Default Will I lose unlock if I update Android version?

About a year ago I used an unlock code to unlock my HTC Wildfire to be able to use it on any network.

What I would like to know is if I update Android OS (currently 2.1), will I lose my unlock?

Anybody been through this before? Thanks in advance
