If you're asking for this on the original Ascend, I highly doubt anyone will even attempt it. The A1 is too weak, especially without a dedicated GPU, to handle the load that ICS would put on it, and it most likely would leave you quite frustrated. The fact that CM7 was able to be ported to the Ascend was somewhat of a feat in itself, so realistically, your best bet is to simply upgrade to a significantly better phone, most likely something with a 1Ghz or faster CPU.

Not likely. The Ascend 2 has a 600mhz CPU, which makes a lot of apps laggy, sometimes to the point of making the phone unusable. I've experienced this quite a bit and got so fed up with pulling the battery that I installed a ROM solely to gain overclocking (I still get occasional lag at 864mhz, particularly when playing games, but at least it won't lag so badly as to become unusable).

Biggest hurdle is the lack of memory. ICS takes up a lot of space.
