them in the first place?
Thank you All for these Great Tips I have been going potty with my Tattoo and installed loads of apps but cannot get hold of the one that I want which is ebuddy I went to the GetJar website but cannot find a way of downloading it as the Tattoo is not listed. Any tips?
Thanks for the quick response. I tried with the Hero as my phone and got ebudy lite installed then tried again with the Dream and got hold of the Full client which installs and works fine. Thanks again.
