HI,

PLease let me know how can i upgrade my HTC Wildfire S android Verson and right now it 2.3.5 Verson and i wanted to upgrade it to verson 4.0 please help me out with it...

HTC will not be releasing Android 4.0 for the Wildfire S. But a developer named Modpunk at XDA is working on it now and should have a release out in a month or two. Installing his ROM will require root access, if you are interested.

Like Cafe said, the only way will be to root it and install a custom ROM which is based on 4.0

I have just got a Wildfire S, (2.3.5). What benefit would there be to upgrading, if or when it becomes possible?

If by upgrading you mean upgrading the rom (From 2.3.5 to 4.1 or whichever you want), It is really up to you. It's more of a preference of the look and feel and/or personalization than anything...
I love customizing so changing roms is fun for me.
But to do that you will first have to root your phone. Have a look at the guide on how to do it:
