This was a common function on my bb curve and was very easy. It's not uncommon for me to need to forward a email but as a sms.

Does any one know how this is done on the tb?

not exactly a stellar or 100% working resolution for all cases,
but--using the Mail app
open your message
long press a word, this brings up the Select Text brackets
choose your desired content, then hit "share via" in the same bubble,
and select your SMS app

once again--not exactly as simple as it could be, but it does the job
