like the title says(supposed to be TB), by thunderbolt housing is separating! along the left top side about a inch down from the top, my housing is bowing out from the glass screen and you can actually see one of the clips that holds this unit together!
any one else having this problem? i will try and post a pic but i cant get a good one so far as its a really close up pic and its blurry.

Wow...the hits just keep on coming. For a phone that was supposed to be high end, HTC really dropped the ball. Sorry OP, I feel ya pain...I'd deff get on the horn and give VZW hell, and demand a new phone. That's just not cool...

i didn't even notice it till yesterday when i removed my vzw silicone case to clean my tb! i got on the horn within 5 minutes and had one overnighted to me should arrive today! HTC really dropped the ball on this one!
do you people even realize that there are hundreds of thousands of people, who have this phone without problems? a couple hundred or so phones messing up on this forum does not represent the overall quality of the phone
misery loves company I guess

Yeah. Mine has a couple problems to.. I just live with it though as you are never gonna find a perfect one. Plus I have a little issue (Recessed power button) if I get a replacement then it might have a worse problem

My man don't even go back and fourth with some of these cats...its a waste of time, some people just don't get it...that is until it happens to them. And at that point they won't even come on here and vent, because some of us that did have issues will remember all the junk that was being talked about being picky, and anal, and how can our phones have these problem if there's doesn't. I still like the phone...but build quality wise, its made like Garbage.

Lmfao... The first one I had didnt read SD cards. The second one I had had dead pixels. But I dont come one here every time and create a new thread on how I got another problem.. It gets annoying every time I log onto here and see somebody that made a new thread because the have a problem.. I think there is a sticky that says list your complaints why not do it in there?

I don't have a problem with people venting or even complaining. The only thing that annoys me is people saying that the phone overall is crap, when we are only seeing a very very small percentage of the total amount of users. You cannot say "build quality wise, its made like Garbage" because for me personally this is the most rock solid phone I have ever handled. On the other hand saying "build quality wise, my specific tb is made like garbage", that is an acceptable non ignorant statement.
By all means return the phone if it isn't perfect. We all payed good money for these phones so they should be darn near it.

I think what was being said though, is simply that saying HTC dropped it, on a small percentage of the overall outcropping of phones, is a little out of scale. And that would go for any product, of course. There will always be some that aren't right, there are always going to be some that suffer. Sadly, there are also those cases where it seems some people are doomed to defective ones (I've had people say "I've had nothing but problems with the 4 phones I replaced", while other people have loved the same phone for years with no issues. Strange world, but whatever).
And yes, not everyone will end up with a phone with issues. And yes, almost everyone's phone is going to not have an issue until it does. That's kinda..how most things are.
Personally I've been happy with mine, but again, I haven't had any issues. Will I down the road? who knows. There's also the chance that as they keep up production, things might solidify a little more. Just speculating, but hey, never know.
I don't think it's anyone's intent to call out other people, or bash on people who do end up with issues. I also don't think they're saying that everyone with issues is just under the Tough Luck rule, nor do I believe they're saying that the product is perfect, it must be 100% user error on it all. I think some people are just trying to offer a little more context in the overall scheme of the production to date, and offer a thought about the overall percentage of issues in comparison to total production so far.
EDIT: ^^ beat me to it. lol

Complaining that the battery doesn't last as long as you'd like, screen resolution is too low, charging port location on the "wrong" side of the phone...those kinds of things go in the thread that you linked to.
The OP posted about a manufacturing defect in their particular phone. That's not complaining...that's something that should make people remove any phone case they are using and check their device for the same issue.
If the phone blew up in someone's hand...I wouldn't want that information buried along with hundreds or thousands of other posts complaining about somewhat unimportant things "I don't like the volume control buttons".
Personally, I feel like the TB's build quality is very impressive. The battery door design and fit is my only real complaint (there is just one of the top corners that has a tiny bit of play in it).
But people's individual experiences will dictate how they view the device. If I had screen separation on my phone...I would chalk it up to being a "bad egg" and get a new one. If I had a second one that had the same issue, I'd call it junk and no one could convince me otherwise (even if I was the only person to ever have that issue).

Can we see a picture of what this gap looks like? I have to say as build quality goes HTC is sub par with most other makers. The Evo also had/has tons of build quality issues as well, and it seems like they learned nothing from it. I wonder if these handsets are hand assembled vs robotic assembly like most other makers employ.

My power button kept sinking and finally was flush with the rest of the phone so I decided to call verizon and they sent me a replacement and hopefully this one doesnt have the issue. I didnt want to send it back but it kept getting worse. I wonder if after awhile they will let people change to another phone if they have to keep getting replacements.

pictures are really crappy, but if you seen it in person it would be obvious as you would see the gap.
where you see the flash line right on top you can notice how its bowing out
that reflection you see along side of the bezel is actually a clip im guessing from the housing to the internal parts.
The HTC Thunderbolt is the first ever 4G phone on Verizon Wireless. The name is no surprise... you can expect the Thunderbolt to have lightning speeds as the carrier ushers in a new era of mobile power.
While 4G speeds on a Verizon Android Phone ... Read More
