I see everybody asking questions on here some that matter and alot of them that dont, but nobody has taken the time out to ask something thats impacting crickets service and why people are switching to other companies. I know alot of people get fed up with this whole 1GB policy with cricket, and hate the fact that in order to download as much as you want you have use wi-fi, bum off someones else wi-fi and yet worse steal it. Alot of people watch movies on their phones youtube, netflix, android video, android streamer etc. i know alot of us get tired of the video freezing up and constant upload & download pausing, Now the question that shouldve been asked if not already been asked, Is Cricket EVER gonna get unlimited data service?
Answer if you have true comments and done research to a possible good
resource that may be correct or may not be correct.
I doubt it. In fact, I keep reading about carriers moving away from unlimited plans. As folks keep using the internet more and more, what with bigger and better devices, tethering, more advanced programs, etc., it's hardly surprising that carriers notice that it isn't good for their wallets to keep allowing unchecked data access.
I do think 1gb is too small of a data cap, though. Most of the other carriers allow at least 2gb before they throttle you or charge extra. I would like to see Cricket go to a 2gb cap with the option to pay an extra $10 or so for a 5gb plan. Scur is right, though, true unlimited data is quickly becoming a thing of the past. I think Sprint is the only one left with true unlimited, but their network sucks. At least when Cricket throttles you, it still doesn't seem that slow unless you are trying to download something. I wouldn't even bother with Netflix over 3g, you would use the whole 1gb in a day.

Why would they move away from unlimited plans? I love unlimited everything we have very few phone companies that even have it, if cricket was to ever have something like 3g or 4g unlimited data you will see heads turning quickly, but then again everyone switch as well because of crickets signal, we barely have any.
When my sister ordered her iPad, she signed up for the unlimited data plan. A couple days later, I heard the announcement that AT&T were doing away with unlimited data, but would honor the plans people already had. Soon after, she got an email from them, telling her how she could save money by switching to another plan. When I told her what they were trying to do, she kept the unlimited. And it's a good thing. Some 5 people keep that thing busy. I keep meaning to see if I can check her data usage, it has to be nuts.

When people are using their unlimited data to stream movies, tether their laptops, etc, it uses up a lot of bandwidth and bogs the network down, causing the carriers to have to spend more money to upgrade their network. The carriers have figured it's just cheaper and easier on them to limit the amount of data people use. It's really just all about $$$.
I just saw a commercial from sprint explaining how all other carriers are capping there unlimited plans. But sprint says for 80 bucks you truley get unlimited data. Thats what the commercial said. Ill stick with crickets no contract deal until I know forsure if there are any carriers that truley have unlimited data

Cricket's data usage tool shows me going over 1GB, as I am, but no actions have been taken to stop me

How is that even remotely possible you went over your limit that much and your streaming, downloading, or youtube didnt pause or freeze? after that are you sure you didnt connect to wi-fi cause cricket faithfully slows my s**t down everytime and i hate it! its not fair my dude.....

The other factor that may determine if you get throttled is total bandwidth availability/traffic at any particular time.
A form of supply & demand,if you will.If there isn't a big strain on the bandwidth in your area,you probably won't get throttled.
Conversely, if everyone in your area were on CRICKET & wanted to start BIT TORRENTING movies @ the same time,a traffic jam of sorts arises & someone is gonna get throttled.First,those that are already over their 1GB@3G/MO. limit.Then,whoever the biggest bandwidth hogs,& so on until everyone is on equal footing & able to access 3G speeds.

I do sometimes connect to WiFi but I doubt Cricket has a way of monitoring data thats not going over their network. Also, what I do on WiFi is of no use to them because its not slowing their network any.

Yea what you do over wifi is no concern of thiers, just on data, and they monitor that like a hawk lol

yep, didnt have to download no app, i can turn the phone into a hotspot with up to 8 devices can connect to it.

not on metro cause they have 4g and its unlimited so it would be a waste to add that to there site for peoples account.

If Metro were to throttle their speeds then data would practically cease to exist. It's slow enough already. I've never had an issue with them throttling data over 4G and I spent quite abit of time on Crunchyroll and Youtube. It also appears Metro has real 3G now so it might be possible there too. But I don't think they're ready to start capping people just yet.
