Default Camera won't work

hello all, this morning I woke up to find that the camera app on my phone no longer opens. Last night the camera was working fine but for some reason today it just won't open. When i click to open the app the little white camera icon pops up like usual however the screen goes black and then it just jumps back to the homescreen. Now I've tried rebooting my phone, force stopping the app and clearing the camera data but still, no dice. I have been running one of the first GB builds from a few weeks ago but it isn't the latest one. However since I got that my camera has been working flawlessly. At the moment I am downloading the latest RUU to fix everything but I was wondering if there was anything else i could do to try to make it work again or is a reset my only ooption? thanks.

Read this: Camara issue gtalk FC in essence, you might be able to change the time function. Obviously, the build isn't entirely stable. If you have your Eris rooted, I suggest rooting your Thunderbolt using Unrevoked, and installing dad BAMF 4.9. EVERYTHING works great for me!

I did the date reset thing and it worked out fine. But according to the post it isn't a permanent fix. I also saw within that thread there was a few .zip 's that were supposed fixes, however I'm not rooted so will I even be able to flash those? I know I could just root but rooting my Eris was a piece of cake with the apps they had for it, the TB root seems so much more intimidating haha. thank you though.

I don't believe that since you're not rooted, you would be able to flash them, unfortunately. Fortunately, you're still able at this point I believe, able to root with Revolutionary if you so wish.

I'll admit, I first thought that rooting my Thunderbolt was going to be a pain in the booty. I heard about rooting with Revolutionary and scotty85 was really nice and posted how to do this here: http://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/402115-thunderbolt-rooting-methods-updated.html The video that Nate Mills made is fantastic as it does pretty much go through the entire process and you can see how it's done, while even doing it yourself.

Watch the video once or twice before doing it if you will and then take a few hours time. Trust me when I say few hours as in, two. After that, the process is nothing compared to installing a new rom, etc.

I know I'm dumb but if I root the phone, can it be unrooted later if say, I return it to Verizon for whatever reason?

I'm not quite sure because whenever I've rooted I always flash ROMS that already have been debloated which I suggest because it'll greatly increase performance and features. If I'm not mistaken you have to use the app "root explore" to remove bloat apps. I'm not 100% though, perhaps someone else will chime in who's a little more knowledgeable than I haha

Where did you get the ROMS and what is the latest and most dependable
one to flash?

My phone is not rooted and I have the GB leak 2.11.605.0 installed. My camera also quit working. Is there a way to fix it without rooting my phone? Please explain.

Yes there is. Menu>settings>date & time> uncheck automatic and set the date back a month. Reboot your phone and change it back to automatic. Everything should work just fine, however I'm not sure it'll last for until you have to repeat the same process. But at least it works. As far as ROMS go check out XDA or Team BAMF forums. Im using Uber Bamf and so far its pretty good. A mix of Sense 3.0 and 2.1. Some bugs but nothung major.
