Thats awesome! This update has totally totally taken the desire to root, and hidden it in the closet for now! I'll probably wait until someone ports Sense 4.0 and gets it real stable before I proceed with that!

I definitely want to use your rom. When I finally root, I will definitely use yours. I have joined your forum, I am just apprehensive about flashing using fastusb. Totally inexperienced....

I was using Launcher Pro before, but does not seem to work right with ICS. I switched to Apex and it seems to be doing a lot better. I just don't like sence because I cannot change the number of screens. I only ever use three and I would like to keep it that way.

Your mistaken with ICS you have the option to have however many screens you want.Just click home until all your screens show and long press the one you want to remove and drag it to the bin in the top right corner.I was using Golauncher Ex before i upgraded but love using sense with this new ICS Upgrade.
Hope this helps!

This is not an option in Sense. It uses carousel animation instead of scrolling wallpaper.Only way to have this is to go with a launcher that supports scrolling wallpaper.

Thumbs up Thanks very much.

I too installed the ICS RUU this morning. I must have read everything ten times, and then backed everything up five times.

Very easy simple install. Still making tweaks, however I definitely like the interface better. Looks like I will have to go with a WCX ROM though for the wifi hotspot enablement. I now have all the SDK and java software installed, next thing is to root after I fully understand the process. Back to more reading.

Its times like these that I miss my Windows Mobile phone (Only because I knew how to fearlessly dive into it).

Yes it does, however it is blocked unless you add a tethering plan. Unfortunately AT&T will not allow me to keep the unlimited plan with their tether plan. PDA NET still works with a cable, however I need the wifi to work for a tablet and IPAD in the car for the kids.

Unless you have some exploit or work around I have yet to find?

No i do not.Looks like rooting and another ROM is the way to go for what you need.

No problems here.Have you tried restarting your phone?
Android optimizes each time you restart.
Also go to menu/settings/usage and make sure Set data usage limit is not checked and mobile network is turned on under this setting.

Thanks to everyone on this thread.. I'm looking at getting ICS but I to want to be able to tether. Maybe someone will have this all together in an easy to install bundle.

I'm new to all this too (ex long term iphone slut). PDA NET net looks like it will work for me, just hope ATT cant tell if I tether it or not.

I loaded the RUU last week and am very happy with it for the most part. I do think the battery life isnt quite as good as the last GB build was before updating. I also waited until I stopped playing around with it so much afterwards to make that judgement. I also might have lost the "NEW" HTC device reflex. One good reason: the scroll stop in sense 4.0. They took the carousel away! I dont need the animation so much as I love to go from once screen to the next and not have to go back 7 screens or whatever to to where I wanted without holding the home key down.

First, go to this link and download the RUU(Rom Upgrade Utility) http://goo-inside.me/devs/pirateghost/vivid/RUU/RUU_HOLIDAY_ICS_35_S_CINGULAR_3.26.502.52.zip

Second, you need to use HTC Sync to sync any data that you want saved.

Third, you need to connect your device to your computer, and set it to "charge only". You need to make sure that you have "USB Debugging Enabled".
  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.
  4. Tap Development
  5. Tap to check USB debugging.
Once you've enabled USB Debugging, and connected your device using the "charge only" setting, Double click the RUU file.

From that point on, it will prompt you for a couple things, but there are no options or choices to make. Its bulletproof.

THIS OPERATION WILL COMPLETELY WIPE YOUR ONBOARD DATA, AND RETURN YOUR PHONE TO "OUT OF BOX" CONDITION. It will have Android 4.0.3, and Sense 3.6

This is an AT&T release and does not void your warranty, unlock your bootloader, gain access to the root folder, or remove AT&T bloatware. This is perfectly legit for those who don't wish to mess with root. An RUU is the manufacturers method for upgrading phones.

I have screenshots, and just don't wanna mess with uploading them(too much of a pain). If you wanna see them, PM me and I'll email them to you.

This is painless and so worth it!!!

EDIT: This does not wipe your SD Card

Unless you found an announcement from AT&T or HTC that it will be Sense 4.0.I don't believe it will be Sense 4.0.From what i understand that's a rumor.I am trying to find out for sure though

Whew...its good to be back!! Just rolled into the office after a 3 hour drive, and I'm ready to go home and sleep!!

From what I understand, sense 4.0 is a pipe dream. There are some dev's out there who are talking about porting it, and running it on ICS, but nothing of any consequence to date.

I got all the instructions that I need to finally flash WCX. I have a feeling that sense 4.0 will be something he cranks out when he gets a chance...

Some people are also saying this works to get the update with no ROM's or Hacks.
I performed a system update yesterday by dialing *#*#682#*#* after it was done I woke up with ICS and sense 3.6.Credit goes to Switchblade696 @ Androidcentral.com.

If it works, it is basically just pinging att's system to send you the "user-friendly RUU". I don't believe that wipes all your data...although I'm a firm believer in a full wipe upon any system mods...its just good practice...
