Default HTC Sync not updating music files

I am having problems with HTC Sync NOT updating changes to music files. I have tried deleting all music files from my device (HTC vivid) and try to force a full/complete sync but not luck. It only syncs a few music files.

How can I force a full/complete sync? do I need to delete some file that keeps track of last sync date (I have not been able to find a file if one exists on the device)?

How do I Sync Music with HTC Sync? close Music sync options
Bring the music tracks and songs you play on your computer to your device. If you have playlists created in iTunes® or Windows Media® Player, you can sync these too and enjoy them on the go.

Note: You can sync audio files in these formats: *.aac, *.amr, *.m4a, *.mid, *.midi, *.mp3, *.wav, *.wma
  1. On the Device panel of HTC Sync on your PC, click Music, and then click the On button. Turning Music sync on means you want this category included every time you sync your computer and your device.
  2. Select Sync music files from, and then click Add.
  3. Choose a folder that contains your audio files, and then click OK.
Select Sync music files from iTunes and Windows Media Player if you're using iTunes® or Windows Media® Player on your computer, then choose the playlists you want to sync on your device.

I'm having a related problem with the latest version of HTC Sync and my new Amaze. I have the "PC documents" setting enabled and pointing at \My Documents\[device name] documents\ .

It only synced two sub-folders and certain file types. A third sub-folder (underneath [device name] documents) called "Sounds" with .WAV, .AAC, and .MP3 files was not synced at all. I tried re-syncing several times, no joy. This seems like a significant bug unless there's functionality I don't know about. (There doesn't seem to be a user guide for HTC Sync, and the Help menu only offers "Check for updates" and "About." Pretty lame.)

Not sure if this is an anomaly, but the folders showed up in /mnt/sdcard/My Documents/l/documents and settings/[username]/[device name] documents/ . (Note my PC's documents folders are on an L: drive, not c:\documents and settings\ like XP's usual plan.

Any suggestions or links to HTC technical information would be appreciated.

Have you tried reading these options?
HTC Mobile Phone Support - HTC Vivid? (AT&T) - Synchronization

I think your sounds have to be on your music folder to be synced.Try moving your files you want synced to one of the sub-folders that are syncing and see what happens.Sounds on your sd card should be under Media/audio folder.I had to create this folder on my sd card to add ringtones, notifications, and alarms sub-folders to it etc.Good Luck!

Yes, I read all that.

Workaround: I actually just mounted the cards (internal and external) as disk drive and moved/copied files that way.

The sound files I was referring to were not music, but I wouldn't be surprised if HTC Sync saw them as such and excluded them. I use MediaMonkey to sync music with playlists, and organize under /sdcard2/Music/ .
