Okay, standard warning nothing to worry about:
IF YOU BREAK YOUR PHONE, NOT MY FAULT OR THE FOURMS FAULT, FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS AND YOULL BE FINE. THIS IS ONLY FOR VIRGIN MOBILE USA OR SPRINT
Now that thats out there here we go:
A prl is the file that tells your phone what towers to use, and virgin mobile doesnt get to use all sprints towers, however you may use them if you were to connect to them. This is what increases your data, especially in a 4G town.
follow this exactly as I say!
You must download QPST, the prl file, an app on the phone and be rooted:
1) download this on the phone https://market.android.com/details?i...code.msl&hl=en
2) Open the app, and accept the superuser request.
3) Tap read MSL
4) Write down your MSL, youll need it
5) Go to the phone app, dial ##PORT# and hit on, then select.
6) Enter your MSL and click ok
7) Plug into a computer and download HTC diag drivers attached to this thread
8) Go ahead and google and download QPST
9) Download and unzip the attached 60681.zip
10) Now for fun, If anything confuses you, google it.
10B) go to the device manager, and select the unknown HTC device, then update driver. then browse>let me pick from a list>have disk>go to downloaded unzipped folder>choose the appropreate folder for your OS type>click the driver. Now open, next, yes, close. Right click HTC Modem, and go to Properties>Advanced port settings>see what your COM port is
10C)Open QPST CONFIGURATION and select port. then add port, here you type the port your HTC MODEM is on.
10D) Your phone will now show up, and you will click start client>service programing
11) click your device and ok.
12) DO EXACTLY AS I SAY NOW! NOTHING ELSE!!! NO LOOKING AROUND!!!!!!!
13) Click read from phone, Give it the MSL you wrote down
14) Now click save to file
15) Click roam
16) Click browse where it says file and in that you put the 60681.prl you downloaded AND unzipped
17) Write to phone. THIS WILL RESTART THE PHONE, BOOT MAY TAKE A WHILE DONT PANIC
18) Enjoy faster internet

just completed the prl hack... boy what a difference. i'm about 50 feet for a tower(my company leases space for att and sprint) before the hack,my avg was about 300kps.. now i'm at least 500kps+.. i did hit 1095kps on one test :-)
now if i can get the wildfire s to show 3G instead of EV...lol
Lol im glad you were able to see an increadable difference As im stuck on 60 kbps lol but thats up from 20 kps. As for the EV, thats normal 3g. It stands for EVDO Rev A. I could probably change it in a rom pretty easily with UOT theme kitchen. Need to be DEODEXED however

I just did the hack, i was getting around 300kbps dl before and am still getting the same. My ping is 305, which is down from 4something, and the weird one is my upload, its 470kbps. Faster than my download speed, which seems very strange to me, but i'm not complaining. Its up about 200 faster than it was before. On my third try i got 398ping, 457dl, 273ul.
edit.... Well, i changed the server, for some reason it was connecting me to Kansas and i'm in indiana, with the server in indiana i get 141ping, 1031dl, 558ul. After a few tests, my average is about 250ping, 600dl, 400ul

Did u download and install the HTC diag drivers from the guide? What OS do u have ? It will definitely show up somewhere in device manager if u plug it in, unless there is something wrong with your usb port or cable I do believe
** HI TO THE FORUM **
Hey you guys are brilliant first off, secondly i was having an issue and wondered if anyone else experienced it by any chance. I have a root Wildfire S-off for MetroPcs, i cant get past step 5. Once i press the ##7678# my phone jumps back to as if i had just opened the app.It erases the number and goes blank. No screen ever pops up for me to click ok, or select on. GHEESH im a CS MAJOR HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH

For MetroPCS, enter ##626* instead of ##7678#, then enter your MSL as the "password".

This works, however Simon's tweak will not work for MetroPCS phones. We don't use other carriers towers. (Except some Verizon towers for "TravelTalk". Basically for text only)
Also, I don't think there are any "modified" MetroPCS PRL files. Newest is 3026, which should give you 4G/3G in certain cities.

Is the included PRL in Simon's OP the most recent one for Virgin? Or should i be looking somewhere else. All went perfectly btw, great job on the tutorial.
Secondly to Simon:
On the thread in xda forums you made a post stating that you had better success with the hybrid PRL I'm assuming over the one posted here, point is it's really hard to navigate all these different forums for answers lol. I guess my question is where do i aquire the PRL you reffered to over there? It would be nice if there was just once place to consolidate all of your updates, as most of the files from this thread, and xda are outdated and makes it increasingly difficult for us to play catch up. I mean all this in a respectable way of course, just a little constructive feedback. Thanks for everything you do.

I appreciate the quick reply lol, but I still need to know about the other half of my post. Is the PRL you have listed in the OP the newest one? Or where can i obtain the "hybrid"?
Look for the post they did for the optimus v for prl swaps. I'm too buisy tight now. Working in aosp kernel, hs homework and setting up next summers college classes. Too much to do and too little tome Lol

I think i found what your talking about, but it's a thread on xda (used search), anyway the thread is here, and they even use the word: "hybrid". Is this the right place Simon, because they specifically say that it's not for any other phone? IF so, any specific PRL number we should use? Just asking :P

I can confirm that i was correct in my asumption, and we are ok to use the updated PRL's from the post i linked to above. I'm pulling over 1mb down and .5mps up with less than 150ms ping using 61677, and thats only with 37% percent coverage, or 2 bars on the phone. It's beyond fantastic. Thanks for all the great stuff here Simon.
im stuck at step 10b. im completely lost ive rooted a samsung galaxy prevail and tethered it just fine on boost mobile. but im having issues with this wildfire.

Followed the prl instructions. My phone rebooted just fine. But haven't tested it yet.
It got vague at point 10B, maybe due to type of OS (Im on Windows 7). In Device Manager there was a unknown htcdiag device, i right-clicked > update driver > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick... > I don't remember exactly niow, but I list of device types came up, and I picked "Modems", and then browsed to the unzipped htcdiag folder and installed the driver. From there on, I followed the instructions strictly
