What part if the city are you in? The airport has solid 4g, which the coverage maps show bleeds over into downtown, as well as West Valley. Last night I was downtown and briefly switched to 4g while walking outside, but the signal didn't last when I went inside a building.

However, about 5 nights ago, my phone switched briefly to 4g while inside my house in murray.

I don't have any idea how soon, but citywide 4g is coming!

You'll get 4g in most of west valley and north salt lake. They're expanding it pretty quickly here.

Have you guys done a bandwidth test to see the speeds? Is there a notable difference?

Try using the speakeasy.net/speedtest website.
It's already known the speedtest app is wrong due to the LTE network.
No network is going to give you 30 up.

30 down is very possible and doable, 30 up is just not happening.

Wrong. LTE network is giving 3-5X faster upload than download.

I live in Olympus Cove, and have 4G since Saturday! It is awesome. Returning the TB because of the tiny battery and waiting for the Bionic is going to really kill me now.

perhaps the LTE will support 30+ upload speeds, but this screen shot of my LTE Speedtest while downtown on Saturday is definitely wrong on the upload speed ...

Please do a search on the Android forums, Thunderbolt specifically, and you'll find the App for Speedtest is wrong. You don't have to take my word for it.
It's a known bug...and LTE does not give three to 5 times faster upload than down.

Quite welcome. I didn't want to come off as being a jerk or rude...I know it's hard to tell tone/attitude by reading someone's post.

In my personal experience in Detroit, 2 bars of LTE get me 10 to 14 down and 2 to 3.5 up.
Recently I've hit a few spots with 4 bars, and talk about screaming!!
25 to 33 down and 3 to 4.5 up.

Once the network really gets used, and I'm talking cell phones and usb modems, etc.
If I can stay around 10 down and 2 up...I will be very, very happy.
That is better than you get at any wifi hotspot anywhere, except my house of course.

Tethered to a laptop/PC via wifi or USB results in amazing speeds as well.

Just did a test in 4g..

I used that speakeasy site and connected to a server in San Francisco, (not sure why there wasn't anything closer to test with) and got 10.23 down and 1.82 up.

So there you go

And.... It's gone. I guess they are going to turn it on and off for a while as they get things going and the bugs worked out. At least the fact that we had it for a couple days is a good sign it is coming very soon!

Keep an eye on VZW press releases and your local paper.
That's how I found out about Detroit area...and now they're doing other areas in MI as well.
