Default List your biggest complaints about Thunderbolt

I'm sure battery life is an issue for many people, also no skype video chat. Is there anything else you don't like about this phone? I'm on the fence on this phone right now, and wanted to hear out people's complaints on this phone before i pull the trigger.

My biggest complaint are the cry-baby threads that post unrealistic expectations for the phone. "You mean I own a phone that's owned by THAT whiney baby?!?!"

ah i am still locked in for another 8 months for my previous 2 year contract, and was looking to use 1 year Early Upgrade program for this, but wanted to sign up for only 1 year contract.

I was just looking around on VZW web looking at this option to see if i could sign up for only 1 year contract, not 2-year...but it doesn't seem to offer that option when i upgrade thru early upgrade.

Does anybody know if early upgrade only allows new 2-year contracts?

If you are using an early upgrade on a two-year plan you can only use the two-year extension.

Battery - though it's getting better. I went almost a full day yesterday since I unplugged it in the morning. Otherwise, this phone is FANTASTIC. HTC Sense is very very subtle and doesn't get in the way. In fact, I like Sense. And the HTC keyboard is really nice. I like it better than the iPhone keyboard.

My biggest complaint is the kickstand is positioned such that you can't charge while the kickstand is in use (well you can, it just defeats the purpose). This is more a minor annoyance than anything though, as I don't really need the kickstand ever.

My battery is now going on 25.5 hours and has 16% left. I was mostly on wifi during this time so that seems to be a huge battery saver. If I am on the road or out of a wifi zone it seems to drain more quickly. Juice Defender claims it saved 1.24x battery, or 24%, but not sure if this is accurate.

I used an early upgrade to get a 1 year contract after only 15 months on my previous 2 year. I had to call in and ultimately talk to a couple of people to get it done but it is definitely possible.

I still have no battery gripe. I've had my phone unplugged almost 23 hours now and I'm still at 39%. A bunch of it has been wifi, but honestly, if you have wifi available and are using 3g I have one question for you. WHY? Anyway, I've played games on it and downloaded AND streamed music during this 23 hours. Partially on 3g, partially on wifi. I'd say the battery life is great given that the battery is only 1400mAh.

I was able to do an early upgrade after 1 year of contract and still just take a 1 year contract on the TB. I went to the store and told them I wanted the TB with a one year contract. They could not figure out why it was not an option so they sold me the 2 year contract and called support to have them change it to a one year. I verified this in My Verizon, they did just end up giving me the 1 year contract. So it is possible if they want to do it.

You will love this phone people just expect unrealistic things from phones. The battery life isnt that bad, but its not great either. Other than that I love the phone and once 4g is in my area I will love it that much more.

Default I hate this phone!

Here are my complaints:
Size That's what she said. I am a guy with small girly hands and this thing is too big. I didn't realize this before I bought it, how would I have known? I like to wear skinny hipster jeans and this phone doesn't even fit through the pocket hole!
Weight It is heavy and feels like a brick! Lifting it feels like a workout! I am a heavy guy (mostly fat, no muscle) and it feels painful to hold sometimes!
Not dual core I don't even know what that means or how that will improve the phone but I want it because it sounds cool! I heard my friend say that the youtube videos load up faster on his Atrix by about 0.5 seconds. That is 0.5 seconds of my life that I'm not getting back.
Screen It's not a retina display! I heard those are made by apple and they look like a retina or something cool like that.
It's not an iPhone I thought it would be an iphone but it's not an iphone.

I think that's an unfair comment. I love this phone, but people are entitled to their opinion, and it's nice to be aware of potential problems.

I ordered on an early upgrade for $229 for a 1 year contract. They weren't able to get that price in the store, but online it worked just fine. I heard I will be eligible for a new phone in 10 months.

Phanbois are all the same, no matter what flavor the device. God forbid someone doesn't like something about the device they own. Insecure much? It is a phone, not your child.

There are things wrong with this phone whether certain folks believe them to be true or not. There are also things this phone does far better than any other phone. Just need to see if the good outweigh the bad and then make a decision based on that.

By biggest complaint are people like you who think that this phone is absolutely perfect and don't respect the opinions of people who have legitimate complaints/issues with the phone.

This is a thread for people who have complaints about the phone. If you don't have any, why post?

Default re

to anybody that whines about it not being a dual core.

try it first the thing is freaking fast..

Your only complaining about the fact that its not a dual core because you bought into some hype and never really thought about what it did.

Because the thunderbolt is way fast.

it makes my incredible seem like a G1.

dammit i am a slow mother flucker... i did not notice the sarcasm in the iphone post.

I R dumby

How did you not know how big it was, didn't you play with it (or at least hold it) before you threw down $250?? I wear skinny jeans sometimes and I have no problem getting the bolt in and out. Is it big in my pocket? Yes, but I knew it would be before I purchased it. I mean no disrespect by this, but please go return your Bolt so someone who appreciates Android can have it. There will be plenty of iPhone's with lack of flash and microSD support, lack of customizations and small processors available for you.

And you're right it's not an iPhone, it's a Thunderbolt and it is sooooo much better.

There will be plenty of iPhone's with lack of flash and microSD support, lack of customizations and small processors available for you.

And you're right it's not an iPhone, it's a Thunderbolt and it is sooooo much better.
Must be the skinny jeans cutting the circulation off, not allowing the proper blood flow to your brain. Happens all the time with kids these days.

Battery life. One thing that is an annoyance for ME that probably wouldn't effect the majority of you is in the Contacts, the NOTES field is only a 1 line scroll. Am self-employed and use the notes field to store information unique to that client about their network setup, IP Addresses, user passwords, software installation info, etc. (I should mention that I'm an IT Engineer for a lot of clients). AFTER you get it in there however, it WILL display it all on the screen, however, entering it sux!

I like the way the Incredible did it MUCH better.

Like I said, won't effect most people. Greatly effects me, but not enough to ditch the phone! I LOVE my Thunderbolt!

Well my only complaint so far is a glitch I notice with headphones with built in mics. When you plug it in it disables the mic. And when your phone does go on 4G the battery life turns atrocious.
With that said this phone is very impressive. It is extremely fast. Games play way better on it than it did the incredible and the sound quality on calls are amazing. The 4G although it eats on battery power like a homeless person having a steak dinner, is incredibly fast! This is the smoothest Android phone I have ever touched, even with the usually laggy sense. I had the iPhone 4 for a couple days before I took it back to get this and the Thunderbolt is faster than that even without Dual core. So if you don't mind bad battery life and can afford an extended battery then I say go for it. Unless you're not really into large phones then don't.

Battery life while sleeping overnight. I started a thread and it looks like I'm in the minority with this issue. I will test it again tonight and if it's still an issue I will bring it into VZW

I guess my only complaint is there are no 64gig micro sd cards or larger and no 4g in my area.

My biggest complaint about it is that Verizon told me it would be here in two days, and what they meant was two business days. I even said, "so it will be delivered with the Saturday delivery option?", and the woman confirmed that was true.

Not really about the bolt, I know, but given that I do not own physically have one, it is the closest I can get.

I noticed the mic issue with the headphones plugged in. My workaround is to switch to speakerphone when in my car dock. Custom Car Home has a setting for that, not sure about the stock car dock software, though. My real workaround will (I hope) be use of a bluetooth A2DP receiver. It still hasn't arrived so I don't know how well it will work.

I also noticed the kick stand / charging problem. I guess I'll put the phone in portrait mode when I use it as an alarm. This seems like a real oversight to me.

But both of these were mentioned -- I wanted to follow on with the workarounds.

The only other minor complaint is it's hard to get out of the car dock. I'm afraid it'll go flying and break the screen. I'm sure I'll get the knack over time, though.

All in all I love this phone, so far.

Ha if you think it is a workout you need to hit the gym. And get an iphone that way it can fit in your skinny jeans. But since you seem like such an apple fanboy why are you on an android forum? smh

Gotta be the weak speaker IMO. My OG Droid speaker was at least twice as loud, probably more like 3x.

More like a parody of all the complaints I've been seeing on this forum as well as others.

If someone thinks it's too big or heavy, don't even comment here, it's not for you. Go get the nexus s, Incredible or galaxy s phones. There's something for everyone. That's whats good about android.

Battery life is as expected. It's a trade off. If you want to have fast data speeds, you will have to manage your battery life intelligently. I've been able to get a day's worth of battery life on all of my Android phones in the past few years by managing it well.

I can even argue that the battery life is better than the iphone. Because you have the option of replacing the battery. If you are out on the road with your iphone without the charger and wall outlet, you are out of luck.

Who cares about dual core. Dual core trend won't last long. Might as well get this now and get a quad core phone next year and skip over the whole dual core thing.

I have the same complaint as I did with the INC, location problems and GPS in Extended networks. My history for my Latitude is pretty funny. I have traveled 38k miles. I work in town. My location keeps going back and forth to another town in Iowa. Otherwise I like the phone, and i love the big screen!!!

I had an issue Friday night. Woke up Saturday with the battery at 30%. I had 1 missed phone call and 2 text messages. Other than that, no phone use.

Last night I gave it a bump charge before bed. That was nearly 17 hrs ago and I haven't had to charge it yet today. I'm sitting around 30% now. Going to let it run down and do another bump charge tonight.

I just used my early upgrade to get the TB and I had to sign up for 2 more years. I spoke to Verizon rep and that's the only way I could get the TB - hope this helps.

Ahh, i think i just fixed the problem. Found the service screen where you can pick what service (3g or 4g) you want. Picked CDMA (auto PRL) and it works...fingers are crossed. GPS locks on and location is right. Whoo hoo!!!!
