Hey, I was just reading that task killers don't actually save your battery life but actually harms your phone. So I un install my task killers for about a week now, and my phone is running a whole lot smoother and the battery life is just normal.

I think you should give it a try. I am on metro pcs running the newest cm7

you might want to try auto memory manager and sd booster, never use ATK it will kill your phone.

sd booter speed up you sd read/write time, faster loading of pictures and apps if they are install on your sdcard.

auto memory manager will free up memory depends on your settrings and keep you phone running fast.

ATK is not good? i hadn't had any problem with it, can u tell me how is it bad so i can also remove it as well...

Well task killers kill apps and things. The problem is the Android System manages this on its on, eventually these apps/processes startup again and are then killed, again. This uses more battery and it your phone will not run as smooth because Android already tries to manage this on its on. You can remove it buy going to: Settings > Applications> Manage Applications > Find task killer > Click on it > Click uninstall.

I just did this and notes a big in-cress in performance i got a stock phone though i just installed go launchers task killer thing i like it much better it shows the load on the phone. and i now there is something on. What is auto memory manager and will it work on a stock phone?.

What are the differences between Auto Memory Manager and CacheMate? Is AMM the better option?

cachemate is for cleaning cache, like say the internet cache that builds up and slow down your browser/phone, and AMM free up memory to keep your phone running at top speed.

For what it's worth... I am still using Advanced Task Killer (ATK). I have dozens of apps and ATK lets me close many of them down automatically. I have set it up properly (with ignore lists) I have had no problems with my Atrix phone.

Despite a couple of articles againts task killers (which are very much in the minority), the task killers save memory when they close the applications. My phone runs very slow if I don't hit kill apps. The most efficient way to kill apps (in my case anyway) is ATK.

ok. I guess Google doesn't know what they are talking about, since they are the ones who said not to use task killers. Just because they designed the operating system, doesn't mean you should listen to them I guess.

Hey, if he's happy with the way his phone's running, then good for him. If he ever gets to the point that he's no longer satisfied with the way things are, then it's never too late for him to try another way. I used ATK for a while when I first got my phone. It wasn't until I started customizing my phone that I found out it wasn't all it's cracked up to be. But on a stock phone with few changes, it seems to do ok.

i read through different cellphone forums that ATK is the blame for the wakeup alarm not working in sleep mode.

What about the running task closer in Go Launcher? Would that be considered a task killer?

I use START-UP AUDITOR from the ANDROID MARKET.
It has the option of keeping apps that you don't want running on boot-up from starting.
The second option is more like a task killer.

Using the first option works very well,& does not interfere w/other system functions.

For example,I don't need the MUSIC APP or XDA DEVELOPERS on start-up,so,I select for these to not start on boot.

hey i had a question, is the like a task thingy where it just DOESNT kill an app but lets it run. for example the facebook app. i hate it when i end it but when i check back like 2 mins later it has to restart all over again. i kno it will kill battery but is there ANYWAY to keep the app running not restarting over again?

Go launcher has the option to "lock" apps open in the app drawer options.

I've uninstalled ATK, due to the fact that I used it a lot, when I first got my phone. Then I noticed that I didn't use it a lot. And also, battery life was the same(in a good way. Lasted long). I have SD Speed Inscrease (came w/ CM6), and I have that set to 2048kb. But I can't find the Auto Memory Manager, in the App Market :/

I've been using Go launcher for a long time. I like it a lot. The GO dev team is great about releasing frequent updates.
