Download cache cleaner and/or cachemate and clean your cache. This should clear up some memory. I also have an app called memory booster that is like a de-frag that might help a little.

.....Which is why everyone is hopped up on goofballs, in a constant state of hooby-gooby, waiting for Huawei or a dev to release a 2.2 port for the Ascend.

FYI, with Icarus running on my phone, I've installed about 4 times as many apps on my phone without issue. Icarus also takes up less internal memory to start with, leaving more room for other stuff that cannot be installed to the SD card.

Icarus has been fantastic for me. It's not an app, it's a complete redo of the OS on the phone, with a lot of useless stuff stripped out, and optimized for better performance. The guy who created Icarus is isaacj87, pretty nice guy from my experience, plus he lives in the same metroplex that I do, LOL.

Anyway, I wouldn't necessarily classify it as "hard" to install, as much as I would say there are numerous steps that make your average user very nervous. However, there are several people on this forum that have no experience doing this type of thing, who have pulled it off perfectly. Follow the instructions from this link and you should have little or no trouble.

Maybe you could post it here rather than using the PM system?

That way everybody can benefit.

Well I have 2.2, and all the apps I download, I have them to go directly to my SD card. I just received the "low memory" notification. I have Cache Cleaner, its good, but I still need more space. Wtf is taking up internal memory?!

Exclamation Cant recieve text messages bc of Internal Memory.

What is taking up internal memory space, if every app that I download, I have it set up to go directly to my SD card? It says the internal memory is low. And now I CANT receive text messages, bc I have low memory. This makes no sense to me. What kind of death trap phone is this?! Is there a way to delete/increase the memory space? I downloaded Memory Booster, but that does nothing. Help?? Thanks.

If you are a heavy texter and you have no number limit on the text threads, you can easily clog up the phone's internal storage. You also might want to check email and gmail deleted files and sent folders for a lot of old messages, especially if you share a lot of media.

Also sometimes the apps don't get installed on the SD card. I have my phone set up so all my apps get installed on the SD card too, nut it doesn't always work. Go in manage applications and start making sure that all your apps are on the SD, if not move them to it. I have to do this often after downloading several apps.

The Huawei Ascend is MetroPCS and Cricket's extremely affordable Android handset, coming in at $150 off-contract. For that kind of money, don't expect much in terms of bang for buck. You'll get a 3.5 inch HVGA display, a 3.2 megapixel c... Read More
