Can somebody help me set up a customize ring tone for my text messages i just got my phone and i dont know how to work it yet

Download Handcent SMS from the Market, its free. Then from the desktop, hit menu, settings, sound & display settings, notification ringtone, Select Music (and you may want to check the "use by default for this action" button)

Actually you might not want to set it as default...

Ill try and make sense here... I am currently using Handcent for my texting which allows you to assign different ringtones to your individual contacts as well as just a default ringtone for anyone you havent customized..

Here is the thing... just last night i figured out that i was having trouble sending MMS (picture messages) through Handcent... But you can use the stock texting app for picture messages (by going to the app page and selecting "messaging") then send your pics that way...

This is a bug with Handcent... but from what i have read the only other good app is Chompsms and it has large ads from what i read..

With Handcent when you are looking at one of your messages there is a little "gear looking" icon in the top right corner and that is the customization area for what ever message contact you are looking at..
