Huawei S7 1Ghz Snapdragon [Vid]
This is slick.
Sitting pretty at Qualcomm’s booth, the S7 was shown boasting a 1GHz MSM8250 Snapdragon processor, and our hunting around in the settings confirmed that Android 2.1 was loaded onboard. The Qualcomm reps didn’t have any other hard specifications available on the 7-incher (beyond those that we already knew), but we were able to spot a volume rocker, internal speaker, 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD card slot, USB connector and a fancy kickstand around back for sitting a spell and watching multimedia. During our time with the device, we instantly fell in love with the depressible side buttons, and the capacitive touchscreen was as responsive as they come. The whole thing felt speedy and light enough for our liking, and frankly, it was easily one of our favorite tablets at the entire show. We’re still no closer to nailing down a price or release date, but at least you now know it’s worth your while to keep an eye out for both.

Expansys are already putting this out for preorder:
Huawei S7 Android Tablet PC Support Forum - eXpansys UK
They've got it at 299GBP which seems quite cheap. Do you think this is an inferior model?

Nice find! That is a really good price - considering you get 1ghz and 3G, and they've got support for Android 2.1 ... Pre-ordered! Thanks! I posted the link on my site too, much appreciated.

Does anyone know if it will have a capacitive screen? I really want an Android tablet, but I do not want to go back to a resistive screen.

Will the S7 have access to Android Market? Or will it be limited to just aftermarket apps?

I found this on liliputing:
Quote:
It has a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel capacitive touchscreen display. It runs Google Android 2.1. And in addition to 3G and voice connectivity, the tablet ships with Google applications including Gmail, Google Calendar, and best of all, access to the Android Market, which means tens of thousands of third party apps are just a few clicks away.

$354 is still pricey. I would need to see if it plays HD video. That is now a
requirement for me.

The UK price seems to have stayed the same.

That's pretty nice looking. I like the price as well, a lot cheaper then an iPad.

Again the video review says 1Ghz snap dragon, but Expansys who are the exclusive supplier say it's got a 768Mhz processor.

Probably underclocked for battery saving goodness. Unfortunately it's also 900mhz 3G - so it's not compatible with Telus or Rogers up here

Does that mean there may be a chance it can be overclocked at some point? What speed is the Arm A8 capable of reaching safely?

Yeah, just posted about it - 1.5 hours is pretty pathetic.
I'm lucky, a mod on another forum posed the question about 3G network frequency, and I checked before I confirmed my order - it isn't compatible with Canadian cellphone networks

Yeah when I first watched the video I remember them using their fingers, but I'm pretty sure one of those last links said you had to use a stylus.

it doesn't have 100 mins battery life. That was the battery life on a pre-release model running very early beta firmware.
It has a lot more than that.

How on earth is it so expensive down there? It pretty much encourages you not to purchase from australian stores - might as well buy from eBay!

Aint that the truth , and they wonder why we get all our gear from overseas online now.
Big laugh is that the major retailers are trying to get the gubbermnent to bring in a tax on all online purchases from overseas because they say they are loosing money .
