Same with me. Did you turn your 4G off? I did and thought that might have something to do with it?
Turned my 4G back on and it's the same. (Blank and can't edit)

Got my "extended until June 15th" text today from VZW which is nice as we go on vacation at the end of May and naturally the "nice" hotel we are staying in doesn't offer free internet. At least this way I will be having 4G speeds to browse with! Sticking it to tha man! haha
Any success in getting the free wifi hack to work? I see the free hotspot has been extended. Also saw strong rumors that tiered data pricing arrives on 7/7--right after the free mobile hotspot expires on 7/6
Those settings are now on the SIM card and not on the phone. Next step is to figure out how to edit the SIM card; on the phone, through a reader or otherwise.
Has anyone else here had experience with this app? Does it in fact allow for un-rooted users to get free teathering? Thanks for the input!
EDIT: I do plan on rotting once my phone comes in today, no worries! This is just going to be temporary or to help other non-rooted users save $30 if it doesn't work
I downloaded Foxfi from the Market. It enables wifi hotspot without root. Has worked great on my Razr Maxx. According to the creator, it works on all devices except for any HTC models or the original Droid.

Not knocking you for trying to be helpful.
But this is an HTC Thunderbolt forum, yet you post something recommending an app that specifically states that it won't work on HTC phones.

I use PDAnet from www junefabrics com It's a free/$20 program that I've used for 2 years now on two different phones and works great for tethering without rooting and there are no verizon fees. HTC Thunderbolt

This allows wifi tether? I'm using EasyTether Pro which does me no good with my Kindle Fire, nor does FoxFi as the Fire lacks bluetooth.
I'm a late comer and tried this, but does not work for me. Must be because it's an old post and vz has fixed the ability to take advantage of this. Thanks for sharing though. Wish i had the balls to try rooting. Hate hate hate paying for wi-fi! Htc vz thunderbolt using 2.11.
Have you tried Foxfi? Not sure if it works on HTC phones but the app will get you wireless tether without rooting and it pulls from your current data plan.

I tired it on non rooted Thunderbolt and it does not work
so is there any way to get the mobile hotspot on the htc thunderbolt without paying an extra 30 a month?
on the thunderbolt you pretty much need to root the phone. check the rooting section for how to root, it's not hard if you are tech savvy

HUGE ripoff. I use 20 gb per month with my unlimited data plan and pay $70/month after taxes and company discount

this is what I do. there are other tether apps too but wifi tether with the green wifi symbol (not yellow) works best
The HTC Thunderbolt is the first ever 4G phone on Verizon Wireless. The name is no surprise... you can expect the Thunderbolt to have lightning speeds as the carrier ushers in a new era of mobile power.
