Of course all of those Apple devices still had 3G. Those devices, among every other non-4G (Thunderbolt) device runs on a different 3G radio than the Thunderbolt.

So no, this isn't an Apple supremacy thing. Not saying that you were going that direction, but just wanted to point that out.

Default Stuck in 1X all day

Without showing my phone to anyone, I went into the Verizon store today and they ARE having a problem at Verizon. They are working on it as the guy had a Thunderbolt and it was stuck on 1X also.

I'm sorry, I was a little out of line. I just thought you would have read at least a few posts from this thread before you made your comment proclaiming that there is a problem. Everyone knew that in the first page of this thread.

Every carrier has its outages. I ran in to one while with AT&T and couldnt make a call for over a day. Look at how many times blackberry went down. Atleast with verizon you can still get 3g working on the bolt.

I'm not convinced this is only a thunderbolt issue. I am in a 3g only area and I have 1x only. Also my wife's droid1 is stuck on 1x or nothing at all.

my wifes devour is on 3g and I did the XDA thing on my bolt and its on 3g again. So its not the whole system. As others have chimed in and said other people that had regular 3g phones are still on 3g. I know with my D1 where I live I am almost on the fringe and it switches to 1x at times.

My wife's Droid has been fine all day but I had to do the fix on my Bolt in order to get 3G.

I'm in a 3G only area and my wife's Ally has had full 3G the whole time. I had to use the fix from XDA to get mine back. Even though it says 3G it still doesn't seem as fast as it was on 3G before the outage, i.e. last night.

I watched my phone do the transition from 3G to 1X today....I lost ALL signal for about 5 seconds, then I had signal, but no data, then it turned to 1X and stayed that way all day.

Not too worried, since I'm generally in wireless space most of the day. Hope they get this fixed soon!

Default $10???

For those of you claiming a $10 credit offered... I just called and tactfully complained... The lady at Verizon said that they could divide my monthly rate by 30 and offer me that since it has only been out for a day... I reminded her that we don't know how long it will be out yet, but no extra help... Any ideas or are you guys stretching the truth.

my battery life has been amazing today. under normal usage with 4g i'd be around 20% left by now, instead i'm at 46% with 13hrs off the charger. using the phone the same way i did on mon and tues. being in 1x all day has made a significant difference in battery life in my case.

also made it clearer to me that not including the option for a 4g toggle was a huge gaffe by vzw imo. htc could definitely have done it since they did for the evo. vzw making the call not to include it is almost criminal.

Criminal? Drama Queen, LTEonoff is available in the android market for free. It was out shortly after the phone came out and the phone always had the switch to turn off data - basically going to the 1X you experienced today.

How long can it take Verizon to fix this? Going on almost 24 hours. In the last 10 years, I've never noticed any carrier's cell phone service being out more than a few minutes.

Nationwide 3G outage for 24 hours? Doesn't seem that Verizon is working very hard on it. Maybe they're getting ready to turn on LTE everywhere....

Ya right.

Update: I guess I complained too soon. Turned off WiFi and I now have 3G again. No 4G in my area yet.

Cell phone service is not affected. And 3g is not down, only the 4g. Read through this thread and you'll find several links on how to turn on 3g in your tbolt.

I just checked to see if they fixed it yet with the ##778# to put it back and still on 1x. SO I put it back to have normal 3g. As long as I can manually configure the 3g I am not to worried about it. I am sure they will get it fixed and who knows maybe they found a problem with the charge or better yet maybe someone turned on a charge and crashed the network lol.

I just called and did the same thing. I nicely said I was upset and she immediately said she would credit me for the data charge. After she processed it, I asked her how much it was and she said she took the $29.99 amount and divided by 30, so it would be .99 but she rounded up to $1. Woohoo! Anyway, she said is this continues another day to call again and get another whole $1. If this stays down long enough, I'll have free data.....oh wait...at 1X. Oh well.

my rom gives me the ability to toggle 4g from within the settings. there still isn't a widget to toggle 4g. many users don't know a toggle app is available. i would expect it to be in the settings or have a widget like the evo. vzw is clearly making it difficult for the end user to control 4g settings. most tb owners aren't on xda or androidforums where tips to manage 4g and battery life are easy to find.

If they can't figure out how to use google to find info on their phone or smart enough to think about it, maybe they shouldn't have an android phone to begin with. Not trying to be rude but it's the truth.

3G came back in Buffalo, NY with no fixes. Cannot report about 4G because we don't have it here.
