Default static IP address

I have just upgraded my Vodafone G300 to build B936 ready to upgrade to the new ICS build but I am unable to set a static IP address from my Wi-Fi.

On the original GB build IIRC I just went to Wi-Fi ->advanced and could set a static address from there. Now I just get "IP address unavailable" and there appears to be no way to change it so i cannot obtain the OTA upgrade.
Can anyone suggest a way to set a static IP address?

I should add that the phone has been unlocked, but not rooted, so it will work on my Virgin network.

I have now managed to set a static IP address but now get "authentication problem" despite the correct password being entered.
