If you have 3G on your Ascend and are using CM6 or CM7, please go to My 3G Speed | Test my iPhone, Pre, Storm speed, 3G Speed Test (my3gspeed.com)and test your 3G speed from you phone. I will praise you if you are able to get anything above 0.25 mbps for down stream while on a CM ROM.
No problem dude... here ya go from Largo, FL area 3G CM7 PRL3025 oh, and notice how low my signal is, and I still pull these numbers...
Metro has released several new versions of the PRL in the past six months. I will try loading CM6 again with my current PRL (3024) and see if I get the same results. I believe I was on PRL3020, so this alone may be the difference or solution to slow 3G on CM mods
From what I understand, PRL's don't automatically update in CM6 or 7 like they do with the stock ROM. If the older PRL is causing 3G to be slow with the CM ROM's, then re-loading the stock ROM and updating the PRL may solve problems with slow 3G on CM6/7
We'll see what kind of results I get with CM6/7 using PRL 3024 opposed to 3020 and report back

What prl works best for you guys? I know it probably depends on location but right now pushed 3024 from 3019 and I'm finally getting 3G but it's horrible. Extremely spotty and capped. So I wanted to see if maybe 3023 was more "stable". Or just pushing 3025. I live in homestead, FL (south Florida) by the way.

There is no difference in speed with the prls. Well where I live. Ive tried them all and pretty much all the same.
I am in the Atlanta area. Today I was at my kids school and inside the school there is no cell service. Not a big deal but when I came out of school, my phone was on 3G for about 2 minutes and then it went back to 1x. I looked and I had a prl of 3025. Do not know when that happened, but I want that 3G back, is there any setting I need to make on my phone to force 3G? I am using cm7, 09132011 version. I was so happy for those 2 minutes!!

im in atlanta and have the 3025 PRL too, and i have 3g but its not as fast though

you might just be in a area where 3g is spotty and if your on prl 3025 which is the newest one than you will have to wait till they update there towers or if you are close by one of their 3g towers it will automatic show back up.

Jealous. We have a 2 towers between my house, the one closer to my school must be3 the one that has the 3G on it. PRL is now 3025, so just waiting for those towers to update here in Atlanta.
^ its not as good as it sounds. Im working on how to improve the 3G speeds that are being given with the signal + the PRL's. Some saw, cynagon rom's has a file that is blocking the portion of the speed. So im converting to stock as soon as i updated my CWM so i can back up my SD-EXT. I'll be posting speed results as soon i can.

T-mobile: My brother is sick of his Mytouch 3g, he still has it b/c his 2 year contract with t-mobile, and if you break it, you have to pay more than it should me.
Sprint: VERY nice phones, w/ unlimited everything but the phones are expensive and the plan is $80 per plan i think.

yep but the thing with sprint, if you had they plan before the price change you will still pay the same price you was before they change it, and it was $69 for unlimited data and all, which is not bad and you get fast 3g and 4g speeds.

Same with me except i get 3g in a corner of my house lol then on the way to my school i had 3G.(to and from)

While driving around today I noticed that the towers near I-85 I had 3G, but the ones further away and nearer my house, no 3G. I have to contact MetroPCS and find out when they will update the towers near to me. At least I have WIFI at home and get to use that, but the 3G will be handy. I have to drive around more and see where else the 3G is working.

shouldn't be to long, but if you call metro they will tell you there is no 3g, just a heads up.

Called metro today to see if Detroit is closer to getting 3g. The Rep told me I should be getting it. And maybe I just need to reset my phone. I told her my reason for asking was because I went to Atlanta over the weekend and got 3g. She then proceeded to tell me that 1x and 3g are the same thing. So I just said why was I getting data speed around 1mb on 3g and on 1x between 100 and 200kbps. She had no logical response to that. But that she was sorry for the inconvenience and she will reset my phone. My guess is when or if we get 3g its gonna be capped and not be much faster than 1x. JMO. I know some people are getting normal speeds on 3g now but most of them forced their prl. So how fast will it be when everyone has it?

1x is actually true 3G. Its the first gen 3G. EvDo is the newest and fastest 3g. Metro's 3G is capped at 1x speeds basically and their 4G is capped at real 3g basically. I read some where Metros 4g is suppose to reach 16000kbps

I made a few ones,it is around 200 kbs up and down but frequently the down speed marks 35 kbs the up is not affected,
my room changed from 2019 to 2025

Woke up to find my phone with the 3G icon. It wasn't like that yesterday, nor at night before I went to bed so maybe it happened real late, idk. I'm in Miami, airport area btw so it stayed that way from my home, work, and it's still that way now.
Went from 2019 to 2025. Haven't done any speed test yet and dunno about the rest of the stuff.

Quack' I think it came to stay but the down speed is still to slow, only once i got the 200 kbs, it is usually under 100 kbs

Metro's "3G" is actually capped at pretty much 1x speeds and their 4G is actually capped at true 3G speeds. "Suppose" to be uncapped by the end of the year.

Dunno how to screen shot so that's about it. I tried the test a few more times and each time, the results are different (lower and lower for some reason) But those were my first.
